  1. If anyone, who does not work, has received an METV from The Los Angeles Honorary Consulate I would appreciate hearing your experience and what the requirements were.

    Thanks

I got mine from there last month and am in LOS now.

    The website is self explanatory.

How old are you? I am older and just put retired.

If not, send them an email and ask they got back to me within 24 hours.

I am older. One requirement listed is note from employer. I don't have one. Am retired.

Can you please PM me with the email. Bernard, the farang who works, there told me to email or call him. But received no answer. Happy to hear you got a response. Maybe you used a different email address.

he's a good guy, maybe busy, try again
  2. Go out and get some Stun Guns and carry them, the Noise alone scares the crap out of them, No need to touch the dog but maybe rabid would still be aggressive and you might need to shock him, we were surrounded in Pattaya by 6 of them and my gf pulled it out of her purse and they ran off, supposedly 100 baht fine for having one, but sold all over especially police uniform shops accessory shops.

  3. From what I have seen all the banks screw when you use a foreign ATM card in Thailand.

You pay for the ATM transaction 180baht and then the rate is lower and if I am not wrong there is also a foreign currency conversion fee of 2.5percent.

I think all up the best way is to open a thai bank account and then find the most cost effective method of doing an international transfer maybe using forex or moneygram or someone that doesn't charge too much and/or gouge you on the fees.

You can also go into the banks in Patts with passport and withdraw more than the ATM limit. I have done numerous times.

I come and go so much that I usually bring large wads of cash with me in high demonination bills because I hate paying all those bank fees.

    200 baht , Now
  4. Sorry to hear this about Carl's Jr. as this is my favorite chain in States. Even prefer over In-and Out in CA. I ate at Central Carl's about a year ago and it was great. I also remember Hippopotamus in San Francisco back in the 50's. Reason I remember it so well is I was proud of my self for learning to spell it when around 10 years old. Haven't tried there hamburger here, but will give it a try. Forgive, just having past memories. smile.png

yeah Hippo closed in '70,s, Missed, Carl's Jr. Guacamole burger was pretty good, too
  5. If they step over the line by that trying to dip your wallet or rob you, just smash them straight in the throat, no warning just do it. It may well save your life from
    them if high on yaba.
Crush their adams apple causing death by asphyxiation...then spend your life in the bkk hilton...being someones butt boy.

I prefer the pepper spray idea but no one has mentioned where i can buy one.

Thats a bit extreme….the idea is not to electrocute (and possibly kill) someone and get a whole lot of law enforcement involved…the idea is th make the assailant reconsider his/her plans with the gentlest possible reminder.

Pepper spray fits the bill….where can i purchase in bkk or pattaya….and like most things thai, does it work or is it fake?
    Illegal to carry

  7. A few on here have talked about other terrorists being as bad as the Muslims. Well the likes of the IRA etc kept their terrorism ,(and believe me I do not defend it) localised and only killed a small proportion of I faith or country. The difference with the Muslims is they kill worldwide. They seem to hate everyone. Even their own kind

I'm sure the relatives of that Small number of people including children, killed by the IRA will agree with you.

Well if they had not bombed the British ,there would have been no need
Do you Really believe that Nonsense... My God Claude...

  9. 26 per cent of road accidents were caused by drunk driving.

    17 per cent speeding.

And the remaining 57 per cent ???

It's difficult for me as a driver to check if someone is drunk in an other car but most on the time when I pass someone driving erratically, he (she) is on the phone !

In Bangkok, I live near a four lanes (2x2) road with frequent accidents. More than half of the drawings on the road are clearly from motorcycles.

On inter province speed ways, the main problem I encounter are 1/ people blocking the right lane when they are not passing an other vehicle, 2/ people using the road shoulder when the traffic on the main lanes slow down.

By far the most dangerous drivers in Thailand are drivers of public transport vehicles, of any kind.

. Cement trucks and semi drivers should be Jailed Immediately
