  1. Correct. Many aspects of prostitution (underage, soliciting, running a brothel) are illegal here, but not that actual act of paying for sexual services.
  2. Correct. Very similar to the UK legislation for prostitution.
  3. You might want to do a little research. Paying someone for sexual service is not illegal in Thailand, under most circumstances. If it was, most of the male Thai population and virtually every foreigner in Pattaya would be in jail!
  4. I never saw it; I live in Thailand and I don't think she performed here, although she was living here when she died.
  5. Darcie Silver was one of the most exciting new acts on the UK comedy circuit and was always a popular performer.
  6. This thread is about Gambia, not Thailand. There are already a number of exploitative threads about the situation in Thailand and the Al Jazeera video in particular.
  7. Nope, no one operating or participating in any form of child prostitution should be ignored. Not sure why you're only bothered if it's a (allegedly) a Brit involved. Perhaps if you showed a more general concern about the issue, people might take you more seriously.
  8. Wow, prostitution in Pattaya - who'd have thought! The evidence of child prostitution in Pattaya is minimal; perhaps Al Jazeera should have focused on the thousands of karaoke bars which have been raided for forced prostitution and underage girls in provincial Thailand, aimed at locals?
  9. Yesterday's man. Time for Thailand to Move Forward.
  10. Well put. I think some people live in a fantasy world when it comes to meeting women!
  11. Herpetophobia. My wife hates it, but geckos in my home die.
  12. Backstreets by Bruce Springsteen.
  13. He was a good PM, but I think his time has passed. Time to move forward.
  14. What part of @spidermike007's post makes you think he "hates" Thailand? Can't people who live here criticise the culture/people?
  15. Is it really common for tourists to marry bargirls? How do they fit it in if they're only here on holiday? It's difficult enough for expats who live here, to marry in Thailand and even more so to get their girl a visa to marry in their home country.
  16. Nice one. I've been with mine for 10 years, 7 years married. "Which one is the whore" is not really the right question. Which one was "the whore" is more accurate, although using a pejorative term like that is not what I would use.
  17. That's great, thanks (on behalf of the OP). But there's nothing on the website that answers the OP's question. In my experience faxing and calling is pointless, hence raising it (again!) on this Forum. Hopefully someone here might have actual experience of doing it.
  18. Indeed, they're not for everyone. However, they are a big part of life in Thailand for many; hence the numerous threads like this one.
  19. No. Just a phone number that is rarely answered!
  20. 10 years?! Can we really afford to wait that long?
  21. It certainly does.
  22. Strange question really, as it depends on your and her living costs. It used to be common for a husband to give their wife "housekeeping" and money for things like clothes and make-up. If she's not earning any more, how is she expected to survive? 5,000 baht a week seems fair if it's just for her. A lot more, if she's paying for the household's food etc.
