Crime Red Bull Heir at Centre as High-Profile Corruption Verdict Looms
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
With his fathers money, I’m quite sure he is surrounded by compétant lawyers on which countries he can safely go to and all the necessary care taken to make sure he’s not in danger of being nabbed by Thailand. Apart from one photo of him outside a London house, he seems to be very discreet. I’m amazed that no journalist has ever found him, they’re usually very good at finding people when they don’t want to be found. Has anyone seen news of him ? -
I would love to spend my retirement all year round in Thailand. As it is , I am spending less time each year. Due to worrying about * what if ?* I have arthritis, and take meds for high tension,Statins , as preventive medicine. I am 72 , do aqua gym, swim, walk an hour a day , eat healthy food, very little alcohol and don’t smoke. I’m fit. But I worry that if I became really ill, hospital bills would be very high. I was planning a Thai senior home , as my uncle is going down this route. As it is, in my hometown in France I have fantastic health care , I can afford even private on top if I wanted. It’s all very well saying that there are good health insurers for expats, but do they assure pre existing illnesses, and at what cost ? I believe this is the main subject why many pensioners , and younger, give up the idea of moving away from their home.,

Go to Friendship , upstairs they sell bags in different sizes. They’re meant for the small shop owners I suppose and you can buy a packet or more as you need them very cheap. I put my bananas in paper bags and hang them from my kitchen door . Keeps them great and no flies.

Report Swiss Man Faces Arrest in Phuket Over Alleged Assault on Thai Doctor
geisha replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
You are mixing up 2 news reports. He did not kick a pregnant woman, that was a Russian woman who kicked a sale girl in a cafe. The salesgirl was pregnant. The Swiss guy allegedly *slipped* and kicked a girl who was sitting on public owned steps in front of of his house. The girl was a Doctor at Dibuk hospital. She said he was angry with her and her friend for sitting on his steps. The steps turned out to be public beach steps. -

Opinion Russian Teacher to Thais: Drop ‘Farang’ if 'Ni Hao' Offends
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The guy who addressed the park ranger by saying Ni Hao was a tourist on holiday. He was ignorent of the proper terms to say hello, lots of people do this, it’s innocently said. The park ranger was a fool for being so thin skinned. Im not keen on the word falang myself, but it depends how and from whom it’s spoken. It’s very rude if spoken in company. Would we call the gentleman with us the « foreigner »? No, personally I would say, gentleman, or lady if I didn’t know their name. -
Happy Easter - News? Movies? Not very evident..
geisha replied to ronnie50's topic in Political Soapbox
Thais celebrate Christmas, but turn it into a huge party . Nothing to do with the real meaning of Christmas and the Nativity. Why would they celebrate Easter or put it on the National newspapers / TV. Just as the rest of the world don’t know anything about about Thai celebration days. Look what the Thaîpeople have done to Songkran . It’s nothing to do with honoring Their elders and renewal. I always make sure I’m never there while it’s going on. -
You are joking ! A load of codswallop. The quiet traveler is the one we rarely hear about. The ones that make the news are the 2 week millionaires that are a shame to their country . In my 40 years of Thailand I’ve met loads of people traveling Asia on a shoestring. And what, may I ask, is wrong in that ? They get to see what many on their 200€ a day sightseeing tours never achieve. I love Bangkok, and I can spend days visiting the out of town ancient temples of Thon Buri etc, taking the local transport or the sky train. Same in Chiang Mai. Same in Phnom Penh, Hanoï and Saigon, Tokyo and Singapore. And many more. It does not mean that you are penniless or broke. When I see the quality of tourists that fill the roads of Phuket, Pattaya and Chiang Mai ( less) then I much prefer the backpacker that is out to see the country, and not the bottom of a Chang .

Did we have the best of it ? Is Britain Lost ?
geisha replied to CharlieH's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Illégal immigration should have never been allowed from the beginning. They are costing the UK 7 million euros a day in lodging/ houses alone .Thats why the UK is going down the toilet. Only that. -

They’ve changed the law in UK since yesterday. Now, women are women again, which I’m happy with. The trans will have a different choice of toilettes, hospital beds, sports events etc. -

The 2014 Koh Tao Murders - Who 'really' done it?
geisha replied to Don Giovanni's topic in Off the beaten track
Well, if I remember correctly, one young man who had info on that awful night on Koh Tao, made a successful getaway . He did not hang around. The killers were well known on that island , sons of a local ….. The investigation was completely botched and truth covered up. So sad for those two young men who are still sitting in a stinking cell. I did hear they were to be released back to Myanmar, don’t know if it happened ? It’s not called Death Island for nothing. -
Should put up a notice saying Keep your cash in your Inside pocket. Years ago I always had a silk money bag, when on a flight or bus I’d just put the money bag on. Went all over the world with that .

Just look at the passengers arriving. Mostly men over 50. I heard three French men bragging about spending a week in Bangkok and never leaving their bedrooms ! So , unless Trump rises taxes on Soi Six and Bangla rd, nothing will change.
