  1. I must be out of touch. I thought Bukaow was mainly a cheap boozing street for foreigners, while Walking Street was the 'red light' area.
  2. Then how do you account for the many successful such marriages? You may have lived in Thailand for just 6 years, but I don't think that makes you an expert on marriage.
  3. "in the city's Soi Buakhao red light street". Is this how the soi is generally seen these days?
  4. The problem for us isn't the work permit. Our employer (based in Bangkok) employs a number of home-based staff, working online. When attending Immigration to process their annual Extension, our HR staff were told that it could not be extended without a Bangkok address. Last year this was not an issue, and, although the home-based staff still had to come to Bangkok for the extension, the Extensions were issued for staff with home addresses in Chiang Mai and other provinces. Apparently, that was allowed due to Covid, but now Covid is over all staff must be based in Bangkok.
  5. To quote Hannibal Lecter, "you covet what you see". If you're a barfly and spend a lot of time barfining women in gogos and bars, eventually you're likely to get tired of it and maybe find a girl that you have a connection with. Whether you marry them or not depends on many factors. But if you're not of the "monger" persuasion, it's highly unlikely you'll meet a decent bargirl let alone marry one!
  6. In order to get an Extension of Stay based on Work from an employer, it's necessary for the foreigner to reside in the the same immigration area as the employer. What's the usual practice for online/home-based workers, for example, employed by a Bangkok-based employer to work from home, who happen to reside in a different immigration province?
  7. Perhaps you should come here and you might find out!
  8. If you meet someone and fall in love, why does the job she was doing at the time matter?
  9. The coffee might be average, but as a brand I'm happy to see more Starbucks opening up. Well managed, quiet, comfortable and their 'no hassle' policy after you've made a single purchase is a boon for students and teachers doing private lessons!
  10. I live in a 2-storey house and have a wifi router on each floor. Does having the router in the same room as the device (e.g. internet TV, laptop) make a difference to the connection? Should the router be placed right next to the device for the optimum result?
  11. 1. No 2. No.
  12. What do you mean by "extensions being issued to those from other provinces"?
  13. What a great post. Thanks for writing it and good to read some sense about this topic.
  14. Agreed. It's provocative nonsense, designed to shock or, worse, titillate.
  15. If one is to believe AMM on X/Twitter, the 'deal' is off.
  16. An iconic and very misunderstood performer. Very sad.
  17. Isn't sinsod rather out of date these days, and if it is part of an engagement or marriage ceremony, it's just for show?
  18. Yes, I'm really pleased for him.
  19. Can both foreign parents be added to a child's Ed visa for attending school?
  20. Apologies for the directness, but it does get me a little riled up when people post things as if they're a truth. I met my GF when she was 19 and I was 49, married her and had a child when she was 25 and I was 55, and 8 years later things are going well. I might be 62 but I'm enjoying being a dad and a husband to a younger woman.
  21. What a load of nonsense! Plenty of men don't settle down and get married until they're in their 50s and if they want children, they need to find a younger wife. I truly wonder if some BMs live in or have ever been to Thailand!
  22. Thanks. My thoughts too. Thai education seems to love these "competitive" tests.
