  2. Hi Ben,

Did you find any nice spots on your trip along the river ?

I would appreciate to get some inspiration for nice places to go in that part of Thailand.

    Lars

Well we went to Kong Chiam (Ubon) where the "two coloured rivers" meet and it was beautiful there. Bungalows and restaurants by the river. Then to the national park to the north and further up to Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom and via the new bridge to Laos and Thakhek where there were nice views of the Mekong and N.P. And of course Beer Lao...

Sounds like a good trip! biggrin.png

  3. well its another day in paradise im sitting on the balcony with a cold one [beer that is] and watching the world go by, the motorbike taxis are are clapping there hands at anyone who walks by trying to drum up some work. Last night was a good one started off at the heartbeat bar they have a live band and some very pretty girls who love a chin wag so i had a few mig lights and then off for some balloon hunting. found a bar covered in balloons it was a girl called kois birthday plenty of dancing loads of thai food yadda yadda i then started to crave a bit of coyote dancing so off i goes to a bar on the 3 road and into a coyote style bar and got a little star struck with one of the dancers trying to tell myself just leave it mick youve got the beer goggles on, when this girl finishes her dance she plonks herself on the stool next to me and we get chatting and drinking turns out her name is lucky before i know it im dancing with lucky in the bamboo bar its tequila slammer time and i feel like a teenager again. end of the night get some food off a barrow pad ka pow moo and back to the hotel arrange to meet lucky later on. Now for the bad news my wife is trying to arrange for her surgically enhanced sister to chapparone me on my trip, now her sister is a bit to touchy feely for me as when shes drunk shes the biggest flirt ive met, im lucky theres a wedding going on in her sisters village that will keep her busy for a few days, now im as red blooded as any man and her sister would temp the devil himself but its a no no her sister has broke more hearts than valentino shes got a five bedroom pad paid for by a dutch guy who works in saudi and more plastic in her body than an airfix model. Right i know what im going to do im going to hua hin and as lucky my little coyote dancer said to me i know alot about bars mr mick im going to take her as my coyote dancer/property adviser that looks so good in hot pants the sooner im out of pattaya the sooner the mrs will calm down a bit.As for lucky im thinking of employing her and her little wiggle as a cashier in the bar as shes a clever girl when we first met she told me my name is lucky, GOOD LUCK GOOD property advice

  4. Keep em going good buddy hopefully a circuit could be set up that prevail in the harvest seasons in the US where organic farmers meet weekly. As per events in Issan it hasn't been too sucessful from what I hear in and around Surin. so far the obvious markets will be Bangkok Pattaya hua Hin and Phuket with many central provinces possible. with middle men cut out there is a viable chance of possibly breaking even and getting something left over AND sell your stock. Transport will be the key to all markets but it looks like this could work if the Chinese and the Indian consumers can be attracted as the are big buyers of Chemical free sustainably raised organic foods. I'll send you the info on the H2O2. Pure magic. Too burnt fried stung out to get much more down for now. this should be changed over to our organic side or posted on both sites to show there are alternatives available, anyone want to purchase 5 tons of hand harvested organic Hom Mali paddy/or clean to spec, Filloeing Furrows For Food on Fords Forever

I guess I'm not much of a farmer, since there are some stuff here I know absolutely nothing about......... biggrin.png

  5. So Bergen. Bad luck comes in threes and the arab that packs his tent and scarpers in the early hours are both non events. Well put it this way, it will lower the risk factor for you, you can reduce the beer order quite significantly. Having said that Grimley will have landed tomorrow and journeyed up our way, he is bound to be thirsty.

To anyone who has been following these events and can get there, do it. The first two were fun days and Bergen is a great host. This one will be great to. Remember it is only the weekend after next so get busy.....book now if you want to relax by the pool.

  6. Just spent a week in the village, (an experience in itself ), The building now has all supports and iron roof up, cocrete strip footings around the walls poured and a stack of building materials on site , so all is progressing, Sister in law was eager to tell me how much everything has cost so that we can see where the money has gone. I feel a lot more confident that our budget will more than cover it, Labour is so cheap .

    Thanks guys for your feedback

    Good news! biggrin.png

  7. The general advice for Issaan seems to be that if you want a relatively reliable service you need to pay for a couple of different options, which is probably going to cost you 1,200 to 1,500 baht a month. Otherwise just try to plan your life around one unreliable service at 400 to 600 baht a month - i.e train your friends and folks back home not to expect quick responses and do everything you need to in the windows when the signal is there. Don't get sucked into doing stuff you don't need to (like posting on TV!). If you have an amphur town nearby plan your shopping and other trips to include a trip to the internet cafe. I use ones where the signal is free and I have a cup of coffee and a cake. Like everything in Isaan you need to go with the flow!

Funnily enough my wife, who couldn't care less about the signal a couple of years ago now has her own laptop and the signal-outs of TOT drive her much wilder than they do me. She is constantly on the backs of TOT - I think my western complaining culture is finally seeping through. I haven't yet got her trained to write letters to the CEO but that will be next!

  8. Washington Square - circulate between the Silver Dollar, Texas Lone Star and Bourbon Street and you'll find a few from the US. Finding some who aren't to the right of Genghis Khan may be harder!

Better hurry up........Silver Dollar is gone (or was it Lone Star?) and Bb St. is coming to it's last month in W Square. New location in Ekkamai opened already..........coffee1.gif

  9. Send me a PM with your telephone number. I am making bacon and burgers and about to start with sausages here in Sisaket. Try asking "Himself' at Wrong Way cafe in Ubon for opinions on our pigs and products, they served a roast piglet of ours for Christmas eve.

I can confirm - good products from IsaanAussie! biggrin.png

  10. Hi Bergen,

Yes, wire is reconnected and I'm back online. If you have an ensuite room for the wife and I please mark us down as coming. I'll bring more bacon this time for anyone who wants some. If anyone is looking for pork loin chops let me know by PM.

Looking forward to meeting the new attendees and catching up with everyone.
