I think its natural and normal for all people to be clean , at least. The op says the girls don’t care, they do !!! How many times I’ve heard thais speaking of the Falang, are dirty, don’t wash, smell bad. Sometimes on the bus, it’s hell sitting next to foreign people, so I’d usually choose thais , who normally don’t smell. Like it or not, I prefer being around clean nicely dressed people than those that are smelly and scruffy. Self respect.

Chash, don’t forget to do your Notification of Address within 24 hrs of your arrival at your immigration office Nong Khai. You will need it if you are asking for extensions there.
Also, as said above, maybe you can get a return ticket GB / BKK which you can change the return date ? My airline charges 50€ to change dates.

Chash ,first find out from the consul if you need a return ticket, I’m sure you do. To comply with the rules ( as you are staying more than 60/90 days) buy a one way ticket Bangkok to Phnom Penh , or Phuket Kuala Lumpur, ( the cheapest will do) leaving on the 56 th day of your stay in Thailand. Which you will not use. Nobody will check. Put 58 days on your arrival card . This will get you your visa 60 days, and also you will need it for check in at the airport when you leave for Thailand. They will check your visa and length of stay. If asked, show them your airline ticket out of Thailand after 58 days! All airlines check this these days. I do this often. Just say I’m off to Malaysia for a few weeks. Immigration in Bangkok don’t check your return ticket dates but if they do, same thing, say you’re off tô Malaysia after.

Hi, so if I have 5 VE entries over the last 5 years, does that ring their warning bell ? I stay three to 4 months with a visa in the middle of my stay .

Aperol Spritz is my favorite, big wine glass , lots of ice, a shot of Aperol, top up with Prosecco extra dry, slice of orange. Great especially when the weather is hot.

Its’ common sense that if you arrive anywhere with a large amount of money/ valuables, to put them in a safe place. It’s also obvious that the people who know you’ve just arrived, could guess that you might have a lot of money with you.Even the family could have innocently bragged about a rich son-in-law law !

I hope you haven’t told her ? If you have, say that it was finally just a small sum. She can’t check. Keep no documents at home’, you can leave them with your solliciter in GB. Invest your inheritance, and keep it for future need, illness .Better safe than sorry. The money was kindly left to you, look after it.

When the condo office declares your , you can ask for a copy. I don’t have to ask, they give it to me as soon as I arrive. Also, if you don’t declare’ yourself as well, you can’t get an extension .

I travel all over the world, and I have never, never, seen queues like Suvarnabhumi. It’s a disgusting welcome to tourists of all ages who have just travelled 12 hours and more, and proves that Thai authorities are not capable of managing an international airport.

I stayed a long time on Phuket, Kata, when it was quiet !!! When I left, about 10 years ago, there were already a lot of break ins in Chalong and Rawai. Also, no one drove late at night because of gangs pushing you off your bike to rob you, and there were a few rapes around N’ai Harn, Prom Thep. So I wouldn’t say it was something new. I was offered a lovely house down Fisherman’s Way, but refused as I was worried of the break ins.

I stayed 2 years the winter through in a beautiful condo , Hua Hin, but the pool was in the shade and always freezing. Won’t do that again, anywhere. The beach there’ is awful, so is’Pattaya and Jomtien. the shopping wasn’t enough for me in Hua Hin. In Pattaya it’s spoilt for choice. Lots of things to do. I’m a single lady and got bored In Hua Hin. I stay in Jomtien where there are plenty nice cheap condos and a market or two. Near to Pattaya . I would love to live in Pratumnak, but unfortunately there is no Baht bus route there .

I don’t’ think any of you know his wealth, he still sees his family, I personally wouldn’t worry about him. He’s good where he is.

tonbridgebrit , after applying online to London, you then have to go there in person to pick up’your Passport !

So, just to confirm I understood right. My condo office always does the tm30 when I arrive. They give me a copy with my name and date arrived on it. I put this copy in my passport. After 2 months I ask for an extension 30 days, this copy is accepted by Jomtien ??
In the past, the office have given me the copy, AND I have been to Jomtien and done it myself, and got the Notification slip stapled into my passport !! So, I don’t need to go myself any moré ??

Thanks, of course , I forget the visa/ extension is cancelled once over the border !

Hi, if you get an appointment a week before your visa ( SETV) runs out, do you loose that week ? When I need the visa, I’m planning on flying into Vientiane and bus back to Bangkok. What’s the easiest way to get from Vientiane through to the Thai border please?

I will never forget a driver physically hitting and pushing a foreigner to make him move up, where everyone was already packed so tight you could hardly breathe ! His kids were looking on visibly upset, it was a disgusting scene !! The screaming cursing woman at the bus stop in front of the school , direction Jomtien, should also be sacked, she’s a shame to all thailand !

Moving to Pattaya from Phuket (Where to live?)
in Pattaya
Posted
I find the weather much better and cooler in Pattaya . Phuket gets very hot and lots of rain. Much more choice in supermarkets here too. Jomtien is quieter ,avoid central Pattaya. Forget The north Chiang Mai. The beach water is dirty though so find somewhere with a nice pool. You have transport so you can be anywhere in Pattaya area in 15/20 minutes. Stay a week in a hotel and look around.
