  1. Picked up my CB650 from the dealer, drove it 20 feet - stopped. Something not right. Chain had maybe 1/8" of slack. Pushed it back - made them adjust it. Told them to deliver my CRF250 to my home - same thing - this time maybe a 1/4" slack. But at least I was at home where my tools were to adjust it. Now, in for warranty service, the word is - leave the drive chain alone. And afterwards - straight home to check things over. Always find something. Thankfully the 650 off warranty so they will never see it again. All comes down to poor wages, so they can not attract - or keep - quality help. Thai guy who wrenches my Dyna is Ace. Has more torque wrenches than me !

  2. I agree with Richard above. Can not see the appeal of ADV bikes. Too heavy for offroad, not well suited to the asphalt. Trying to do two jobs with one bike - always a compromise. I rode my Dyna on gravel roads in Canada heading to Alaska many times. On street tires. No issues. Want a street bike - want an offroad bike - you need 2 bikes. For what they charge is a no brainer anyway. And you do not have those two Galvanized garbage cans hanging off the side making lane splitting a real pain - if not impossible.

  3. Brazing only works for the old style copper/brass rads. You can pinch off tubes, but common practice was to unsolder tanks, and solder in complete new core. The copper oxidizes and rots over time. Newer ones are aluminum, which must be welded. As most all aluminum ones have plastic top and bottom - or side - tanks, replacement of just the core is not practical. New rad the way to go.

  4. Go to Police station. Fill out 2 reports - one for House Book lost, one for Blue Book for Car lost. Take the Police report for the house book to the Amphur. Take the Police report for the Blue car Book to the DLT. Arrive with copies of your Passport, including Visa page and entry stamp, 90 day report if applicable. Preferred  the person in the house book accompany you, with same copies as above, to Amphur. They will also need their Thai ID card. You did make copies of the books before you lost them, didn't you ?

  5. If it changes the HP or Torque it will effect the engine. Google search reveals nothing, but your pic says smart accelerator throttle control. Does it add fuel ? Who knows without any more info. As far as warranty, many newer ECU from the major manufacturers will be able to detect if the engine has been operated outside the design parameters i.e. makes more HP than the factory ECU provides. Right there is a dead giveaway - and bye-bye warranty is possible. UP 2 U

  6. The word 'Japs' is offensive and derogatory. And how is the Indians copying the Brits any less than if the Japanese do it ?  Back in the day my BSA - if not the worst bike I ever had was tied for that honor, almost entirely due to the electrics. To say nothing of the oil leaks and general dismal engineering and assembly. Did not improve until I installed Japanese stator and voltage regulator. But I am sure someone will start another 18 page Topic discussing the merits of this 1930's design. Which now has FI - so at least that is an improvement. Style sell much nostalgia.

^^^ Pray tell, what country are you living in? Pray tell, why no need to single out Thailand when this is the country we are talking about. Pray tell every country where this is standard operating procedure. Pray tell, prove that it is same same everywhere (very bloody difficult in my country).

Do not know where you are from. Makes no difference. Do you know that lawyers do not go to Justice school ?  They go to Law school. Two totally different things. He with the most money wins - as he can hire the best legal team. Everywhere.

  8. Headliners tricky to deal with. If you remove the metal bows that hold the fabric up, be sure to mark them front to back and LH and RH side or it will never fit properly. Best to remove with the fabric in one piece, keep together, and take to the upholstery shop when roof rack is mounted. They have the experience to replace without sags. And your choice of fabric too.

  9. Got into drag racing in the last 60's. Top Fuel was in the 6 second quarter mile times - where Pro Stock is now. All the so-calledMuscle cars were high13's low 14's. Altho the Boss 429 Mach One with a set of slapper bars and slicks were good for Hi 12's off the showroom floor. Seriously under rated HP to compete in Nascar.

  10. Painted our bathroom last year. Bought some from Tesco Superhighway with tape attached to the plastic. Ideal for covering tile from aprox 2 metre off the floor. Cheap - think 80 baht. Have 2 options - cloth tape or plastic tape. Choose the cloth - worked good. Poly on the floor. Done

  11. If it will only run with the choke out, you have an air leak somewhere.  Air is not going thru the carb to pickup fuel. Pulling in air thru the intake manifold maybe - it is usually rubber so will crack with use. Making the mixture super lean, hence the need for the choke to be on to richen the mixture. Spray WD40 around, once it coats the leak it will start, at least for a short while. Will allow you to find out where it is sucking air in. Then repait.

  12. Was getting the new PCX insurance and tax. Gave the Green Book, girl in insurance office types away, stops, looks at the book, looks at the screen, looks at me, asks for my passport. Gave her the laminated copy I carry everywhere. She checked, finished the insurance form. While I was waiting for the printer to make the copy, I asked her what happened. She turned her screen so I could see - two bikes, exact same Thai characters and numbers, one me, one what looked like a Russian name. TIT
