  1. Now I understand why this country awash with foreign workers from neighbors countries,

where I go now be it supermarkets, large venues, small to large factories and restaurants

are all staffed with Burma, Vietnam Chinese and Cambodian workers,

Thai people are too busy with their protests, rallies and demonstrations to really do a day's

    work...

  2. I've seen many condo building where some condos are unsold for years but still go up in price every year. They don't seem to discount to get rid of the final few condos as they would in many Western countries. Units can stay empty and unsold forever I assume. I've seen some very old condos with units still for sale.

My observation regarding the remaining unsold units are that not only they don't drop

the price for a quick sale of what are obviously the least attractive unit/s left in

the project, they actually jack the price up for some reason, have a marketing idea

that this is what it needs to get rid of left over units, unbelievable,

  3. Thank to all on goo advice, I think soon, I will have no choice but to schlepp this beast

to the repair shop for a look over, just to safe, and if I can find a reasonably priced

good size and powerful replacement, I will retire this one for good...

  4. Sometimes it helps to be old fashioned. tongue.png

I don't have an ATM card and don't intend to ever have one.

Hear, hear, 26 years in Thailand, financially very comfortable, both here an in Oz

and never ever used an ATM card and never even posses one, always keep just

enough cash around for my weekly spending.... very old fashion...

  5. Adding ones name to a blue book saves a lot of hassles when applying for local permits

such the yearly international driveling license, visa applications abroad, banking

and whole host of other applications whereby you're looked at more favorably

if you can show that you're not a tourist of some sort and you have a permanent

resident in Thailand, the nature of the beast, and as a single guy, I have to do all

the applying and talking with the authorities by my self, and having such document

    will help...I hope..

  6. I know, this subject been done many time before, the other day, went to the Wattana Amphe office

in Soi Thonglor, to put my name on my condo's blue book, Oh, not so quick, says the glum looking

official and gave me a list of things to prepare,

as it turned out, I need to professionally translate my passport and have the translation verified and

endorsed by the foreign ministry, than arrange for 2 Thai witness who know me very well to come

for an interview in 4 months time from now as the up coming elections are in the way and they can

only interview 2 applicants per day, (must be hard work to ask few questions and look at some docs)

in the interview, he's going to ask me about my history and family history and a whole host of other

qualifying questions to be able to put my name on a condo that I have owned for year now,

Mind you, all of info I'm getting while seeing this fella in person, in Thai, and strangely enough for

an area that thousand of foreigners owns property there, not one word in English is to be seen

in that Amphe office, much less forms in English or any other language for that matter,

  7. How can it be possible that "Kitti said local villagers had collected Bt100,000 as a reward for finding the people responsible for the death of the gaurs", when nobody appears to have been implicated thus far in the deaths? Typical sloppy reporting, contradictions and confusion generated in The Nation's article, leading one to believe that there is far more to this story than meets the eye and a proper investigation by some decent journalists is required to get to the bottom of it. Probably not for the faint-hearted, however, knowing the conflicts of interest inherent in Thai National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries that can lead decent and honest officials to suicide. sad.png

Is it possible that the "reward" was a collusion between a group of people whereby one

party point at the culprits and second party willing to be the scape goat for part of the

Reward? I for one, wouldn't put it pass any Thai person when there is an easy money

    to be had...

  8. With all the LLC (low cost carries) nibbling at the hills and taking business from 1st tier

airlines, no wonder why TG is in the lurch, I booked AAX BKK-MEL this month RTN

for b.21,000 inclusive 30kg luggage, food and seats selected while TG want b.38,000

for the same, soon AA Thai will fly non-spot direct to Oz and TG will have a real challenge

    on their hands....
