  1. So, reading these posts I see that I missed the point, it was just an excuse to get away from the missus for a day or two? dam_n, I had thought that I would be feeling inferior throughout intensely serious discussions about agriculture. Put my name down for next year, will ya?

Half of the attendees brought the missus, wink.png - and you might find some of us too pedantic? whistling.gif

Only bar girls here none of the other ones, they all live down south. Anyway Bergen was there to keep me safe and he is right, slept in worse places.

It was the bar owners fault, he droped me of on his bike at the wrong resort, so when staggering dowm the road to the right resort, thought I would have a nap on the way. Jim

  3. Thanks for the concern guys. No just too many things that had to be done. And by the way, not my sausages, I was just trying to give a friend a boost. He uses my pork.

No time to unconfirm the confirmation No 1? rolleyes.gif

and btw, I was looking forward to sample b4 buying wink.png

  4. Monkeys in Kantharalak? I heard that they had all been killed and eaten by the locals. whistling.gif

The real story is that an older starving American, Less Brain had eaten the last species on his ranch during rainy season. coffee1.gif

I have noticed a maniacal pot smoking American man who was twice married to a Phuket Prosti, Brainless, 60+, running nude in the streets of Kantharalak. Quite a brave lunatic if u ask me..

What an interesting lot you hang out with to be vested with such knowledge.

    When you like monkeys............................whistling.gif

  5. Spent 2 days searching for a rental, seems there are practically no houses for rent in Ubon at the moment. So we ended up buying a house,an unexpected purchase, but probably a good investment at the rate that Ubon is growing.

Now for the house warming party.

Let me know when it is eh. smile.png

You will come undercover then? whistling.gif

  6. All of the land I have was cleared decades ago and was used in the rainy season for rice and chillis. You couldn't get water to the rice paddies every year so the land wasn't very productive. The purpose of the farm has always been for profit, it just took us a while to figure things out. The purposes of the post were hopefully to see some of the farms of other posters and possibly network with folks in my area or within 5-7 hours drive. It's not organic and it's not permaculture. It's just a farm, but it's my farm and it's makes me (and the family) happy. If you're in the neighborhood and I'm around, you are welcome to visit.

  7. Per Capita, western countries consume many more resources than asians do. BUT when you consider over 60 percent of the worlds population existing in only 2 countries(India and China) you must also factor in Overpopulation. We have exceeded Capacity and this is especially true in Thailand. We still need to find a way to STOP the illegal Wildlife trade and increase the population of endangered species, so its time to go out and raise awareness. Who wants to make an appearance at my seminar this weekend! Thailand Needs MORE Motivational Speakers!

So where do you have your seminar, and who do you represent?

  8. There is no problem taking pics of weed, as it grows everywhere in the rainy season! biggrin.png

But Bergen do your weed patches also sprout Toyota Vigos? May only be one, but I never even imagined that anyone could grow a "NATURAL" Vigo. Surely the fodder option I suggested pales into insignificance against the offer Toyota would make on the IP rights to that! Zillions of baht, Sam you are a made man! Lucky bugger...

Oops, didn't notice the Toyota in the weed. But that's natural for me, as my eyes are getting more "selective" with the years............. biggrin.png

  9. I'm another who found this market disappointing. The one on the Laos side at Chong Mek is more interesting. It used to be possible to visit this market without a visa but I think one is needed now, which reduces the value for money.

Chong Mek is after Phibun Mangsahan ( Ubon Ratchathani province) at the border. Guess you meant Sawannnakhet, over the friendship bridge, coming from Mukdahan.

I think he meant the market at the Lao side of the Chong Mek border crossing. biggrin.png

  10. Hi all the day is drawing near and there are a few maybes still out there, Just like to get a few confirmations, so I know how much food for the BBQ.

Also anyone who has tried to call, we have been rained on big time and the signal is not good at the best of times. In the rain it is non existent. Will be going to the big city of Det Udom tomorrow and will have phone and signal for most of the day. Jim

As said before, I'll be there! Book the best suite for me! biggrin.png

  11. Not much rain around here down by the Cambodian border in Ubon province between Nam Yun and Khao Phra Wiharn.

Had an hour of downfall yesterday afternoon, and that is normal for the season...... smile.png

we've had heavy rain all night, and the sound from insects and toads? can be heard everywhere...........biggrin.png
