  1. I just bought AXA because they advertise coverage for asymptomatic positive rtPCR cases requiring quarantine by governmental rule. But their definitions and policy disagree, and would have force most likely. Yes, It's a scam; government requires covid insurance, government requires quarantine in a hospital (hospitel if ...?), and government does NOT require that the required "insurance" pay out for hospital quarantine unless medically required. Clear? Nope!
  2. Not sure I understand. "Will convert to a non o retirement anyway but just ticking the boxes for applying for the thai pass. " What will convert, insurance, Thailand Pass, or O-A visa? Ticking which box, on which form, for visa, pass, or insurance? We need a visa to apply for the Thailand Pass, if required, which it is for my non-imm O. I haven't followed your threads and don't know. I bought a 1 way ticket for my non-imm O (married to a Thai) visa. Just now bought my ASQ++ and AXA covid insurance. Are you saying I'll have an issue with a 1-way ticket on the Thailand Pass application later? The process is confusing when starting, agreed, lots of partial, out-of-date, and conflicting info - in unclear English too.
  3. Congratulations! What is that ID card with "true copy" endorsement? I'm about to start my eVisa non-imm o married to a Thai. Which insurance did you go with? That's next.
  4. THERE! Thank you. So, it is a scam. Government forced asymptomatic hospitalization, not medically necessary, and no way to insure for it. Yet we're forced to buy insurance. Again, they need to disclose the CT (cycle threshold) of the rtPCR positive results or it can be assumed a false positive.
  5. Thanks. I read that and want to trust it... 1) I can't get to AXA's actual policy until after I buy it. Anybody have that? 2) Anybody think it's wise to get 15 days coverage instead of 7 days coverage in case of added quarantine period costs? Or put another way... 3) Will the 7 days term cover the time, including quarantine time, if the 5th day test is positive?
  6. Clearly you're not from the country I'm leaving- America. ???? Insurance here doesn't cover what it's supposed to, where it's supposed to, when you need it to. Medical insurance here is actually much better than it used to be years previous. Premiums are tax subsidized up front and about 75% cheaper in my case. They can't deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions like they used to now (which is most Americans). Cheers!
  7. Thanks sandyf. $150 a day sounds good - about 5,000B. But I've read it's usually 10,000B a day - from a previous post; https://scandasia.com/warning-against-traveling-to-thailand/ AXA advertises they cover asymptomatic quarantine but I haven't seen the policy.
  8. I've heard reports that there are no 'hospitels' yet due to unclear requirements. Are there actual hotels that qualify for quarantine? Should I get a policy for 7 days for just the 5 day testing window, or for 15 days to include any quarantine time? AXA website facing page: "Caught Covid but do not show symptoms? Don't worry! Yes, AXA will cover for the medical expense incurred based on medical necessity. " AXA faq's; Covid-19 > If I’m tested positive for COVID-19 and have to be quarantined in the hotel. Will AXA pay for this hotel cost? "No, AXA will not cover for hotel accommodation cost. AXA will however cover for other medical costs such as physician fees and medicine"
  9. Thanks ubonjoe and Dr Jack54. I'm applying right now online, no visa yet but I'll proceed with my one way ticketing. Grateful for the help, as always!
  10. I finally booked the flight to move to Thailand. My wife's cancer diagnosis really derailed everything. For non-immigrant O visa (married to a Thai): I booked a one way flight. The eVisa application site took my flight number and I just had to enter a departure date. There is no planned departure date - we want to live there. So I just entered a date that's 88 days after arrival. Will that get accepted? Or, do I need to buy a return flight that I wont use, just to get the visa approved? I have 24 hours to get a refund on the airfare.
  11. ...and unnecessarily miserable. UPDATE: We want to retire to Samui but are willing to sandbox in Phuket or Pattaya too. The 11.5 hour layover n BKK for the Samui+ is reduced to 9 hours. Phuket is 8.5 hours. Pattaya is "not available". We're almost willing to be sentenced to 7 days in a BKK ASQ before laying on the floor of an airport for 9 hours. BUT! the price-gouging rtPCR tests and silly COE requirements - only to have Thailand close the beaches because cheap imported labor caused a covid cluster somewhere. Silliness. We're departing from Seattle which had always been a popular point of departure. The ToT or AoT could require airlines to coordinate better. Airlines are absolutely disconnected and can't/wont help. I have to use consolidator sites to get an idea of what MAY be possible. I try not to complain about Thailand's efforts to deal with this pandemic, so I'll just say ....we'll pass for now. This is silly.
  12. How do we book a sealed route flight transiting through Suvarnabhumi to Samui for the Samui plus quarantine program? The TAT site says they must be ticketed at the same time as the international flight. In my case this is from Seattle-Tacoma International in the USA. EVA Air shows "error" when I try to book to Samui without a real explanation. TAT FAQ's
  13. Where is the safest place to sell gold coins such as Canadian Maples or American Eagle coins in Thailand? Who gives the best price. I don't let my stuff go into any backroom to get nicked so I might be considered a tricky seller.
