These things are more complicated than most people are able to grasp. This kind of radical change acts like a fast moving blunt object, a swinging pendulum of force that goes one way when it's pushed in that direction, going past the intended target, knocking people over, uprooting and smashing things in the process. It happens everywhere, not just Thailand, it is the nature of change when it happens faster than people can keep up with. In this case, obviously the government had to do something to save and preserve the economy, I think we all understand that, and it is virtually impossible to foresee all of the repercussions. It's also impossible to keep government operating in a consistently effective and sensible manner

Wait, didn't someone beat him in 2020? Trump didn't win on the merits, everyone knows he beat a feeble old man who was virtually incoherent in the debate, Kamala just came in too late to turn things around. The democratic party handed it to him. Doesn't matter, he's only got 4 years, then everything he does will be undone. I don't even care, you can say what you want, I'm neutral, I came to Thailand and I'm 8,000 miles away from that dumpster fire, and that's the way I like it. Luckily, I don't run into people like you anywhere. Wonder why?

You're funny. Anyone who doesn't share your viewpoint is the enemy, right? Half the population of your fellow Americans are your enemy? That's the definition of un American. It doesn't matter which "side" you're on. It was called the UNITED states for a reason. Why don't you go back where you can get up every day and lick his and Musk's bυtt ϲrɑϲk morning noon and night? Yummy! You realize you're in Thailand where nobody gives a FIying ƒv(ϲk what you think, right? Nobody. Talk to the hand. dogshit.m4v

Thai Baht Set to Weaken as US Tariff Tensions Escalate
Jonathan Swift replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Keep in mind that this is the same seesaw that has always existed. If the baht weakens then the strong foreign currency's buying power will bring more dollars and other currency into Thailand, people will be more motivated to come here and spend. I will certainly be more inclined to bring more money in from the US. The exchange rate has been unusually low in favor of the baht for some time, between 33 and 34 baht to the dollar. It has not long ago been as high as 38 baht to the dollar. I will admit to not knowing enough about the actual Thai economy to understand the real impact of this on Thailand as a whole. I suspect, just as in my case, it doesn't affect the general population in any real sense. Cheers everyone, enjoy your day. -

First of all most of the Trump white house are functionally illiterate, so writing to them? Seriously? Secondly, the US doesn't care one whit what happens to Thailand, in Trump's eyes it's just another one of his <deleted>hόIe countries (his words, not mine). Thailand has nothing to offer Trump in return for favors. It's going to be quid pro quo for the next four years. Just forget about the US, as I have.- 80 replies

Thai PM Considers Easing Alcohol Sales Rules to Boost Tourism

Is that the rule then? I have a retirement visa and live here 7 - 8 months, sometimes more sometimes less, have an apartment with a lease, go back to the US May - Sept, avoiding the rainy season and minding the house I still own, but I'm not an "expat"? So I take it you rewrote the entire Webster dictionary? Can I get a signed copy? You're silly. Nobody cares. I don't even use the word, nor does anyone I know. Even the "real" expats. -

The US had the same silly "blue laws", now extinct for the most part. Yet, ironically, when legislature was on the table to allow sales on Sundays, liquor stores opposed it, they wanted to be able to have a day off without the competition stealing their business. -
Phuket Raid Captures Four Foreign Hackers Behind 560M Baht Scam

Too light. Keep them in Thai jail for a year or so before deporting them. No bail. Flight risk, duh. -
Well, looking into this, it's more than a few Israelis, and it's been going on long enough to be of serious concern. You're doing whataboutism, which is a 5 year old's finger pointing deflection from the issue at hand. Nyeah Nyeah Johnny did this, Susie did that. Your favorite ethnic groups get plenty of airtime of their own, I'm sure you're a great help with that. The money issues here are obvious. Thailand needs and wants tourist dollars, and that's why they are cautious about enforcement.
