No, the older vaccinated are contracting Covid much less, and NOT needing urgent hospitalisation. On the other hand the people entering hospitals ARE the younger generations who have not yet had the vaccin !!! This has been observed all over the vaccinated countries.
secondly, The pandemic is in its third wave in Europe with staggering figures even though the good weather is here !! They are finding also the same stats, with in France a huge wave of school infections with to date 3500 schools being closed today.
I doubt that traveling abroad this summer / autumn will be possible / allowed.
Only vaccinating whole populations everywhere will help.-

Total lack of education in Thailand, you see it in all walks of life, in their work, in the way they trash their own country, in the way they totally don’t educate their children, and in the way they behave on the roads. Try cross a road, the lights are red, off you go, kids, grown ups they just carry on ahead driving around you , on their smart phones, moronic attitudes, policeman standing there too, makes no difference. Put up cameras everywhere, fine and confiscate, hit them where it hurts, drunk driving, confiscate the car for x months, big fines. Radars on all roads and motorways. Try the British way, it’s at least working.

Why should that concern them if they've been vaccinated? None of the vaccines give 100% protection against Covid 19 but there's not a lot of point in getting vaccinated if you're going to worry and behave as if you haven't had it.
Or should we get vaccinated and stay home, walk 2m apart and not meet people from other households?
But..... people get vaccinated mainly to protect themselves, to avoid becoming terribly sick , to avoid an overload in the hospitals and save beds .
For the moment there is not enough data to say how long the vaccin will protect you, and it will not stop you contracting a milder form of the disease, and it doesn’t mean you will not infect others.
i don’t want to get sick with this , I also don’t want to bring it to my elderly family while on holiday. Masks and distancing are here for a while, and there’s no answer as to how to manage tourism while the virus is still around. -
Kiwikeith,
Find out the figures before reporting fake facts. Millions of people vaccinated, 40 odd medical problems due to pre existing issues . Just don’t have the vaccin if you don’t like it, and carry on jumping in fright every time someone coughs or sneezes in front of you in the immigration queue. Nobody is forcing you.
Fact. 505 million people have already had their Covid 19 vaccin !!!-

Yes - one day he would have died anyway. Now earlier. BUT WAIT - I don't want to make such an experience. These vaccinations are not free of risks. This is a known fact in the meantime.
Hundreds of thousands of vaccinations, and 40 odd medical problems due to previous medical conditions. Work it out.

I m not living in Thailand full time , only October through to March, snowbird months. I’ve been coming since 1985 though. The change for me is in the attitude of lots of Thais, they come over to me as not happy anymore. Too many scams too, and a total disinterest in their jobs, waiters/ waitresses, shop girls, etc. I always go to the same restaurants, where the staff are nice and the food still good. Otherwise lots of places lacking in hygiene, and the filth on the streets is worse in my opinion, the sea water and air polluted. Such a shame. I liked Cambodia and the people, I love Bali and the people. I might choose a winter in Siem Reap and a summer in Bali, one of the quieter locations tho. After the Covid crisis of course, and after a stop on Phuket to see my old friends.
PS, for beaches and scenery the Philippines is the winner, and the ease of speaking English.

Britain has banned outbound tourism for the moment. There’s a chance other western nations will follow. Like it or not there is not much choice .

The “ sand box” could turn into a sort of “ leper colony “ couldn’t it ?

They probably look like they used to , 30 years ago ! I’ll never forget my first winter on Phuket, staying on Kata Beach at Cool Breeze bungalows , 1985, no supermarkets , one village shop telephone to call home with a stop watch , eating at Chao Kuan bungalows with the family who became my best friends, sunsets with a beer , my best memories of Thailand.

(untill now their 14 days quarantine = 15 nights in the hotel)
Nobody really knows yet . What visa did your mum get ?

I don’t think BA have thought this through, and have only looked at their benefits. As mentioned above, too many un answered questions still. Also, will BA then be responsible for bringing travelers in from all the red countries that have or have not been vaccines ? Potentially re starting a pandemic ?
i think PCR testing should be law before traveling to another country, by land, boat or air, surely a small price to pay for helping to keep everyone safe. -
What evisa site is this ?

Hi, those people who have bought outright their condos and live there, risk loosing everything ? Even in fully finished buildings ?

I’d given up the idea of retiring in Thailand a good while back mostly due to the very bad air pollution, sea pollution, fresh food I don’t trust anymore , and being obliged to give up my home residency in EU that’s guarantees me some of the best health care in the world and amazing quality food and wine.

I liked the View Talays, the few I visited were very old fashioned so didn’t work. As I rent , refurbishing isn’t worth it.

Unfortunately there’s always something wrong with one of their pools, and maintenance is appalling. Room fittings also cheap. It could have been nice, except the horrible blue color !

Nées, where are you from originally, you don’t sound British at all. And what age ? If your post is true, which I doubt , I will say that you have been scammed by this woman. Cut your losses now and have nothing more to do with her. Later, go back and try to sort out the missing documents with a lawyer. Cut her off completely, you’ve been “ had”.

Obviously not many of you men have been harassed, followed, touched , leered at by women ( or men) while having a walk , doing your shopping, crossing a road, sitting on a bus, standing on the metro, train etc etc etc. It can be a disgusting experience and at times very very frightening ! It also happens a lot to young girls, tho I suppose many men probably find this ‘funny’, or normal . The poster above who immediately tells his story of his own wife having a restraining order against him is someone who seems very angry , and everything relates to him and his anger. Really ! Have some empathy for the innocent girls and women who get kidnapped, murdered, hurt, every day just because they’ve gone for a jog round the park or walking home. This has nothing to do with if the murderer was a police man or not, sad tho that is, these sick men come from all walks of life.

Lots of information missing here. When did he arrive in Thailand , where did he quarantine, after quarantine he only spent 3 days in Phuket where he done the PCR test to leave via BKK to the US ? Why didn’t he do the test within the correct time before flying ? Strange story, just three days holiday ? Also, if positive, he left and might have infected how many people in Bangkok, on the two flights and in US on arrival. ??

How about hotels that have rooms with an adjoining room ? Surely that would work fine ? Though agree an apartment would be much better especially for babies bottles, hygiene etc. A fridge for kiddie food . You can always arrange for a cleaner to come in.

I have seen on the French page that there are agencies in Paris , Rapid Visa etc, that take care of the whole procedure. I don’t know the price. Is this true ?
-
There’s still the problem of quarantine in Thailand tho. So, after 3 days allowed to the pool / garden . But what about food, are you still obliged to eat hotel food in your room ? I’d hate that myself.

Obesity is a killer, and when I see the young kids in Thailand, it really worries me. The junk food they pack from real young is awful. It’s bad everywhere of course, and I’ll never forget sitting on the beach on Isla de las mujeres in Mexico and seeing a US cruise ship tourists amble ashore . I’ve never seen hundreds of extreme obese people together before . I like to enjoy myself, and now and again eat a nice gâteau or drink a few , but I know my weight, I weigh once a week, and am much too vain to let myself go. Remember school photos, how many overweight kids did you see ? It’s all just being kind to yourself really.

Booking a business class flight to UK now- Good idea or not?
in Thailand Travel Forum
Posted
I’ve looked at flights too, and will consider a France / bangkok ticket, via Zurich/Munich/ Frankfort . More choice and also good business class rates. Important when booking go for the flex option allowing free change of date. Always direct with airlines too.Stick to good airlines and no red zone countries.
