I still do not get it why the Thailand immigration allows o-a visa to enter but not one with o-a extension with multiple entries . Both went through the process requirements .I.e 800k /bank , 40/400k insurance coverage , etc,
you need to have your existing extension with multiple entries lapse and the reapply for the o-a visa , I do not understand Can someone please enlighten me please . -

Interestingly, I recently used a credit at a major hotel in hua hin, the machine accepted the card but the hotel did not cause the card did not have numbers printed on the card and they needed it for incidentals per hotel policy. So in this case, the hotel creates opportunity for the staff due to their credit card practices. love my credit card with no numbers printed

Thanks . I will wait and see. before you know it , April 2021 is here and there will be more visa options to apply to better cater long term stay retirees who made Thailand their home

I am currently in Thailand with an 0/a extension good till April 2021. I retired here with a condo, car and money in the bank ( not Married to Thai ). I am trying to find out any information of my options if I wish to travel back to USA to see my new grandson born early this year.
If leave today , I face not returning on my current o/a extension . It is Very confusing, money and time consuming with all the rules todate. Perhaps it is better to wait till ...but I like to hear forum readers ideas and thoughts returning to USA and back to Thailand . It is times like this I wonder if retirement in Thailand was a good idea.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated . Thanks

For those on long term stay who are Covid free (like after the mandatory quarantine ) it would be great to covert to this long term stay . Just a thought .

Perhaps you check On this type of visa when the information is made public . I do not think a deposit is required for this long term stay

For me, my gripe is not being one of the five groups being allowed to return to my retired Thai residence home . Thailand does not make me feel a welcome retiree in Thailand where I made my home here .

I just got my check today too , dated May 15th. Wish we can update to deposit to our account electronically versus waiting another 8 weeks for the next check .

Interestingly to those who retired here, have a home here , unmarried to Thai , on a o or oa visa , is not part of the group to return to Thailand , makes you wonder of our choice to stay Thailand as a retiree . Hmmm

For cimb Thai :
I had to have cell connection so that I receive the otp to set up my phone to work with the cimb Thai digital mobile app. Once I set up device with the app, I disconnected the cell Connection and was able to access my Cimb account via the phone app with no phone cell connection , So this is ok at least without mobile connection , just WiFi .

Thanks for your feedback .
Kasikorn while require cellular connection while on mobile banking , they have at least still allow Web login. Unlike cimb Thai , they removed web login when they came up with their new app.
I fear you are all right that the bank path is moving to mobile . I noticed Bangkok bank just came up with their updated mobile app. I just hope Bangkok do not remove web log in like cimb Thai .

Trying to get feedback from thaivisa readers.
With CIMB THAI Bank, “CIMB THAI Digital Banking”, app, they are no longer allowing access to your accounts via the internet ( CIMB Clicks removed) .
You can only access via their new mobile app on your phone. Any thoughts on this restriction as expat who travels?
Thanks for your feeback.

My o-a expire April 10. I have insurance to start on April 10 exactly . I am using the monthly income method so I plan to get the bank guarantee letter and the 12 months statement. I have monthly FTT since feb 2019 so I could go into chiang mai immigration As early as feb 25 ( Chiang mai allow 45 days in the past) but I am writing on this forum for advise due to this new insurance requirement. Any thoughts the best time to go in to apply ? Thanks

I have Pacific cross medical policy for my o a extension which also starts at 4:30 PM.
I wonder if I will encounter the Same problem here in chiang mai immigration; must have insurance Started prior to the expiry of my visa When i renew, I plan to go 45 days to apply before visa expiry?
I did ask Pacific cross if I should get insurance for “ additional time” before my visa expiry , they Can but there will be no certificate for the extra time which they cannot guarantee that immigration will accept.
Cannot seem to do the right thing nor know when or what is the right thing To do

I would appreciate a confirmation that this is “ The bank letter “that chiang mai immigration requires , See below Photo from Bangkok Bangkok. If this is incorrect, can some one please show an example so that I can ask the Bangkok bank .
Also, I am to make photo copies of my bank book that shows the 12 Ftt of 65k baht or more to supplement with the bank letter. Thanks for your confirmation .

For those who recently secured their oa extensions in chiang mai using the 800k deposit method , can you please share if the io required you to return in 3 months to show your 800 k deposit ? After reading this chiang mai immigration forum,I recall no requirement to return to immigration in 3 months to show 800k, appreciate a confirmation for chiang mai immigration , thanks

Oh yeah the money is not an issue but I was pretty much thinking exactly what you said. Although the 5 year visa sounds pretty good since I actually do qualify for it so I may look into that possibly.

i believe o x can only be obtained outside the country.
i do not think you can go in to get an o x I Thailand. Correct me if I am wrong

It would be great if This could be shown to the Thai immigration to show them what we have to go through and how inconsistent it is between immigration offices. This is Open to suggestions for improvement!
