  1. Are there anyone in Bkk with dirt bikes who enjoy heading out of town for a ride? If so it would be nice to hear from you and have some discussion.
  2. Seems there's lots of divers from Scandinavia. Why is diving so popular with people from inland and cold locations?
  3. This doesn't quite add up, Bengal tigers are not found in this area, it's the Indochinese tiger and they are so rare that even capturing them on photo traps deep in the jungle is an achievement. Googling tells me there's widespread illegal cattle grazing in the area and where there's cattle grazing there is a noticeable absence of all wildlife, including tigers and prey.
  4. It says they found a 10 year old male tiger, without further details. At that age it's getting towards the end of it's life and may be taking dogs as easy prey.
  5. A day or an hour to organise a visa, good luck with that in Bkk. It's common for companies to use agents. Like most outsourcing, it works out cheaper.
  6. Some use agents because they are short of time. Same in other countries.
  7. You're in Canada, why concern yourself so much with events in Thailand?
  8. So if I skip it for a full year I am only charged B2,000?
  9. What is the penalty for not doing 90 reports for 12 months?
  10. My earlier extension of stay was in another province, then I moved address and visa type to Bkk. As I understand it, informing immigration of my address when applying for an extension does not count as 90 day reporting? Is it also correct that it should be done at Muang Thong Thani and not CW? Can a staff member do it? Are the requirements (tests, proof of vax status etc.) for entering Muang Thong Thani due to covid?
  11. On 17th of Sept 21 I was given a 30 day extension for my non B vias. Then on 16 Oct I visited immigration and was granted an extension until 16 Sept 22. Was my 90 reporting counted from 17 Sept or 16 Oct? In other words am I now late reporting? Thanks.
  12. And Thailand is not rated as poor, it's upper middle income, but it suits plenty of ppl to see it as dirt poor.
  13. I think it's Thailand, where you won't be forced to hand over huge amounts monthly.
  14. Those two postcodes can only fit so many people. Young Australians can no longer afford houses, it's a huge issue. It's also true many look for houses much bigger than needed, which are more expensive to buy, clean, furnish and maintain. The great Australian dream of home ownership has become a nightmare, causing ppl to spend more time working and less time relaxing with their kids and family. Houses are not as great a status symbol here. Thais spend more time doing fun things with family and friends. This is a good reason to bring up kids here. Plus they can still do risky things, which is very important.
  15. That's two postcodes among hundreds. The article is four months old, but if you check I bet there has been a noticeable rise during that time.
  16. People in Australia seem to work more than ever, yet still can't afford a house. Everyone is too serious. So many fun things are now illegal or over regulated. Kids need to have fun. The place is much more judgemental and moralistic than Thailand, where 'sanook' is a way of life.
  17. Also how to measure things is important, the American system seems to complicated though.
  18. Average house price in Australia is $1 million, plus most things fun are frowned upon, especially if the involve risk or are enjoyed by males.
  19. Who would want to raise kids in a place where humans are referred to as trash? Or where despite having the world's highest prison population, they still want to lock more people up.
  20. Not quite the same is it. My Canadian friends tell me Americans don't see the poverty and marginalisation. I wouldn't want to bring kids up in a place like that.
  21. I've never been to the US, luckily, as it seems violent and without compassion. Kid's in the West are taught to explore their identities, rather than connect with the world around them. This is a recipe for division and unhappiness.
