  1. Depends entirely on how successful (90% coverage?) the vax program is, and how much (a lot?) that reduces infections & hospitalizations. But mostly, internationally, evidence of full vax will be demanded for most big things - plane travel being the obvious one. The anti-vaxers can almost certainly say goodbye to their international freedoms. And fake certificates will quickly get stomped on as the technology moves forward everywhere.
  2. I seem to have lost interest in constantly scrolling through endless threads on AN. This happened after my first Pfizer jab last Thursday. With 2nd jab coming up in 2.5 weeks and jabs gradually spreading thru the lesser provinces such as mine, there doesn't seem much point any more.
  3. Nothing surprising in this though you would need to look at the two growth lines over, say, the last 10 years to have a better idea. Currently Thailand 70 million population & nominal GDP US537b; Vietnam 96 million population & nominal GDP US340b. Personally I would expect V to overtake T in the 2030s: simply harder-working, higher productivity, better organized. And they have a nasty northern neighbour with whom they went briefly to war in the 1990s, and who continues to threaten them daily in the Sth China Sea - nothing focusses both government & people better than that. As for those who think that pretend 'communism' or 'socialism' are still relevant to the question, just look at China. Nowhere's perfect but the trend lines are clear ...
  4. We all complain about the state of government computing here but I was impressed when I rang BKK Hospital in Khon Kaen this morning to cancel my registration for Pfizer on 12 Sept (on the ground that I'm already 50% Pfizered with expatvac here in Surin). Basically as soon as I was put through to the English-speaking receptionist, she knew from my phone number what my name was and my p/p number. So something was working pretty well at that end! When you see a system working like that, you have much more confidence in the outcomes.
  5. My phonecall was taken by my b/f so not sure where it came from but I also received an email which was from Prasat Hospital (public) here in Prasat. Main thing is they're working thru the list so don't despair!!
  6. I was thinking, you know, I wouldn't mind a um Would a Mazda 6 be OK?
  7. As Moza above, about 30 or so falangs (among a huge but more or less separate crowd of Thais) at Surindra Rajabhat University yesterday morning. Went as smoothly as large numbers & Thai bureaucracy allow. I was in & out in 90 minutes (Pfizer 1st jab). Smiling & helpful staff. And all on expatvac.
  8. I got my first expatvac Pfizer shot yesterday in Surin at Rajabhat Uni. Dozens of other older falangs there, and half a million Thais. The falangs all (as far as I'm aware) from the expatvac registration in early August. We got rung up & emailed on Wednesday this week, in my case by Prasat Hospital just down the road from where I live. 2nd Pfizer jab scheduled for 16 Sept. This morning I rang the BKK Hospital in Khon Kaen to cancel the Pfizer shot I was waiting confirmation on for 12 Sept. So there's a slot there for someone else.
  9. Excellent. Will spread round the world, rather like a virus - but a good one. The stupid & ignorant decisions that the emotionally unbalanced make have consequences, and not just for themselves. Only right they should pay.
  10. All done today (1st Pfizer jab). In & out at Surindra Rajabhat Uni in 90 minutes. Slightly stressful with large numbers of administrators & jabees - both Thais & falangs - running in all directions, but done with a smile and people very helpful. Next jab in 3 weeks.
  11. Province: Surin Date: 26 Aug 2021 Location: Surindra Rajabhat University Age: 72 Condition: Healthy How registered: expatvac Vac received: Yes 1st jab Type: Pfizer Having registered 1 August with expatvac & nothing heard since, I was rung out of the blue yesterday by Prasat Hospital to go to Rajaphat Uni today at 1100. As a well-trained Oz former bureaucrat I got there 20 minutes early with everything a Thai bureaucrat could possible demand: b/f with camera, p/p, d/l, WHO vax booklet, proof of address and clean undies (As my mother would have said: You never know ... ). Was a bit disordered - overwhelmed by numbers of people (mostly Thais getting their SV or AZ) and the Thai specialty in complex administration tottering on the edge of chaotic. But all done with smiles and helpfulness and really no cause for complaint. The actual jab was over and done in about 7.3 seconds and I didn't even know it had been done. Was out after 90 minutes. No bad effects since though my usual 65-minute post-prandial snooze was some 2 hours and a very deep sleep. 2nd jab confirmed for 3 weeks (16 Sept).
  12. What phone number did you call them on? Having had my first Pfizer shot this morning via expatvac here in Surin, with 2nd shot in 3 weeks, I would like now to cancel my registration for Pfizer on 12 Sept at Bangkok Hospital Khon Kaen. I don't want to hold a slot there that I now won't use and someone else can use. My google map gives me 043-042-888, but you may have something better or more direct? Cheers
  13. Yes, agree with all the above. Had my first Pfizer shot (expatvac) in Surin this morning. All good. And good to see the vaxes spreading now steadily through the smaller 'lesser' provinces.
