I don’t know about other people, I myself caught Covid twice , the first was very weak short experience, the second time really bad, and I’ve had a dry cough every since that my doctor says is common for those who have had Covid. Lots of people around me died , and the hospitals , as everywhere , were crowded with ill people. So we’re all mad ? Covid never existed ? Just as the Black Death and the Spanish flu, it was real.Todays medical world handled it better, that’s all, even though they weren’t prepared . The nutcases and conspiracy people are those that are in denial.

Singapore-sling blunder leaves Phuket Airport officials red-faced
geisha replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The true story is, the officials had too many Singapore Slings, and hence the mixed up photographs . Well, any better suggestions ? -

British swap gloom of Blighty for tropical Land of Smiles (video)
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What a load of tripe.Smart Brits are working hard and getting on with life. I don’t know where you came from, but my Brit friends and family are doing very well thank you. Come have a look where I live near the Cap D Antibes in S of France. Most of the 100 million euro houses / mansions are owned by Brits, and the yachts in the port are mostly flying the Union Jack. There’s a reason why Thailand attracts a lot of low class idiots. They can rent bikes for cheap, drugs on every street corner, cheap girls and restaurants. No way they can get that elsewhere! -
So it doesn’t scan your face when you arrive ? Like elsewhere you put your passport on the right, look at scan, doors open. If they don’t open means there’s a problem. Saw that with a man next to me in Heathrow lately. The scan has all your comings and going’s and normally your picture. I think this is all linked to alerts on tax etc.

Thaksin Announces New Anti-Drug Task Force Led by PM Paetongtarn
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It’s obvious that illegal drugs are a problem the world over. It’s becoming worse every day and luring young kids in to the business and or becoming addicts very young. Thailand made a huge mistake in legalizing all these sleazy shops that have opened on every soi corner. It has attracted the worst type of tourists imaginable. Look at Marseille in France, Paris, Lyon all over. Drug cartels have taken over. Kids of 12 are missing school to work as “ lookouts” for their boss. 2 children were killed lately . 14 yr olds arrested for shooting someone who didn’t pay the goods. There are so many reasons to stop this business. Why work, why study, when you can earn 3 , 5 or more thousands euros a month for 2 or 3 hours of work a day. It’s breaking down families and society as a whole. It’s out of hand. -
Will, have you heard the latest news bbc? A bloody siege ends Myanmar army control now wholly under AA control. Northern Rakhine state. Report from J Head and CNN.

British man’s flight home to recovery after horror crash in Thailand

You better pray you never have such an accident . You may keep your mouth closed about go fund me .He was working, he had valid insurance, no booze found, he was in a very bad way with more ops on the way. As I’ve said before, not everyone has 50 000 € savings just waiting to be of use. He is better at home with his family by his side . What makes you think you have any right to order what’s best for other people ? I for one wish him all the very best as I’m sure most normal people on ASEAN would. -
How many readers would come to Thailand if there were no hookers and girlie bars ? There’s you’re answer. Nothing to do with Khao Pat or the sunshine.

Focus on Koh Chang: A Tropical Paradise with a Touch of Luxury
geisha replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Personally, I’ve been to Koh Chang at least 10 times if not more , staying 10 days, sometimes more. I love the island with its perfect beaches , lots of restaurants, and going on boat trips. This year I want to go, but unfortunately, the hotel prices have soared. I prefer the high end hotels for my comfort, but I know I can better rates on other islands. I think they might price themselves out of the market. -

Where’s best to stay ? Was thinking of a week end January. -
True, the free health care I have in France keeps me here. On retiring I wanted to retire to Thailand. I’d spent stays through winter around 4 months up to then. That and the new tax laws etc has put an end to that. I have a good sunny life here, I wouldn’t risk the move at my age.

Stray Dogs Attack Tourists Daily on Koh Muk

Nothing ever gets done here. The authorities like to keep the money for their own ideas. -
It’s not going to happen. Never. Money has gone to his head. He’s completely mad. And the Brits or anyone else in Europe would laugh themselves silly over the suggestion. Let him stay in the US with more of his sort. I feel very sorry for normal Americans.

Simon43, I think I remember you from,Phuket where you had a hotel near the airport ? I was up there visiting friends from Kata Beach. I absolutely loved my trips to Burma , and I think I was one of the first tourists to enter. I travelled where I could, by train, and bus, and horse and cart. I went many times. I loved Mandalay , I asked a driver to show me special places of interest. He drove me to a hill, and a beautiful old British cottage style home, with a garden and a gate to tie up the horse. Fireplaces . It was empty and abandoned. My dream was to buy it and live there. Impossible of course. I also fell in love with Bagan, visiting the area by bicycle. At the Shwezigon toe ple a little girl offered to be my guide , in English. She was very good, said her mum taught her, they had a shop nearby. I asked what I could buy her, and she said flip flops, she took a big size , about 40, and I said they’re too big, she answered that big Will fit all the family. So many stories and photos. I would love to come back and see the people happy again. My last trip was just before Covid, I left because Thai friends told me to come back as it was getting to be a problem. Sad. What happened to Bogyoke market and the many fashionable restaurants ? How do the people manage for money/ food ? Thanks.

Surprising Yadom facts you probably didn’t know

I had the little silver tube years ago . I suppose similar to the Vick sticks we sniff in the west ?? I’m wondering if they are completely safe health wise ? Some Thais walk around with one practically stuck up their nose ! -
When I was in school in UK the boys were always called Master …….. by the teachers. Also anything that came by post . Another title you don’t hear much anymore is esquire . It was common in my youth and all my fathers post were addressed to his name followed by Esquire or Esq.
