In Pattaya, a courageous motorbike taxi driver, known as a Win, assisted in apprehending an 18 year old gold thief yesterday. The young offender claimed that the high cost of living in the city drove him to commit the crime. The incident occurred at 3pm at the Yaowarat Gold Shop on South Pattaya Road, situated in the Nong Prue sub-district of Bang Lamung District, Chonburi province. Following the event, 25 year old gold shop employee Chamaiporn Kulbutr provided her account to the police. She reported that the thief, Thanakrit Tamonlapap, entered the store and requested to see a 5-baht weight gold necklace. Chamaiporn handed over two necklaces for him to choose from, and at that moment, foreign customers entered the store. Seizing the opportunity, the young Thai man snatched both gold necklaces and fled the shop. Chamaiporn immediately pursued the thief, calling for assistance. Panuwit Maleewal, a 36 year old Win driver, happened to be nearby and promptly joined the chase to help catch the culprit before contacting local police. According to Panuwit, he usually operated in the South Pattaya area and noticed Chamaiporn running after the suspect, shouting for help. He felt compelled to assist, despite not knowing whether the thief was armed. As for the 18 year old suspect, Thanakrit claimed to the police that he was neither a drug addict nor a gambler. His sole motivation for the crime was to sell the stolen jewellery to improve his quality of life and cope with the high cost of living in Pattaya. As drought continues in Thailand’s central Singburi province the a temple’s fish pond is experiencing a severe reduction in water levels, causing a shortage of oxygen for the fish. Consequently, the Pak Than Sub-district Administration Organisation (SAO) has urgently installed a turbo-charged pump to transfer water from a nearby canal into the pond, simultaneously supporting the aquatic life and allowing locals to draw water for agricultural purposes. Sai Chon Chimphalee, the president of the Pak Than SAO in the Bang Rachan district of Singburi province, collaborated with officials to arrange land-moving vehicles before employing tractor-towed turbo-charged 200 horsepower pumps with 15-inch pipes to transport the water from the canal to Wat Huai Charoen Suk temple’s pond. This intervention provides oxygen and adequate living conditions for the surviving fish, taking approximately two hours to fill the 50-metre long and 20-metre wide pond, reports Khaosod. Not only does this water sustain the pond’s fish, but it also serves the nearby farming community. The turbo-charged pump, purchased by the Pak Than SAO, is planned to be used during both drought and flood seasons, addressing water-logging problems in the area’s six villages and approximately 10,000 acres of farmlands within three to four days. In the future, the Pak Than SAO president has plans to modify and improve old pumps into turbo-charged ones to extend support to locals experiencing water-related issues, effectively responding to their requests and meeting their immediate needs. A family in Thailand‘s western Ratchaburi province faces a severe infestation of beetles, making their daily lives difficult as they struggle to eat, sleep, and conduct their regular routines. The 70 year old wooden house is the only one in the area affected by the insects, which have invaded various parts of the home, resulting in a desperate cry for help from the family. The affected house is situated at 10/1 Moo 4 in Nakhon Chum sub-district, Ban Pong district, Ratchaburi province. The wooden structure, more than 70 years old, has experienced a significant beetle infestation. These beetles have taken up residence in various parts of the building, from the roof and walls to the floors and support columns. Interestingly, this house is the only one in the area affected by the insects, while neighbouring homes remain undisturbed. The homeowner, Pranom Talingshan, showed a can filled with beetles to reporters, indicating that this was just a small fraction of their problem. “These are just some of the insects we’ve collected in less than half a day,” she said. The family began noticing the black beetles, known locally as “Mang Bueang,” about a week ago when heavy rain began. While they tried sweeping them away at first, the beetle population appeared to be increasing steadily. A shocking tragedy unfolded as a Thai woman discovered her sister’s lifeless body hanging under the stairs at their home in Nakhon Nayok province. The search for her sister’s partner led her to find a second body, brutally beaten in the bathroom. Yesterday, authorities were called to a gruesome scene in a house near Mongkol Tham Park, in the Phrommani sub-district of Nakhon Nayok. They found the body of 61 year old Somjai hanging below the second-floor stairs, and the body of 50 year old Juthapassorn, who was in a relationship with Somjai, dead in the house’s bathroom. The house was in disarray with items scattered and large pools of blood across the area. It is believed that Somjai killed her partner, Juthapassorn using a hammer found at the crime scene before taking her own life by hanging. Somkid, the 63 year old elder sister of Somjai, recounted the events leading up to the discovery. Somkid and her partner returned home from outside, noticing what appeared to be a body hanging under the front stairs inside the house. They approached, only to find it was Somjai, Somkid’s sister. Initially, Somkid tried to lift the body down, but her partner stopped her, suggesting they call the police first. As they awaited the arrival of authorities, they began searching for Juthapassorn, wondering why she would leave Somjai in such a state. A recent misunderstanding between a beach chair vendor and a tourist in Cha-am Beach, Phetchaburi, resulted in the vendor being suspended from work for 15 days. The tourist had rented a chair for 400 baht and asked about the duration allowed. The vendor responded with the phrase “Sit for as long as you like, even for days,” which led to confusion. Today, Nukoon Pronsomboon Siri, Mayor of Cha-am Municipality, stated that the misunderstanding between the employee and the tourist led to a dispute involving poor usage of language. The municipality resolved the issue by suspending the employee for 15 days and warning the beach chair business owner to better manage their staff. The mayor clarified that tourists can park their vehicles on Cha-am Beach, regardless of whether they rent a chair or not, as long as they do not obstruct traffic and follow regulations. Sawaeng, 66, the beach chair business owner, apologised to the tourist and clarified that the phrase was a slogan commonly used by their employees to engage with tourists. Jirapah, 48, the employee involved, also admitted that she had genuinely told the tourist to sit for as long as they wanted, without intending to argue or offend them. Both hoped that the public would understand the misunderstanding, reported Khaosod Online.
