A 72 year old man accused of child sex abuse committed suicide, escaping the legal consequences of his actions. The mother of the 11 year old girl victim revealed that she too had been molested by the same man when she was a child. The child sex abuse incident came to light when an 11 year old girl sent a message to her 30 year old mother, stating she had been abused by their 72 year old neighbour since she was nine years old, approximately three years ago. The mother, a worker from Nakhon Ratchasima, immediately reported the case to the local police. The accused, 72 year old Luan, was brought in for questioning at the Ban Dan Police Station in Buriram. He denied all allegations of misconduct towards both the mother and daughter. However, based on evidence and a joint investigation with social workers, the police charged Luan with child sex abuse and performing indecent acts on a child under 13 years old. Consequently, he was detained at the Ban Dan Police Station, reported Sanook. Wichien’s first encounter with the ghost occurred between 1am and 2am on October 13, when he heard his dogs barking, pigs squealing, and chickens clucking wildly. A Cambodian guitarist was arrested today after being accused of stealing musical instruments from Christian churches across Bangkok. The church theft arrest took place at an unnamed rental room in Suk Sawat Road, Phra Samut Chedi district, Samut Prakan. The suspect, Hek Sophol, was sought after an arrest warrant was issued by the Criminal Court of Southern Bangkok on October 16, for a charge of theft at night. Investigations led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Watcharawee Dhammasema from Bang Rak Police Station traced the thefts back to the 41 year old Cambodian guitarist. The suspect reportedly committed the church theft at two locations situated in Bang Rak, Bangkok, on June 16, around 1.30am. After the warrant was approved, Hek fled and took refuge in a rental room in Phra Samut Chedi district, Samut Prakan. Police officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect outside the rental room, yesterday, around 5.30pm. Upon inspection, the man was identified as Hek, who could communicate well in Thai. After comparing the suspect’s identity with footage from the CCTV at the churches, the Cambodian guitarist acknowledged that he was the person captured in the CCTV footage. An aerial photograph of Bang Khen field, taken 73 years ago, has caused a stir after it was shared on social media. The image, taken in 1950, depicts a wide-open landscape, dominated by the towering spire of Wat Phra Si Maha That Woramahawihan in Bangkok. Tiny buildings can be identified as the former district office of Bang Khen, established in 1941, which has now evolved into the present-day Bang Khen District Office. Phahonyothin Road, running adjacent to the temple, was merely a narrow path flanked by rain trees. The photograph is a work of Dr Robert Larimore Pendleton. Wat Phra Si Mahathat is located in the Bang Khen field area, a battleground during the conflict between the self-proclaimed Committee to Save the Nation led by Phra Worawongse Thoe Phra Ong Chao Bovorn Dech and government soldiers of the People’s Party in October 1943, an event later known as the Bovorn Dech Rebellion. Elderly elephant Nam Chok spent decades being used to give rides to tourists at an elephant trekking camp in Pattaya. Now in her sixties, her owner agreed to send her to a sanctuary for her retirement. The partially blind elephant is suspected to have been caught from the wild, and has been in captivity for decades ever since. She has recently been working at a trekking camp in Pattaya, where elephants are used to entertain and give rides to paying tourists. When the rescue team arrived at the camp, Nam Chok still had her riding saddle on and worked until her last day. Thankfully, her owner had agreed to let Nam Chok retire, and wildlife rescue centre Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) stepped in to offer her a sanctuary home at its elephant refuge. BANGKOK (NNT) - The government is accelerating its efforts to streamline public services through electronic systems. Puangpet Chunlaiad, a minister attached to the Office of the Prime Minister, recently convened a meeting with the Administrative Committee of the Senate. The objective was to discuss collaborations for implementing electronic public services at the local level. The committee also reviewed the roles and responsibilities of the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) -- DGA. A Memorandum of Understanding between related agencies was signed, aiming at providing modern, convenient, and quick public services. As a result, the DGA has developed a comprehensive service application called "Thangrath" to reduce public travel and documentation expenses. Furthermore, the committee recommended strategies for continuous progress in digital governance. This is especially important in times of government transition to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. The committee proposed the development of a "Super App" to centralize various services, responding to real public needs. In her remarks, Minister Puangpet thanked the committee for their guidelines to improve the administrative system. She pledged support for these initiatives, emphasizing the ultimate goal of benefitting the public by reducing red tape and costs.
