Is that the one at the Phrompiman Hotel?

The Cuckoo's Nest sounds good, closes a bit early?!
You could go to Nona afterwards......
What and where's Nona

I would recommend Smile rest. in Srinarong rd in Ubon. Good food, red wine, Live band which plays mostly "farang" music. Location : a couple of hundred meters in after turning west at the south west corner of the city park.
Jum Pa Hom in Pitchitrangsan rd is another on in Ubon. Location: 100 meters east of the Laithong hotel.
Both places opens around 17.00.
Plenty more options in Ubon, and I'm sure others will come up with their favourites!

David and Mike
Further to this, will your respective lawyers provide a Thai to English translation as recognised and approved by the British Embassy. I need to translate my nippers hospital and Amphur Birth Certificates for Passport application.
Thanks
They do not do official translations. These must be done at a registered translation school or office. There are several in Ubon.
Or opposite the British Embassy in Bangkok. There is a small shopping center opposite the embassy (its connected to Ploenchit BTS by a walkway). On the 2nd floor (first floor to us Brits) there are two translation agencies where you can get most things done within a couple of hours. They charge the same, so no point trying to play them off against each other on price. Basic one page stuff costs about 500-700 baht from memory. Yep - see you at the August hash
and on the North West corner of Ubon city park/Thung Si Muang, there is a school in/near the itersection, that does translations............

Gerhard in Ubon gave his name card a few years ago. He spells his name GERHARD on the card. This must be his preferred spelling of his name in Ubon. Whether it is correct or not I don't know. But for sure, if I got my name card printed I would print correctly the name I would like to be called.
Who said incorrect had anything to do with the first name?

Not the same one, we get an invite every year from the SME Dept of Issan, invite only paid by the Government. Jim
Wet feet takes it's toll.Wife last week attended the Small medium enterprise business conference in the Sunee centre Ubon. Government guy gave a speech on development of Issan. Gather he made it plan, everywhere in Issan was a target except for Ubon. Ubon needs no Government assistance for re location of industry, it is growing at a pace that in a few years will out cost BKK. Don't know why so many companies have started to re locate, but they seem to be coming in droves. Sit in any bar, coffee shop and look at the number of new cars driving by, or for the older hands how much traffic. Place is just booming. Jim
My mrs went to a Sunee thingy but it was a money thing. Fast exit.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, as to what you can get, jungle food and crap. Never made other inquiries as to contraband [ guns ] etc. Easy to find ask anyone and think there are signs now. JimDepends on why you want to go, you can cross at Nam Yuen for the market and you don't need a visa, if all you are interested in is having been in Cambodia. Jim
Do you have anymore details on this James? What days are the market on, directions from Nam Yeun, is the market any good? etc etc!
The market is called Chong Ahn Ma (spelling). From Nam Yun going towards me/Kantharalak/Khao Phra Viharn on rd 2248, turn left a few hundred meters after passing Nam Yun hospital, and it's about 10 km up in the Dong Rak mountain range.

SantiSuk was referring to a restaurant in Kantharalak, where there indeed are several Germans, Swiss, Austrians and others gathering on a regular basis!

I hope herr Gerhart is ok with you putting his name and phone number on an open forum, even though it's not the correct name?

I'm with you, wife seems to think shopping is the highest form of human endeavor. I on the other hand think beer drinking is the middle path to enlightenment. JimBUGGER ! More shops for the "missus" to spend money in,that I haven't got.
Need more beer to numb the senses.
Cheers
I'm sure it can be sorted out, and I'm willing to help out!

Had a bottle of South African red on Tuesday, which went down well. Nice place and atmosphere!

We are referred to as beer drinkers with a running problem. At this latest event, the after hash included a bbq, where the Hare dished up with home made burgers, hot dogs, mustard, ketchup, majo, and more.
The Ra turned on his 4wd ghetto blaster, and after a few inviting phone calls, we were a good crowd having improvised fun by the lake, while all bars and waterholes were closed because of local elections of some sort!
-
Jim, where are you??
-
Good news!
-
Mike? Is that really you?
I thought you must have carked it or something!
Good to see you posting again.
You wouldn't have to ask these questions if you hadn't deserted us!!!
Maybe just temporarely out of sight.......................

I don't think we have to make it a black tie affair, but I'm with you that the venue should be a bit above barn level, yet affordable.
