Had the suspected poisoning 3 days ago now. ( I posted further down). I'm still not feeling so good, gas/ burping and strange / slight abdominal pains. Left and right under rib cage. As I'm going on holidays on the 4 March to Koh Chang for 8 days , and Bangkok for 3 days before flying home, I'm wondering if I shouldn't see a gastroenterologist , I'm in Pattaya now. I'm a bit worried about going to an island which only has a small clinic.Maybe I'm being too fast in assuming something as its only 3 days ? But just in case it's not completely better in the next two days ( could be gall bladder ???) could anyone give me the name of a good gastroenterologist here in Pattaya , in case it's something bad and I need to cancel and go home to France.thank you all , and Sheryl, for your good advice.

So, what were these " suspects" suspected of doing on Phuket ? Are they in business, running illegal activities , or mafia type gangs?
-
Well , all over BBC World News , which makes great publicity for Thailand, also very off putting for tourists!!!!
-
Just see this zoo and others, there's the tiger temple too, and then start asking yourself some questions ! Shame on humanity.

Bangkok International airport Suvarnabhumi just made the BBC world news !!!!!! Now the whole world will know the state of the airport they will land at .

Me again will blood tests etc not help to diagnose if it's not food poisoning ? I'll wait till Monday anyway , unless it gets worse. If, I'm a worrier and alone here, is Pattaya International a good option for tests, I see Bangkok Pattaya seems very expensive. Or would it be the same result at Memorial ? Thanks.

Read your post Bobmac, did you also have severe back ache ? Sounds like my episode except I had severe back ache straight away.

Sheryl, thanks so much. The chicken dish was chicken parmigiana , which was obviously with cooked cheese !!! Don't usually eat things like this. The veg were plain. I always thought you'd get diarrhoea and vomiting with food poisoning , had that years before!!!!!! It was the back pain that made me question too, it was so bad.

Hi, yesterday evening came back home after eating out ( chicken and veg in well known pub) within 60 minutes I was having terrible pain in my upper abdomen( stomach?) and pain radiating through to my back.i took some anti spasmodique tablets which didn't help. 2 hours later the pain was absolutely unbearable, so I called a taxi which took me to Pattaya Memorial. There the doctor gave me a shot for pain, and said I had probably food poisoning. I had no nausea or vomiting. My blood pressure was 125 and I was shivering , belching, and trembling. ( I did go to the toilet normally before going to the hospital twice which is rare for me evenings) The back pain was very bad too. I lay there for a few hours , and at 3 am they told me to pick up my medicines and go home. I did feel much better. Today I looked up the treatment which is Norfloxacin 400 which is a antibiotique that I really do not like the sound of !!! I took one this morning before checking. Otherwise there's an antispasmodic, + Mirax for nausea and vomiting ( I don't ) and an electrolyte powder for beverage. I m not sure I have food poisoning as no nausea diarrhoea and vomiting and where does the back pain come in ? What should I do ? Wait a while ? I feel lots better. Should I go to a better hospital to have a CBC ( complete blood count) and urine tests in case it's pancreas problems or gall stones ?? Thank you very much.

Like the EU, ASEAN can expect a lot of problems that will take many years to figure out. Even now, most people think that the open borders are a big mistake ! As for free flow of goods, I'm quite sure , especially in Asia, that they will still need border controls !

No one has stated the obvious , it's hot !

Just bring in radar and cameras on all lights, they'd make a fortune.

It would take more than money to boost phukets image ! Very bad press all over the world. When people ask if I still go to Thailand and Phuket ,they say that , "shame, it's spoilt, all rip off merchants from the airport arrival to departure. "Anyhow, it's too late, the damage has been done. Over built, no infra structure, the sea water once pristine is now polluted, taxi thugs, thieving youths on motorbikes, and the most dangerous roads that you have to take to get from one beach to another.Death Pass Island as a new name comes to mind. All that plus , the Thai charm just isn't there anymore

They are all taking risks, even if it's illegal. What can happen to them, they know they don't have to worry about the local BIB.

There was a travel show on local tv a few weeks back. It was shot in Vientiane I think. The Nok air pilot who spoke could hardly string three words of English together .i will never fly Nok Air.

2 questions please. I thought if you were a criminal you could not easily change your name, and if you did, it would be on record.
Also, will they also not use this system for border crossings , isn't the immigration the same system as at airports?
It would certainly help keeping the no gooders out.

83 foreigners died last day year eh !

You would have to be very naive , or stupid, to go to a go go bar and not know the consequences. These two teachers should have known better. Pattaya , especially Walking Street, has a world wide reputation, so I don't think they could plead ignorance. While I completely condem any violence ( the staff should have accompanied the woman to the atm, or called a tourist police to explain) I don't think they have any excuse to make a fuss. Surely, after all one sees in Thailand, a foreign woman should know how to behave ?
-
I think they should also check if these " drivers" can actually drive !
-
Sad , but any news on the men that were hurt, I hope they are ok ?
-
Wow , for such a huge difference in price, and an hours flight, I know which one I would choose.

Someone posted on Facebook today that they were only according 15 days to re enter Thailand at a border crossing. I rather think this is a false report ! Can anyone confirm ? I know this law exists for some nationalities, but not Europeans , the person was Posting was French . Thanks.

I've been here for over 30 years through the European winters.Thai Visa won't put me off living here permanently, but Thailand will.
Not feeling right after food poisoning, need specialist.

Hello sheryl, First thank you for your help. Bangkok is quite a way from here in Pattaya. And of course I've missed Dr Varocha here today unfortunately.( Sunday). Is there another good gastroenterologist here in Pattaya ? I suppose I will need a doctors appointment first, and then the ultra sounds etc ??? Thank you again for your time.
