No sarcasm. I'm a Labour voter and would much prefer Mayor Khan to any Tory, especially after Boris. He's a popular figure in London with the majority. Personally, I hanker after the days of Red Ken and the GLC.

Its the celebration of the U.K, rather than a celebration of one man .
George is just the figure head
Good grief I doubt the Scots or Welsh would be celebrating an English saint (even if he was never English!).

No need to politically label people. Even right-wing, nationalistic people have a right to freedom of speech but not to mayhem and property destruction.
Correct, but these guys were demonstrably thuggish. I would think those with nationalistic views are happy to be labelled 'right-wing', and wouldn't find the label offensive. I may be wrong.

"Laurence Fox took to the stage to make abusive remarks about Sadiq Khan. He called the London mayor a “dictator” before leading the crowd in chants of “get Khan out”.
Well I would hardly call it abusive, to calling Sadiq Khan a dictator, he clearly is?
He's about to be re-elected, hopefully.

Except these were a bunch of right-wing, nationalistic thugs.

Some countries have laws that make it illegal to refuse to accept payment with banknotes and coins that are legal tender in the respective countries. Has Thailand no such law?
No.

A huge success, perhaps for the first time since Covid. Bigger and better next year I would think!

Good that the truth has now come out.

Why would he expect any of his money back? It's hardly surprising the relationship didn't work out but he got what he wanted (the old pervert). I suspect if he continues to hang around the village causing problems he will get what's coming to him - and it won't be his money back!

Good grief. Surely more important things to worry about! The UK's gone crazy.

It's certainly the way things are going here. Fantastic if you can pay that way, but frustrating if you're still a 'cash only' person.

The only reasonable way to deal with people involved in human trafficking, sex trafficking, or child prostitution is the death penalty. Carried out one way or another.
Strange definition of "reasonable"!

I understand those who want to prevent Trump from winning and will think strategically towards this end. But those who actually try to perpetuate the myth that Biden is doing a better job than Trump need to wake up, because a large part of his base doesn't think this anymore.
Indeed it is profoundly depressing that Biden hasn't been replaced by Gavin Newsom or Michelle Obama. There is, however, still time.

Some things need to be fought against, the demands of Islam is one as it's the enemy of western values and they just cannot integrate anywhere. Wanting to fulfill the commands of their prophet for world domination they are set against democracy and freedom of speech. All but 2 Islamic states have gays as illegal and 6 have the death penalty, women are oppressed and children abused by FGM and child marriages. Yet western liberals support this medieval backwardness form the dark ages.
And what does this possibly have to do with the topic of this thread? Keep your Islamophobia to yourself; you've already made a fool of yourself on the Sydney stabbings thread!

Some posters have (thankfully) gone very quiet. It really is quite disgusting how some try to make political/racist/Islamophobic points from tragedies.

What was so strange about my post?
Of course Thai immigration set the rules. That doesn't mean some of the rules aren't nonsensical and very unfair.
How would you feel if you had farang kids who had been born here or lived here since they were babies, hence only ever knowing Thailand as their home and then at 18 they were unable to remain living with you in Thailand? Or are you one of those weird people who doesn't think they should support their kids for as long as possible?
As far as farang husbands being dependents of their farang wives, I was unaware this was possible given children over 18 can't be dependents. Seems utterly illogical to me that your children don't have the same family rights as a spouse. It's immediate family, if one of them has a visa then the others should all be allowed to be here as part of the family.
My (British) son was born here and has only lived in Thailand. As my wife is also not Thai, he stays here as my dependant. Once he's 18, although maybe before, he will get his own Extension based on studying here.

Give them a few weeks back home and they'll be back!

Don't need to speak good Thai to pass current 'test' for either, though.
The current A1 English test for a UK Settlement visa is also very basic.

Where is this "proof" you mention? Prostitution is and always has been part of Thai culture. Many Thai males lose their virginity to prostitutes.
