Rest assured the screams from the offended Thais would be heard in Mandalay if the scenario was reversed and the Burmese did a soap opera in the same style as this.
EXACTLY!!! The purveyors of Lese Majeste are incredibly obtuse when it comes to the royal taboos of other countries.

Maybe if Thailand had modest social programs, the Cambodians wouldn't have to eat dogs. Yet another failure of the Thai state. Take care of your people to avoid bad publicity.
-
Another "no win" situation, brought to you by the "religion of peace".

Any government which threatens the BBC deserves to fall. The members of the junta overthrew an elected government and now they want to control the news.
-
What morons. Duel pricing taken to its logical conclusion.

Here's hoping that Geneva laughs in their faces. The very idea that Thailand supports human rights is an insult to intelligence. From the massive inequality here to the insane Article 112 provisions, Thailand is little more than a police state with nice beaches.

"Vaping".......it just SOUNDS illegal.

Psychiatrists and other members of the medical community say that "experimenting" is very common among four year olds. Tempest in a teapot. NOT "sexual assault".
-
As long as Thailand makes itself available as a "black site" for US torture purposes, they need not worry about their egregious abuses of human rights. Their willingness to play ball with America's military industrial complex has won them immunity from all forms of backlash.

I was not aware that ladyboys ever had a GOOD image.

How about NEVER.....does NEVER work for you???

Splendid news!!! Hope they died slowly and painfully.

Put all of that another way, would you (or anybody) allow your government to allow foreigners / visitors to be allowed to do things outside of the laws of your country?
Ever hear of "diplomatic immunity"?? It has been a standard for many years. Where Thai laws are fair and just they should be followed. Only democratic countries are qualified to judge the fairness and equitability of developing countries. Merely because they believe that a government should be for sale, does not compel the rest of the world to agree with them. If you believe that countries have the right to conduct their affairs any way they desire, go and live in North Korea, You may develop a better appreciation of the necessity for dissent.

Some of the poorest countries in South America provide health insurance plans that expats can buy into. They average 60 USD per month. Thailand cannot seem to do this, despite having more expats, who contribute to the economy.
-
Time for so-called "diplomats" to get medieval on Thai government officials. It's gone far enough. Defamation, Lese Majeste etc. Non-Thai residents should be immune from prosecution under these insane statutes.
-
More "blame the British" propaganda. Don't we Americans deserve equal time?? The ability of Thai people to lie to themselves is truly a thing of wonder.

This is so disturbing that it beggars belief. I have to wonder how many other cases like this have gone undetected and unreported. Very sad.

Wise decision. One of the STUPIDEST ideas to float out of the Junta cesspool.

....and when the local economy begins to sag.....A:LWAYS blame the farang.
-
The idiocy of farangs trying to "go native" and be offended by feet and other insane cultural artifacts of the Thais, is pathetic. Their culture is theirs but it is dying swiftly. Good riddance to superstition and ignorance, Feet, indeed.
-
Prosperity is just around the corner.
-
Thailand: offended by FEET. Not offended by corruption and fraud. Simply amazing. The stultifying ignorance of a culture that places such importance on FEET, deserves the contempt of every thinking human. The obscenity of poverty is expected by these people, but FEET are just too much to handles.

Not since the Nixon administration, has a President started a war on the media. Bad precedent.

What possible good can it do to ban service to Soi Buakhao?? The overreach is uncanny.

Same situation in the USA, actually. My last job before retirement was with an American university and it was well known that "loose lips" on Facebook and other social media could be deadly to your career.
