  1. Sounds like a complex case which could have been avoided had the Thai birth certificate been obtained whilst the young lady was a child.

The embassy staff are now in a position of trying to ascertain exactly who this person claiming Thai nationality is..

You seem to have a choice

    A) Work cooperatively with the Embassy staff and attempt to resolve the issues or B) Complain

I am not sure that taking option B will assist in any way ......................

Do you have any documented evidence of this young lady being Thai ?

  2. Incobart

    There is no "retirement visa"

Phuket immigration does not do "conversions" from tourist visa entries to a non "O" visa entry.

If your aim is to secure an extension of stay based on retirement you would be best advised to obtain a non "O" visa in Penang and then apply for the extension during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry the visa will allow.

  3. "Geo-Blocked"

    You live in Thailand.

    Your software is pirated.

Go to jail - 90 days.

    Try again.

What an extremely unhelpful and cynical response.

My copy of Windows is legal and MS has activated and verified the product as being genuine

As I have no desire to receive any further ill-informed comment I have added you to the ignore list

  4. I am running Win 7 , fully updated, on a Samsung RV511.-

Despite being offered Win 10 by MS the upgrade fails to install returning a 1900101-20017 error code.

Having spent much time talking with MS techs about the problem a solution has not been found.

    Any ideas ?

Have you tried upgrading with a downloaded ISO rather than via Windows update?

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

    Thank you for responding.

Yes......I have tried upgrading from the ISO download.

I have also tried every other "fix" suggest by MS and others!

If it was me I would clean install Win 7 then upgrade from that. It will definitely work though obviously you will need to reinstall your apps and data.

It isn't as painful as it sounds because you don't need to install all the Win 7 drivers and don't need to do any updates at all. The only requirement is that Win 7 shows as activated before commencing the upgrade to ten.

Thank you for your reply and continued interest

I have just learnt from another source that my copy of Win 7 may be "Geo-Blocked"

Does this mean anything to you ?

  5. You need to look at the admitted until date. That's the date you can stay to before an extension is required.

Your original visa (assuming it is a Non O A) will have an issued date and an enter before date. Going by your information the issued date is 12 Aug 2014. Therefore the enter before date should be 11 Aug 2015, and you say it is multi-entry.

If you arrived on 20 Sept 2014, the Admitted Until date should be 19 Sept 2015. As your original multi entry visa has now expired, if you do a border run on 1 Sept without a re-entry permit you will only get a 30 day tourist visa (provided you re-enter via an airport). If you do a land visa run I believe the tourist visa will only be good for 14 days (not certain about this).

If you obtain a single entry re-entry permit and do your border run on 1 Sept your passport will be stamped with an admitted until date of 19 Sept 2015. Quite pointless doing this.

    You have 2 options.

    1. Obtain a multi-entry re-entry permit then do your border run. This way you will get your 12 month extension when you return.

    or

    2. Just go to Immigration and apply for a 12 month extension of stay(multi-entry) on your existing admitted to date.

I believe it would be more convenient to follow option 2, and it will probably cost less as you won't have any costs to travel out of and back into the country.

    Wong. Bad information.

    1. All holders of a G7 country passport receive a 30 day "visa exempt" entry at airports/borders if they have no visa. The visa exempt entry is NOT a "tourist visa" !

    2. A multi-entry reentry permit will NOT provide a 12 month "extension" on return.

3 There are no "multi entry" extensions of stay. If a person wishes to travel during an extension of stay a separate application for a re-entry permit must be made.

  7. You must have asked (clicked on) a "remember me " box at some time.

The details are contained in a "cookie" stored on the computers hard drive.

Clearing "cookies" will remove the problem

The exact means of clearing cookies depends on the browser being used.

Yes I clicked but did not mean too, I'm on an IPAD, tried calling the bank, took me 15mins to get through all the different menus, cut me off, any idea how to do please?

How do I clear cookies on the IPAD?

Sorry I do not have or use an Ipad so I have no idea..........

Suggest a Google search using this term < removing cookies from Ipad >

  8. I work overseas doing 2 month on 1 month off roster. I never had a problem returning to Thailand on a tourist visa until now. Depending on which immigration officer you meet at your re entry it may be a problem. I have been told that I will be denied entry unless I have organise a visa before arrival. Working in West africa the closest Thai embassy is about 2000kms away.Looks like they are going to lose another quality tourist?

It would seem you have been arriving in Thailand without a visa asking for "visa exempt " 30 day entries (these are not tourist visas )

Immigration has a "red flag" system which requires officers to inquire of those who make frequent use of "visa exempt" what they are doing.

There is no mandated limit on "visa exempt" entries and Immigration has very few grounds for refusing entry. if you intend to continue using 30 day entries you should ensure you can demonstrate a) Possession of 20,000 Bht cash B ) Evidence of a flight out c) Evidence of being employed outside Thailand.

If you are married to a Thai a one year multiple entry visa can be obtained from Savannakhet

  9. He has a 45 day tourist visa (so 30 days taht he can extend to 45), I have 60 days single entry, we want to stay two times 90 days (so extend lateron with a border run - which you can apparently only do with a multiple entry one). Is there a way we can still get the 60 days multiple entry. Visa even though thy gave us another one? Or if we would arrive without a visa (in case our application here gets declined?)

Unfortunately the people here at the embassy are not very helpful..

Anyway just given our recent situation, what is our best chance to do, to be able to stay in Thailand for two times 90 days? smile.png

There are no 45 day tourist visas !

    Read my post again !

  10. You will both receive 30 day visa exempt entries if you arrive without visas. The visa exempt entries can be extended for a further 30 days at an immigration office for a of fee of 1900 Bht.

There are no 30 day visas so what exactly does the Aussie person have ?

A 60 day tourist visa can be extended at an immigration office for 30 days ......1900Bbht.

You cannot obtain visas in Thailand you would need to travel to a nearby country to apply for a visa.

  11. No problems, Chaengwattana. Darned annoying though, to have to use a friend's PC and have to learn how to use Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer to do so. (Working out how to print the receipt was particularly challenging.)

if the problem is that you are a Mac user, csn do it in Safari which has a function that lets it work on dites tjay only take IE. Develop ---> user agent --->select IE.

I think there is a similar function for Firefox but might require an add-on.

Thanks for that, but I'm on Linux. For me changing the user agent in Chrome and Firefox didn't work. The developers have used non-standards compliant techniques in their application - techniques which aren't supported by the two browsers I tried.

As you have discovered open source operating systems do have limitations!

Why not think about creating a dual boot system?
