THAI police say an American tourist has died after apparently being trampled to death by elephants in a national park.

The US Embassy in Bangkok confirmed the death, but gave no details.

Police Col. Woradet Suanklaai said the woman went missing on January 13 in Kaeng Krachan National Park in the western province of Petchaburi.

He said searchers found her battered body in the woods five days later, and it was likely she had been trampled by elephants because of the severe injuries.

Col. Woradet said the woman was travelling alone.

He said police have sent the body to a forensic institute in Bangkok to determine the cause of death.

  2. I have an ideas Mod... how about initiating a nationality poll, just for general knowledge

    and the fun of it,

In this poll, members of TV will indicate their country of origin or birth to see who many of

want nationalities are present on TV, needless to say that this is only for fun and not recial

    nationality or alliance profiling....

  3. This mosque should have been given the approval to be built only if and when those

Islamic terrorists that kills thousands of innocent Thai people will cease and decease

    from the terror activities,

This policy of appeasement will not work and only will strength their resolve to set up

an Islamic entity in the south of Thailand...

What about all the Muslims who aren't terrorists? Are they not entitled to a place of worship, if other religions are?

And how does the presence of an additional mosque impact on the prevalence of terrorism, anyway? Or are you just doing that thing like in school where the teacher punishes the whole class for one pupil's actions, draconian methodology really which will only cause further resentment amongst minority groups.

I have nothing against other Muslims who goes about their life as law abiding citizens,

there are plenty of local mosques to cater for this community, but most of all, in these testing and tumultuous times where there is unrest and animosity and mistrust between the local non Muslims and the Muslim community you don't go and build a grand mosque on public land and what more on a national reserve land,

this will only serve to infuriate and widen the divide between the two religions...

  4. Rejoice foreigners, you're not the only one being ripped off by Thais, as it seems now Thais

rip off other Thais providing motorcycle rides transport services to a blocked areas of Bkk,

while actually enjoying unlimited free food at the protests sites,, now that's is rich...

and those motorcycles guys see nothing wrong with that as one of the quipped: 'we turning

crises into opportunity' yeah, opportunity to rip of your fellow country men....

  5. This is MY experience as of this morning....

TG ticketing offices in Bkk not picking up phone calls, some have a recording that

says that due to the unrest the office will be closed, others, no message no recordings,

silence, it appears that TG staff is very quick to hold the protest as an excuse not to come

to work...and that everybody is wondering why is TG going to the crapper...

  6. I also gave True the boot and got CTH installed, if you're a sport fan than this is a good

place to be, otherwise CTH is ok for the money, far cheaper than True, but it's a bit non

user friendly when it comes to their contents and equipment, and the service department

if you have a problem is pretty much slow, some time very slow, still, what other choices

do we have here in Bkk ??

  7. And on a related topic TAT announced they expect to see a 40% increase in tourists arriving in Thailand to month end Jan, due to increased booking of urban adventure tours around Bangkok, which will allow tourist to experience first hand Thai democracy in action

Any one who have been to Thailand for a while now knows not to take TAT figures seriously,

they just do they their job by farting numbers, good numbers, why they can ALWAYS say

that it was an honest mistake and the junior staff is responsible,

  8. Now I understand why this country awash with foreign workers from neighbors countries,

where I go now be it supermarkets, large venues, small to large factories and restaurants

are all staffed with Burma, Vietnam Chinese and Cambodian workers,

Thai people are too busy with their protests, rallies and demonstrations to really do a day's

    work...

  9. I've seen many condo building where some condos are unsold for years but still go up in price every year. They don't seem to discount to get rid of the final few condos as they would in many Western countries. Units can stay empty and unsold forever I assume. I've seen some very old condos with units still for sale.

My observation regarding the remaining unsold units are that not only they don't drop

the price for a quick sale of what are obviously the least attractive unit/s left in

the project, they actually jack the price up for some reason, have a marketing idea

that this is what it needs to get rid of left over units, unbelievable,

  10. Thank to all on goo advice, I think soon, I will have no choice but to schlepp this beast

to the repair shop for a look over, just to safe, and if I can find a reasonably priced

good size and powerful replacement, I will retire this one for good...
