Hi all, living in France.,just started to get my flight options together and SHA PLUS + hotel ready, and I find out that the Evisa might take 45 days and even then is not guaranteed !!! Seeing as I had a flight for the 20 th with Emirates , and thought I’d have a tourist visa 60 days plus 30 extension, I’m a bit lost what to do. I’ve figured out the test and go hotel in BKK, but then I was going to book a condo and a Phuket trip. Now I don’t know what to do as I might be limited to 60 days. Anyone heard anything about this , e visas aren’t particularly committed to a country ( I’m a French resident) or are they ?Is it just Paris or everywhere ? Thanks for any ideas.

Whatever, it is strictly forbidden to travel with a TB infection.

Why not go to a Thai hospital ? I’m sure they are well versed in TB.

Transit through Phuket and Test and Go
geisha replied to thisisrascal's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
You will have to call your airline. Look at the conditions of your booking too. It might not be possible to change . Or might be through a payment. Whatever, you will need a new ticket, you can’t just “ get off”. As for entry into Thailand, at the moment there are rules. Test and go, if you are vaccinated, quarantine depending on where you’re from and if you are not vaccinated. PCR on arrival. As you are traveling in March, no one knows what the rules will be . So call your airline and find out before making any other reservations.- 1 reply

Anutin speaks out on the unvaccinated possibly facing restrictions
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
it’s the non vaccinated who are in the lead for life support ventilators in hospitals all over the world .They are putting a huge strain on the health workers who are often faced with this 7 days and nights a week , they are on their knees , no one wants to do this job anymore, and can you blame them. Very few vaccinated people die from an eventual Covid infection compared to non vaccinated. The world’s economy is suffering, everyone should do their best and think of others, not only me me me. Jobs are lost, families crying over lost ones, and living with some who never recover , long Covid. Its a pandemic, not a runny nose and a week in bed ! -

It would be a good idea if the authorities/ health minister applied this rule to factory owners , who employ thousands of very poor Thai and immigrant workers. These unfortunate souls are mostly piled together in unhygienic surroundings ( often camps where construction workers are concerned) . How on earth does the government hope to control the pandemic when they, the government, are not doing their job ??? Useless people giving advice they themselves do not heed. -

Ubonjoe, with all the complications of the Thai Pass, I’m thinking of leaving middle/ end December. I will want a 60 day tourist visa ( French resident / British Passport ) which I will extend 30 days at immigration. I’m really thinking of going through a visa agent Paris, or maybe the Thai Package one always mentioned on FB and ASEAN. What do you think ? I don’t really feel up to the stress of going it alone. Cost it may. but not to my nerves. Thanks for any advice.

Leisure travellers unlikely to visit Thailand until next year
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
From what I’ve heard from friends and on social media, the news about the Thailand Pass being so difficult to obtain , and the “ tourists” stressing , not knowing if their holidays are going down the plug are enough to put potential visitors off, or going elsewhere where the rules are simple regulations. The app is definitely not working, some are getting their QR code immediately and others not at all, with less and less hope of traveling. -
SURVEY: Health Insurance for foreigners -- Good idea or not?
geisha replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
Richard Coleman, sorry , I mis read your post.Thought you meant you were covered for 20/ 50 thousand $ by your Visa card !! You meant having this money readily available when needed. Ok. My sitUation is the same, have plenty invested . Still I think that a reasonable insurance that covers any huge bills is worth it. My neighbours from France had a terrible accident while in Phuket, not their fault at all, and spent over three weeks in Bangkok Phuket hospital, their legs basically crushed. It was sometimes touch and go. After 3 weeks I managed to get them repatriated with their insurance. I can’t remember the amount but it was immense! (12 yrs ago about). They were very well looked after and the specialist in France said the “ repairs “ were amazing. They spent another few months in a specialist centre. After seeing that with my own eyes and being at their bedsides every day, I would never take any chances. -
SURVEY: Health Insurance for foreigners -- Good idea or not?

Hi, not contradicting you, but I thought a gold/ platinum visa only covers you for 90 days ?? is it country depending ? I have both those cards and live in France. I’m often gone over 90 days so take out an extra insurance. -
Anyone who knows Thailand even slightly would not have applied first weeks of the new app.

Well I do, and never had a problem. I’ll certainly be asking around from, applicants, ( hundreds on FB) to find out if this really is a problem. Loads of messages saying they never got through, or never got the email, or passport number problem . Then lots saying after the umpteenth try , they got through. So the hotmail of op could have been just a moment .

Phuket busy with foreign tourists, Thai media reports
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I heard the same, Phuket has quite a big young foreign population who go out for fun, not necessarily for the girl scene. I never saw that in Pattaya area for example. -
Welcome to Thailand! 15,000 arrivals from 26 countries this week, say CAAT

Why are you all getting steamed up about the figures ? Does it make a difference? It’s a wait and see game. -
Thailand increases number of 'low risk' countries from 46 to 63

Yes, and are all these presumed travelers fully vaccinated ??? -
I think I have an eye sight problem! Did I just read on requirements for entry 1st Nov , Non Thai Nationals ( eligible countries) * Travelers are not required to be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 *: ???? This I really don’t understand ! With all the important messages to get people vaccinated especially for travel, you’d think being fully vaccinated was top of the list for requirements ? Certainly is in Europe .

Options to stay in Thailand between 4-5 months?
geisha replied to baz69er's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I think the op was worried about showing bank funds and STV ask for them. I fact I think all visas do. Visa exempt doesn’t obviously. Have rules changed ? -
Hi all, I’m thinking of spending a few months in my old haunt of Kata beach area Phuket. Spent many snowbird years there. I will be renting a condo, not yet found but searching. I really want to rent a safety box to put my passport , papers, valuables in . I always do this when I’ve been in Chonburi or Bangkok, much safer than leaving in a condo safe. I don’t have a bank account, and from asking friends, the bank safe deposit boxes are all full anyway. Any info appreciated. Thanks .

Grumpy old man, I’m,sure he’s not completely alone ?? Get someone of confidence , family, neighbours, to down load everything ( except banking) on a cheap smart phone. Then if he goes somewhere and needs one he can just hand it over.
-
That’s bad in my view. Anyone, especially aged, eye sight problems or physical, should be able to have a printed copy. We do in Eu and GB . Hot do they expect poor people, or farmers in the sticks living on a shoe string to have a smart phone, and be able to use it ?? So, you loose your phone, it breaks, it’s out of juice, what the hell do you do then ?? Everyone advises to have paper copies with you !
