Oh the irony!
Manna, sometimes or archaically spelled mana is, according to the Bible, an edible substance which God provided for the Israelites during their travels in the desert during the 40-year period following the Exodus and prior to the conquest of Canaan. It is also mentioned in the Quran three times. Wikipedia
Please explain how your comment is anything but meaningless and completely lacking in compassion for these poor people

Happy Easter!
You are undoubtedly one of the self centered "cigarette pigs" who behave as if they have the right to light up next to anyone who may be enjoying fresh air for however brief a period, especially when they are sitting and eating in a restaurant or cafe. Reformed smokers deserve 100 times the respect for having overcome a terrible addiction and recognizing and taking responsibility for the intrusions they have perpetrated on others. Vaping is available to anyone who cannot defeat their addiction, and of those addicts anyone who chooses to smoke around other human beings ESPECIALLY children is an absolutely disgusting self centered pig. 90% of the western civilized world has recognized this and as such banned smoking in enclosed and public places. The one good thing about smoking is that the smoker's addiction is not contagious like covid 19 is, but the smoke you give off and let blow into an innocent person's face is proven to be harmful to that person. Smokers, you are like heroin addicts who leave their used needles laying around for others to stick themselves with. If you keep your foul poisonous stench within the confines of your own personal space without polluting anyone else's clean air, great. But you don't, do you? You can get away with it in thailand so you run around happily indulging in your foul and reprehensible addiction.

I don't gloat over such failures. Any of you who do should be ashamed. It was good intention and correct thinking up to the point of a "failure of imagination" - that is, no experts in traffic engineering. There's no humor in this global crisis

While I enjoy a beer or 2 when out, booze/beer is like almost 0 priority in my life. And with no socialization, it's -0. It makes me sad to see so many people going crazy over this. I say this as a recovered alcoholic who pounded down straight Jack Daniel's every day some 20 years ago. .

They are running out of ideas to make all of this more miserable
I am running out of ideas as to why people like you seem to lack the most basic common sense. How old are you? 15? If you're so miserable leave and find a better place. We don't want to hear your juvenile whining. The rest of us whose common sense is intact and functioning can see that alcohol is a fuel and catalyst for social gathering, and whether one thinks it extreme or not one cannot fault the government for doing everything it can to ratchet back the numbers no matter how small an effect. I am not quite that conservative, but DUH this is not my country and it is not my business to second guess the measures which Thailand opts to take. This is not some contentious bureaucratic or immigration red tape issue, it's the public health at stake. It's my choice as an adult as to whether to live here or not. As an adult. Not a whining child. The corona cases in the very small state Connecticut where I'm from the US are nearly 10,000. Thailand reports about 2,400 and is not growing in numbers nearly as fast as in the US. And even if you think Thailand is underreporting there is no doubt that Thailand is faring much better than much of the western world. So do try to post some intelligent, useful, mature comments once in a while, won't you?

Why feel the need to distinguish between foreigners and Thais, everyone is in this together. It's unfortunate ThaiVisa is pushing the foreigner/Thai distinction with the stories it is highlighting, some issues are more important that clickbait revenue.
Unfortunately there is no cure for bigotry, and it is contagious especially in times of trouble. "Us v Them" mentality. Xenophobia etc.

Then advertising in the world media they are working ILLEGALLY. (Read the article in the link, the mother says she’s now teaching English online and they have renewed their visas for 30 days, which indicates tourist visas).
Love those who are quick to judge. Leaving the UK with children while in good health to an island which likely posed much lower risk AT THE TIME as well as a career opportunity seems like good thinking to me, but we can't all have the mighty crystal balls, wisdom, and psychic powers of the mighty RandolphGP.

If if they do get tested will you eat your words along with a side of crow? your attitude is highly inappropriate. This is no joke. Everywhere I've been in Thailand traveling since I came back from Cambodia 17 march shows me that every necessary step and precaution possible is being taken. I have seen nothing but professionalism and dedication on the part of Thai government and people, and that includes the police and immigration offices where I've been personally. So if you've got nothing helpful to say just zip it and go away.

The part where we are not under military martial law, nor subject to the arbitrary whims, narrow views and arbitrary declarations as to law from commenters like you, nor the part where exercising reasonable individual judgment that poses no real risk to others is not prohibited. And what part of “stay home” is under your personal jurisdiction? Are you the police?

If anyone gets sick of wading through the waist deep mud of misinformation in this topic, and hearing the ignorant fearmongering blowhards' proclamations of doom, here is the latest from the WHO, no surprise to see it predicted that we will get through this and come out basically OK, just as we have with all of the other "plagues" some of which were a lot worse - polio, H1N1, swine flu, sars, mers, etc.

