  1. I am saying this because I am in contact with forum loads of people who wasted months sometimes years in psychiatry when they just needed anti parasite treatment. The saddest is when it happens to kids, they can't properly express what's going on and end up in psychiatric wards when they are just infected.

Do you want to be that person who took the responsibility to send him to psychiatry?

These places are easier to get in than out

Give your friend some credit and do try to find out what's his infection.

I am personally dealing with a parasite that does have neuro and psy consequences.

If I had not taken things in hands I could have ended like your friend

I know it could go pretty bad if I don't take care but it is possible to manage parasites.

What is the name of this "parasite" you are dealing with, how was it diagnosed and what is the treatment. ?

  2. If he has "parasite that has made his way to his brain" He does not need psychiatric help.

Parasites can indeed attack the brain and give neurological and psychiatric symptoms if not treated.

Sending him to a psychiatric hospital would be a serious mistake, because psychiatric medicines won't help him and he could be locked up for life when he's just infected and NOT MAD.

As a "knowledgeable" person why not give details of these parasites which attack the brain together with detail of how "they" are diagnosed and treated.

Name the county which locks up mentally sick (not criminal) people for life ...................

  3. If you check with your doctor friend I think you will discover that "neuroleptica" is an obsolete term which not used -----Even in Germany.!smile.png

Your observations describe a "classic"case. Suffers will make extraordinary effort to "prove" the bugs are real and will sometimes cut the "bug" out and present. a piece of tissue as "proof"

Clearly the man is in need of help which is probably best provided at home.

Which leaves the original problem of how this person can returned to his country of origin.

  4. So if you lose your passport on ELITE visa, they make you get another visa and do a visa run out the country??

For 500K one would expect less hassle.

Losing a passport containing a valid visa usually means the visa is also lost and cannot be reinstated.

If an Elite visa can indeed be replaced by doing a "visa run" that is a small price to pay for "losing" the passport.

  5. He has some family back home. Told me his mum finally got her pension and it amounted to the princely sum of 100 GBP a week.

And there's a brother he's not speaking to.

So... I guess I'll have to talk to him about drawing on that. Might work, the problem will be when he does not snap out of the parasite bit and decides to lay down until "they" get him.

I've been through the "psychology bit" with him, like asking if he would feel a failure if he had to return home, if he enjoyed his present life in Thailand,

if he could imagine a life back in the UK (on welfare, obviously). That went well enough.

I suppose I'll have to meet him and do some more talking to see him through.

Unless you are skilled and knowledgeable best stay away from "the psychology bit"!

Do not support or deny the delusion(s) but encourage him to seek medical help. Outpatient consultations are not expensive.

Your friend needs skilled psychiatric assessment/help and appropriate prescribed medication.

You could ask in the Health forum where such help can be obtained.

  6. OP

The delusional state you describe your friend as suffering from is usually treated (in the West) on an outpatient basis.

The problem associated with the delusional state you detail is that many suffers reject/refuse psychiatric help.

Unless this man is a danger to himself or others there is little that can be done.

There will be no "emergency repatriation" unless he agrees and family/friends pay the expenses.

Consider also , depending on the mans demeanor , airlines may refuse him unless medically certified as fit to fly and the airlines may also require that he be accompanied by suitable escort.

  7. Nowretired, the discussion is about what needs to be done when you gain Thai citizenship after entering the country on a foreign passport and how or if govt ministries exchange information.

Please share your experience or insights if you have any on these matters.

It is not about how things are done anywhere else but in Thailand.

But you imply that "it" is done better elsewhere ...........

    Where ?

The OP has received good advise here about regularising her situation .

She can choose to follow your bad advice if she wishes to do so

  8. The point, Elvirojero, is that you do not ever have to walk into an immigration office regarding your other passport once you are Thai with a Thai ID card. It is irrelevant. The ID card is the clean up.

Nowretired, did I mention anything about any 'perfect' country of origin?

To help you out since you seem not to have followed the discussion, I did not.

I was responding to a question about information sharing between Thai government ministries and my comment was that they don't.

Which "perfect" country ensures all information is shared between all ministries ?

    Name the country chatette...........................

Time to refrain from Thai bashing ?

  9. ??? What ???

    just did my retirement-visa-extension pre-bombing...

    no problem

    no TM 2

    business as usual

    in and out

    less 1900... standard

    Was this at Samut Prakarn?

My girlfriend checked again with a different officer, and they still said I need a TM2. Now they also told her that I need a TM30.

I am sure the G/F interpretation of what she was told is excellent..

Best you complete and submit both forms.

  10. You will not get an conversion to non-B without a work permit.

You can not get an non-B in neighboring countries, without pre-approved WP (WP3)

Try to get one in Amsterdam.

    Thanks for the reply!

I will be applying for a work permit as soon as I arrive in BKK. So it is possible to convert a TR to Non-B in BKK itself, but only when I have a fully fledged WP, or is the application letter enough?

I would rather get the non-b in Amsterdam but the company is a little old school and they want to arrange it in person / paper instead of electronic.. :/

You cannot obtain a work permit without an appropriate visa.

Has the company advised you to arrive on a tourist visa ?

Can this company be relied on ?

Hope the "old school" company knows what it is doing .....................

  11. I re-entered 4 days on visa exempt after 11 year overstay at Suvarnabhumi last August, I was however questioned intently by the senior lady immigration officer on duty and having satisfied her I was allowed in visa exempt along with a strong warning to not overstay even by a single day in the future. So I guess it depends on which I/O you deal with as much as the length of time away....

A visa exempt entry allows a stay of 30 days which is extendable by another 30 days.

What, if you plan to stay, are your plans for remaining in Thailand legally ?

  12. Just tried to access again for 3rd day, get so far (ie.Section 1) and then that's it, blank page and after refresh returns to Imm.gov.th.

Couldn't run a p*** up in a brewery comes to mind, I mean come on they're still using Excel 97 for god's sake.

I have successfully completed two reports without the need to resort to crude expletives.

Perhaps your failure is related to p*** poor user behaviour ?

  13. Frankly, they can't share information between divisions of departments in the same ministry, let alone with other ministries. Many of the govt officials are utterly clueless about regulations let alone laws. It's a complete misinformation society.

Which country do you come from ?

If it is the place where everything dovetails neatly together then it must be a non existent place like La-La land ...........

  14. Based on other media reports of today I'm surprised that there are any immigration guys working on the Thai/Cambo border at the moment.

A gaggle of immigration guys at Sa Kaew have been removed due to the first bombing suspect apparently paying Bt18,000 to enter Thailand with a false passport. Add this to the second suspect having just been picked up at the same border crossing I would guess that entry and exit formalities at all related border crossings will be rather more difficult for those without visas.

Good luck to any border runners in the coming days. I think they will need it.

Can you provide links to the "media reports" ?

Or is this just more TV member rumour ?

  15. Am I wrong here whilst doing one of those long visits to Imigration and doing several xword puzzles I look at the screen and I'm sure it says something like over stay over 90 days no re entry for 1 year over stay over 1 year no re entry for 3 years or is that for something else!!!!

    Very old news !

The proposed "Bans" for overstay were never approved or implimented
