  1. I would like to re-open this topic

My Stepson is still on his Grandmothers Tabien Baan ,Although he is now a British citizen and permanently lives here in Uk

Can his Grandmother have him removed ,with photo copy proof of his citizenship via passport and official letters from uk ??

To avoid the Army call up

He could (if of age) revoke his Thai citizenship.

How old is your stepson ?

  2. Self treatment of diabetic (foot?) ulcers is very bad idea. Such ulcers are the leading cause of amputation in diabetics.

Your friend needs to first ensure their diabetes is adequately controlled and s/he should be consulting an endocrinologist on a regular basis.

Secondly in regard to the actual ulcer unless there is evidence of cellulitis antibiotics are generally contraindicated and unhelpful The root cause of the ulcer is a poor circulation and the advice of a vascular surgeon should be sought .

There are no "quick fixes" and creams /ointments etc will not , of themselves cure the problem.

Finally if your friend smokes s/he should stop as smoking contributes to the problem

  3. I am citizen of Uganda and hence on the list of countries that are required to apply for a Thai visa in their home country. Would it be a possibilitiy to have a tourist visa processed (in Penang or Singapore) if I submitted an invitation letter from a private Thai citizen? What about application for a Non-B, would this be an option for the two locations mentioned?

    The simple answer is no.

  4. I belive it is a Non-O is issued within Thailand. A Non-O-A is issued outdside the country.

Non "O" visas are not routinely issued in Thailand.

It is possible to "convert" an entry gained from a visa exempt entry or tourist visa to an "O" visa entry providing it can be proved the applicant can meet the financial requirements for an extension of stay.

  5. A "Non-O" is a visa for "Other purposes", while a "Non-O-A" is a visa for retirees over 50.

The difference is that with the Non-O you will need to get out of Thailand every 90 days and then re-enter for a 90-day-stamp,

Those will be either "S" or "M" for single or multiple entries, the latter is actually good for close to 15 months in Thailand if you time your entries right

(i.e. enter for the last time on the "best before" date of 1 year).

With the "Non-O-A" you got now you can stay in Thailand for one year and do not have to leave the country, but you will need to register with

immigration in person or by letter every 90 days. To leave the country and return you'd have to get a re-entry permit (single or multiple) first,

or you will have a problem re-entering as your Non-O-A is valid for only one entry.

Further the requirements for the Non-O-A encompass proof of financial status, those 800k THB, while for the Non-O some sort of reliable income seems to suffice.

At least that is the case with my friendly Honorary Consulate in Essen, Germany.

    Your post provides misinformation !

All O/A visas are multi entry and a re entry permit is not required whilst the visa is valid.

It is not a requirement that 800k baht is shown to qualify for an O/A visa . The equivalent sum in any currency can be shown and it can be in a "foreign" bank.

I doubt an Hon Consulate is authorised to issue O/A visas.

  6. no wonder the the op is asking for help, does anyone know the definitive status for citizens of ASEAN once the changes are put into place at the end of the year? if so please share them with references for back up research.

For all practical purposes nothing will change.

The current requirements for visas and work permits will remain

There will be no "freedom of movement" within ASEAN and the ASEAN agreements are essentially concerned with the creation of a free trade area.

  7. Its always confusing when some posters say you dont need a letter, and others that you do, but thanks for all your input.

Agreed but you can rely on the fact that ubonjoe(a moderator) and several others have indicated there is no need for a letter.

I hope you saw the link I posted earlier which concerns the process you need to follow to obtain a new UK passport.

  8. do some research on vaccines and you may stop it right now.

You need to know that children that are not vaccinated are far healthier than those that are, do your own research

if you know what's good for your kid.

you need to know that your claim is nonsense dry.png

Pal of mine in the UK has 3 children,

Child 1, vaccinated at an early age with whooping cough vaccine, ceased all mental development, still in nappies age 27.

Child 2, no vaccine, caught whooping cough, normal mental development, now working age 25.

Child 3, vaccinated at an early age with whooping cough vaccine, ceased all mental development, still in nappies age 20.

Up to you what you believe, I know what I (and he) believe.

    A remarkably unlucky family !

Is there an element of hyperbole in that post ?

Here is a link to fact !

  9. to qualify for a retirement visa you have to be over 50 years of age have an income of 65 thousand baht a month and 800 thousand baht in the bank . if you are married you need 400 thousand baht in the bank .

    Inaccurate Information!

    1. For an extension of stay based on retirement 800k in a Thai bank OR an income of 65k a month is required. It is also possible to combine income and money in the bank to reach the 800k

    2. For an extension of stay based on marriage an income of 40k/month OR 400k in a Thai bank is required

    What is accurate then?

NOT the stuff posted by springheeled jack

Next time I will attempt to make my posts clearer coffee1.gif

  10. Deserted

"Yes thank you. If we could return to the original question of the age where injections are no longer needed I would be grateful. Our child is 3 years old, I am constantly surprised by the hospitals claim that he needs another stage in yet another vaccine. Surely the line has to be drawn somewhere."

I provided you with the Thai immunization schedule.

If the hospital is not adhering to the schedule then ask why . If the answer fails to satisfy the solution is to go elsewhere. Be sure to ask if the Thai schedule is adhered to.

You can also compare the Thai vaccination schedule with that recommended by the American CDC.

    http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/downloads/parent-ver-sch-0-6yrs.pdf

There are some small differences due to Thailands risk profile. For example Thailand has a high incidence of TB and therefore children are given BCG. The lower risk of TB in Western countries means children are not routinely given the vaccine.

Another vaccine offered in Thailand but not in the West offers protection against Japanese Encephalitis which again is prevelent in Thailand particularly in rural areas where pigs are farmed.

I have yet to meet the child who enjoys being vaccinated. But consider this................ would you rather have an upset child for 5 mins or a child permanently disabled (or worse) by a vaccine preventable disease?

You are welcome to PM me if you wish because I fear this thread is being destroyed by ill informed crank comments from vaccine detractors.

  12. Hi Guys,

    We are still in Thailand.

An agent could offer me and my wife a SUPER-FAST service : -

Non-O ( 3 months ) immigrant visa x 2 people + 12 months extension based on retirement x 2 people + multiple entry permits x 2 people + they responsible to set up individual name bank account ( THB800,000 in each, even WITHOUT us to put a penny in them ) for our income proof + NO medical certificates and NO Police Records are required. All these can be done within 5 working days inside Thailand, charging total fee THB80,000 for 2 people.

    My questions are : -

    1. Does it sound logical ? Does it worth to do so ? Is this a trap ?

    2. Service fee THB80,000 ( 2 people ) reasonable or not ? Is this the market price ?

    3. Are these agents trustworthy ?

    4. I should just go back Hong Kong to apply the Non-OA, to go through the hard work on our own. Using our joint-name BKK accounts, I am the major applicant, my wife will be my dependent ; or vice versa - using my wife's Hong Kong Bank account, she is the major applicant, I will be her dependent.

Welcome all your's comments / advice. Thanks.

    Go for it!

You have received good advice here but the decision is yours to make .

Take care the "offer" could be seen to be, at the least, fraudulent.

    80,000 Bht ?
