I hear the alien form has been given up
It may have been given up in CM, but they are still passing them out at Jomtien, along with a similar form titled "Additional Information"
I have watched them SHRED these forms. Bureacracy.

VERY bad move on Raul's part. Trump cannot abide those who fail to prostrate themselves to his regime. All sorts of opportunities for war. La Vida Loca.

My point is made. Typical Thai chaos. Bar code works fine in Jomtien. No problems...(thus far_

A politician of ANY country can never go wrong by scapegoating foreigners. It works because stupid people want to blame their problems on someone else. Personal responsibility is a rare human trait. It's even worse here in Thailand.
-
Apparently, the TM47 is only needed for the first report. After that, they scan the bar code. YMMV. They reverse course on a whim about every thirty days.

So if your miserable you should be ashamed of yourself as many other people would jump through hoops to be in your shoes. That's depressed me more. No all the advice given hasn't helped one jot. I'm fed up. Nothing is wrong, no bad news? Hmm the world is coming to an end. The Brexit, Trump, etc.. Nothing on the horizon. No hope, we're waiting for the day they say out. Out you go. No more cheap Charlie. It will happen and soon. There is always Cambodia. If the Thais are stupid enough to kill their cash cows, then Cambo will welcome us with open arms. It's a bit more rustic, but very flexible.

It's needed to enforce those LM laws. National security and all that.

...its a clear proof how little reliable TV F Members are giving advices and statements.
True. I've seldom gotten usable advice here, just parroting of how it's done in Chiang Mai or Ubon Rachathani or Hua Hin. Jomtien has more reasonable officials for some reason.

Highway robbery. Glad these thieves were apprehended.

I just remind myself that I am in Thailand, where many men would LIKE to be.

Interesting that it all worked out when the general consensus of opinion on TVF was that this guy was toast.

A firing squad comes to mind. Why do you need immigration in Thailand when the people who want to relocate here have more money than the general population? If that were the case in the USA, they would be rolling out the red carpets.

The idea of MORAL values in Thailand is laughable at best. Money uber alles. Farang Mai dee. Thai numba one.

Please elaborate on that a wee bit.
Hard to explain, but the essence seems to be "...I deserve it because I am Thai and YOU......are an outsider." It's a form of entitlement which many groups feel because they deem themselves, somehow "superior" to other groups. Thais are not unique in this feeling. Japanese feel this way, as well. Many in southeast Asian countries look down on Thais as lazy and entitled. Not at all far from the truth.

I guess you were not scammed
He was scammed. If it is, in fact, illegal...he should not have been allowed to buy items at Duty Free that were in violation. This is obviously a scam involving the resale of items such as perfume and booze by the authorities. Just another example of the corruption that is endemic in Thailand.

BRAVO!!! I am hopeful that Thailand can benefit from judicial activism as America has. The next step should be lawsuits aimed at easing overcrowding in prisons and forcing humane treatment for inmates. If Thailand is serious about moving into the 21st century, it is imperative that the courts act on issues that move a country from third world to first world status.

I would make every immigration office a separate entity, and authorise them to interpret the immigration law, any way they chose to. I would encourage inconsistencies between offices, even within the same office. I would have 3-4 databases, not linked. I would try to have many "open other end" procedures in place.
This post should win an award.

The "overstay problem".....is no problem. It is trumped up imperial hubris crap by tin-pot despots who are desperate to appear to be doing something constructive. Those who overstay are merely spending more money in Thailand. They are doing NO harm. They BENEFIT the economy.

Another soon-to-be victim of the BIB. He'll sit in jail for at least a year before they charge him with some phony offense.

Flat yearly fee to retire here, no ninety-day reports. Felony convictions out, all others IN. Keep it simple.

Would a visa even be a problem for a monk?? Any answers? I would think this might be a notable exception.

There seems to be a sick fascination with 15 year old girls among the male Thai population. I get the feeling that this is often not taken seriously enough by police.
-
The essence of Thai entitlement. They cannot accept the fact that they are not a major player in any sense of the word.

So,do you believe that ALL Thai people are the same as the soldier?
I see elements of this kind of logic in many or most interactions with Thais. Criminal narcissism is how psychologists frame this type of thinking.
