  1. Thais celebrate Christmas, but turn it into a huge party . Nothing to do with the real meaning of Christmas and the Nativity. Why would they celebrate Easter or put it on the National newspapers / TV. Just as the rest of the world don’t know anything about about Thai celebration days. Look what the Thaîpeople have done to Songkran . It’s nothing to do with honoring Their elders and renewal. I always make sure I’m never there while it’s going on.
  2. You are joking ! A load of codswallop. The quiet traveler is the one we rarely hear about. The ones that make the news are the 2 week millionaires that are a shame to their country . In my 40 years of Thailand I’ve met loads of people traveling Asia on a shoestring. And what, may I ask, is wrong in that ? They get to see what many on their 200€ a day sightseeing tours never achieve. I love Bangkok, and I can spend days visiting the out of town ancient temples of Thon Buri etc, taking the local transport or the sky train. Same in Chiang Mai. Same in Phnom Penh, Hanoï and Saigon, Tokyo and Singapore. And many more. It does not mean that you are penniless or broke. When I see the quality of tourists that fill the roads of Phuket, Pattaya and Chiang Mai ( less) then I much prefer the backpacker that is out to see the country, and not the bottom of a Chang .
  3. Your comment has nothing to do with the subject.
  4. Illégal immigration should have never been allowed from the beginning. They are costing the UK 7 million euros a day in lodging/ houses alone .Thats why the UK is going down the toilet. Only that.
  5. They’ve changed the law in UK since yesterday. Now, women are women again, which I’m happy with. The trans will have a different choice of toilettes, hospital beds, sports events etc.
  6. oopsie, I think that Trumps made some huge mistakes !
  7. I think when booking your flight it will be mentioned. Have you filled in your Digital TM6 ? with the address Mail.
  8. Arrest, high fines and deported for life. Make it known .
  9. Well, if I remember correctly, one young man who had info on that awful night on Koh Tao, made a successful getaway . He did not hang around. The killers were well known on that island , sons of a local ….. The investigation was completely botched and truth covered up. So sad for those two young men who are still sitting in a stinking cell. I did hear they were to be released back to Myanmar, don’t know if it happened ? It’s not called Death Island for nothing.
  10. Should put up a notice saying Keep your cash in your Inside pocket. Years ago I always had a silk money bag, when on a flight or bus I’d just put the money bag on. Went all over the world with that .
  11. And « health records » ??? Health records are private . Why do they need those ? A health or travel insurance I can understand .
  12. Just look at the passengers arriving. Mostly men over 50. I heard three French men bragging about spending a week in Bangkok and never leaving their bedrooms ! So , unless Trump rises taxes on Soi Six and Bangla rd, nothing will change.
  13. Chuck them out, stamp in passport , banned. Is there not enough lewd idiots in Thailand as it is ?? If the police could do that to the dangerous tourists that are becoming the norm in Thailand then there would be much less violence and trouble. A crackdown is needed !
  14. What ?? So my nephew who’s been in the British army on difficult rounds, is a law abiding citizen , cannot be a tour guide , one of his Swedish friends from school, also cannot be a tour guide ? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. You can’t have different laws for different races. And who knows what this « Israeli soldier really did in Israel ??
  15. They need another ferry or two. I would think that’s enough.
  16. No Richard, for once I don’t agree with you. I’ve been going to KC for 20 years. Now it is over crowded and hotel prices have sky rocketed. There is only one road on the island which is very dangerous when it rains, especially for idiots on a rented bike. The beauty of the island is being plundered. After a bridge, what will come next ? Chop down the trees in the national park and build condos and even more hôtels Turn it into another awful Koh Samui? Crowds, pollution, bars , hiked prices, leave it alone. Please.
  17. Probably the 77 feared dead have families to keep, they are the breadwinners. The poverty stricken families in Myanmar , as all others , deserve better compensation , I would have thought 3 million at least was a decent amount.
  18. None of your business ! It’s a free world, everyone does what they believe right.
  19. We had around 15 tremors in and around Nice /Cannes 2 weeks ago. We had one tsunami in Antibes near my home in 1979 . It wasn’t of the size of the big one in Phuket where I saw it all from my balcony, but damaged Nice airports runway and we had a few smaller yachts in the beach village.
  20. Everything was better back then Bill. Thailand has turned into a den of iniquity. Violence and scams.
  21. If I can see the French guy crossing from the above screen shot, surely the driver with his lights on can see him ???? Does the victim have to pay his own hospital costs in such cases ??
  22. France is a wine country ! Most people drink wine with their meal. Good quality meat and fish is expensive . You have to buy it fresh, store it, have a cook, cook it and then add the sauces and veg. Wine we buy direct from the growers, 5 /20 cartons of 6 at a time depending the price range / quality. Put it in the cellar, lasts all season. Uncork it, bobs your uncle . Most multiply food costs by 2.5% , drinks by 5%. A good bottle of Cote de Provence costs us 5 to 7 euros. Multiply that by 5. That mark up is for soft drinks, bottled water ( Evian/ Badoit) coffee and desserts also. I rarely drink wine in Thailand except when I know they store it properly . In a hot back room just ruins the wine, even if it was originally of good quality.
