I suspect many of the people on Walking Street don't want the world to know what goes on there!
Very simple solution. Stay away from Walking Street. I buy beer at 7-11 and drink it in my condo. I have yet to be beaten up by a store clerk. If I need companionship, my elderly, 37 year old girlfriend fills the bill quite nicely, when she's not working 12 hour shifts.

Never run a tab. Pay when served. Thais will KILL you over forty baht.

Sorry to say, but I believe all the info MORE than your doctor who is Thai I think!
My doctor was American. I only moved here two years ago. The hysteria surrounding this medication is insane.

The comments about this medicine are simply confusing. My doctor specifically told me that he chose Tramadol because it was NON-addictive and did not stop working after a long period of use. It has NO euphoric effects and does not enhance sleep. It simply makes pain endurable. Some of the comments about this drug, completely clash with the statements of my physician. Someone has incorrect information, and I hesitate to believe it is my doctor.

The only danger is that you might die of BOREDOM, if you are accustomed to places like Pattaya.

This is horrible news for those of us who live with chronic pain. It's the Thai way....throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Legalize medicinal marijuana and you don't need opiate's. Simple!
Why not let people grow a plant or two. No ones died of a marijuana overdose. You are asking too much of the Thai government. We can't be doing things that are RATIONAL.....that would go against "Thai culture".
-
Tramadol is NOT addictive. This was my doctor's rationale for prescribing it for my chronic back pain. The insane rumours surrounding this medicine are not helping people who need pain relief.

The only people that claim he threw the first punch were the group that put the guy in the hospital. The people that beat the shit out of the guy are the ones claiming that he threw the first punch.
On what planet is that objective police work or reporting? On what planet is that a credible group of witnesses?
Five will get you ten that the Thais threw the first punch. More of them need to end up in the morgue and you will see an end to this kind of madness. We are not welcome here.

Typical Thai overkill. Don't just react.......DESTROY!!!!! Same mindset with economics. When sales or tourism are low, jack up the prices and complain that the foreigners are to blame for all your problems. Victim mentality combined with overweening sense of entitlement. The universal mark of a LOSER!!!!

Wonder if the junta will ban overthrowing elected governments and installing your own?? That might solve a problem or two.

Why is this a LEGAL issue? Shouldn't monks be disciplined by their own community?
-
Cambodia seems to have the edge on Thailand in terms of enlightenment on this issue. Why not open legal casinos and generate more money in taxes?

Over 70 % are in for so called drug offenses - usually vulnerable women and poor people. The legal interdiction of the police and penal system does more harm to families, communities, and individuals than the drugs them selves-in all nations. The USA- Europe- The Arab world all use drug laws to fuel oppression, finance mafia and empower inefficient police. Truly the war on drugs is a war on the people-in all nations.
The most rational post that I have seen on this subject. Thailand is following the USA around in its hysterical war against those who seek relief from their crummy lives. Drugs serve a purpose.

Thai germ theory???

I'm curious to know if those charged with LM are among those being released. No specifics were given on this.

You were lucky that the bus wasn't full of mostly Thais. Routinely, Thais will side with their own even if they are thieves or worse. Farang mai dee and all that. The general mindset is that you OWE them money because you HAVE it. Simple as that. I carry NOTHING in my back pocket except a handkerchief. I wear cargo trousers with flap pockets so they are a bit more obvious when someone tries to put their hands in your pocket, Death penalty for thieves, no exceptions.

While basing a residence, even in part on who is president seems a bit silly to me, especially since you landed in Thailand which is probably not one of the last bastions of freedom, I do respect the fact that you did move, as opposed to those many so-called celebrities who promise to move and never deliver.
Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa ConnectThe difference is that I have no interest in Thai politics because it is not my country. I have been here for two years, so I did not leave because of Trump. Also, "freedom" exists in many different categories in Thailand. I am not particularly concerned about free speech.
-
One more reason why I do not intend to return to the USA. Trump cannot even be controlled by his own party.

This can do nothing but increase goodwill toward the new reign. Rama X is off to a good start.

Given the number they would sell daily, I'd say they've cut their nose off to spite their face.
It's the tried and true THAI method. Never fails.

If the kid is deported, I'd like to think Thailand could learn from something from this.
Thailand learns NOTHING.....neither does Japan. Both are nativist, nationalistic and racist in the extreme.

Quite different from the Cambodian monk I met while teaching at a university in the USA. He insisted on walking to the campus from his apartment, which was several city blocks away. When I asked him why he didn't take the shuttle, he said "....it's good exercise and a monk should not be hauled around like a CEO". I found this quite funny and humble. Such a different attitude. This man was very serious about avoiding any hint of ego.

One monk.....hundreds of police.

Merely the latest example of Thai hysteria. Meanwhile, sufferers of chronic pain must use inferior NSAID painkillers such as ibuprofen. Nearly worthless.
