  1. Nope. Better to stay on topic. This thread has meandered into silly baiting. Why not start your own thread about Aussies vs Brits rather than hijack this one?
  2. Did he marry a bargirl? Otherwise, why is your beef with a neighbour relevant?
  3. The OP didn't say there was an argument. The driver was trying it on, and would happily have continued with his new passengers without the 10 baht.
  4. Maybe she's a cop or the Thai informant?
  5. I suspect he was trying it on and worth him doing so as many have admitted they would pay. If you had just shrugged your shoulders, smiled and walked away nothing would have happened.
  6. That's true. I can only speak from my own experience. Happily married for 7 years, and our anniversary happens to be today. ????
  7. I must be out of touch. I thought Bukaow was mainly a cheap boozing street for foreigners, while Walking Street was the 'red light' area.
  8. Then how do you account for the many successful such marriages? You may have lived in Thailand for just 6 years, but I don't think that makes you an expert on marriage.
  9. "in the city's Soi Buakhao red light street". Is this how the soi is generally seen these days?
  10. The problem for us isn't the work permit. Our employer (based in Bangkok) employs a number of home-based staff, working online. When attending Immigration to process their annual Extension, our HR staff were told that it could not be extended without a Bangkok address. Last year this was not an issue, and, although the home-based staff still had to come to Bangkok for the extension, the Extensions were issued for staff with home addresses in Chiang Mai and other provinces. Apparently, that was allowed due to Covid, but now Covid is over all staff must be based in Bangkok.
  11. To quote Hannibal Lecter, "you covet what you see". If you're a barfly and spend a lot of time barfining women in gogos and bars, eventually you're likely to get tired of it and maybe find a girl that you have a connection with. Whether you marry them or not depends on many factors. But if you're not of the "monger" persuasion, it's highly unlikely you'll meet a decent bargirl let alone marry one!
  12. In order to get an Extension of Stay based on Work from an employer, it's necessary for the foreigner to reside in the the same immigration area as the employer. What's the usual practice for online/home-based workers, for example, employed by a Bangkok-based employer to work from home, who happen to reside in a different immigration province?
  13. Perhaps you should come here and you might find out!
  14. If you meet someone and fall in love, why does the job she was doing at the time matter?
  15. The coffee might be average, but as a brand I'm happy to see more Starbucks opening up. Well managed, quiet, comfortable and their 'no hassle' policy after you've made a single purchase is a boon for students and teachers doing private lessons!
  16. I live in a 2-storey house and have a wifi router on each floor. Does having the router in the same room as the device (e.g. internet TV, laptop) make a difference to the connection? Should the router be placed right next to the device for the optimum result?
  17. 1. No 2. No.
  18. What do you mean by "extensions being issued to those from other provinces"?
  19. What a great post. Thanks for writing it and good to read some sense about this topic.
  20. Agreed. It's provocative nonsense, designed to shock or, worse, titillate.
  21. If one is to believe AMM on X/Twitter, the 'deal' is off.