In nation of 70 million people, 2 have died attributed to WuFlu since January, and the first person who died had existing lung complications.
700+ infections, or maybe it's 7000 because you don't believe govt stats, or maybe it's 70,000 because you don't believe govt stats and lots of people who have WuFlu aren't or were not sick enough to go to hospital and officially get tested and affirmed. Even if you chooses to believe 70,000 that is 0.001 of the total pop and but 2 people have died.
But govt, official doctors, leaders, and half the pop is crying the need to further shut down the country effectively applying martial law. Bankruptcies, loss of jobs, loss of incomes, and mass fear will most certainly drive the country into a bad depression and all the misery and deaths that come with it.
All because 0.001 of the population is wildly "guessed" at having WuFlu, or if you believe the govt, then it's 0.00001 of 70,000,000 people, and 2 people died.
The government has shot themselves in BOTH feet, and they are cocking the hammer and taking aim at their head. Sad that most people can't wake up.
Your using the racist and juvenile term "WuFlu" rather than the universally accepted medical term COVID19 erases all of your credibility as a human being. I would trust a 5 year old's math before I would trust yours. Your fearmongering is despicable. Would you do us all a favor and self quarantine from any further posts here? They are self serving and do no one else any good. Correction, I would not say self serving, I would say speaking of shooting yourself in the foot . . .

According to this reliable source, newscientist.com, "The differences between the two identified strains are tiny. In fact, they can’t really be considered to be separate “strains”, says Jones. And many of the genetic differences won’t affect the production of proteins, and so won’t change the way the virus works, or the symptoms it causes, he says. One is not more deadly than the other."

It would appear we have a xenophobic Thai doctor on the loose. Is he also gonna deport Farang who don't wear masks? -

Well done Chiangmai, finally number 1. Now if we can just be honest about the actual number of people infected by the Coronavirus we could be top of that league as well.
If the smoke is confirmed coming from neighboring countries how is this Chiang Mai’s fault? As to coronavirus, accuracy is not possible because (duh) it’s spreading too rapidly and (b) accurate testing is not always quickly available and (c) most healthy people infected either present no symptoms or very mild symptoms.. and the incubation period is up to 2 weeks. Many of the reported cases have turned out to be flu or something else. Lastly, if the number is 47 or a thousand, I can tell you from personal observation that the Thais are doing a good job addressing the issue with fever screening the general public, public service broadcast advisories, and providing hand cleanser in all possible public places. Do you actually live here? Anyway, how does Thailand’s accuracy in reporting affect you other than providing amusement and fodder for you to gloat and comment sanctimoniously with your cheap shots? Wouldn’t you like to actually know what you’re talking about when you comment, you know, and have some credibility? Or is proper research and study on a given issue too much work? Well we all know the answers right? Carry on with the cheap shots you silly boy

Do they know something the government doesn't know, or isn't telling us? Seems a little heavy handed given the allegedly very low numbers confirmed in Thailand.
What, you think banks and the government are not intimately and incestuously involved with each other on all matters, that there would be such paranoia fueled "secrets"? Why not take a look at what medical science has to say - coronaviruses do not survive long enough on such surfaces for disease to be transmitted that way. Unless of course someone is wiping their infected noses with bills and passing them. So yeah, it's about what someone "doesn't know" - it's about pure ignorance and desperation.

Gosh, common sense without drama and hysteria! You're ruining the fun for all the other commenters. Please don't add to this with science and medical expertise. Did you notice that not a single medical expert was cited in this story? So you're the closest thing!

My feeling, and I hope I am wrong, is that Songkran will cause an explosion of Corona virus cases nation wide. It could turn out to be a medical disaster.
I advice you to educate yourself on the topic. Pay a visit to a real doctor and ask any relevant questions. Pay particular attention to the topic of hand washing. So how do you figure people hosing each other down with water is going to spread viruses? Wild speculation uninformed by facts simply makes matters worse. Please stop making remarks like this. Science isn't something you just make up as you go along.

What do they know that we don't ?
They discovered the secret plot by the Chinese to wipe out mankind and destroy the world economy with a bioengineered virus. Happy now? Ok, facts. They know exactly what you and everyone else knows. That there are 45 cases. Out of a population of 70 million. That's .000064% of the Thai population. How many cases in your home country if you're not from here? They are acting out of fear and paranoia. You know paranoia, right? It't what you have in place of common sense and reason. There have been 16,000 deaths from the flu so far in the US this season. Shall the world declare a quarantine on the US?

Prayut appeals to the 20 richest Thais for help

I could never get a handle on who the good or the bad guys were in all that, but if he or his sister were "good guys" chances are they've already been helping behind the scenes anonymously. That's what I would do if I were them. I have helped out some needy local folks myself, I gave an out of work musician friend a couple thousand baht when he asked, and give 20 - 100 baht to each street beggar I pass. But if I were the Shinowatras and wanted to build good samaritan capital or somehow prove my political adversaries wrong about me then I would let it be known. It would be interesting to know what they are actually doing. I don't claim to know anything about it, but I'm inclined to think they are or will be involved eventually. This is too big a humanitarian crisis to be totally heartless and be uninvolved.
