How are the visa rules now?
at15 replied to sweetserenity's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Pre covid or now, it has never been possible to run to the border of Lao and come back to Thailand with 60 days stamp. The stamp is only for 30 days. But if you went into the Vientiane Thai Embassy and applied for a 60 day tourist visa then you can have 60. -
Back to back Tourist Visa - Savannahkhet
at15 replied to lamush's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
We do have reports in Savannakhet before covid in 2019, they were saying if you stayed 3 out of the last 6 months in Thailand you cant get one, but who knows whats happening there now. -
Tourist Visa Exemption Update...?
at15 replied to FreddieMercury's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You and others with the no limit thinking are not up to date on the current situation. What your saying was fine say back in 2005, but unfortunately spending large amounts in thailand now as a tourist is scrutinized heavily. An immigration officer told me they basically think like this , a genuine tourist comes to thailand once, maybe 2 or 3 times a year going back and forth between their home country. If your not doing something like that they would investigate further. I don't necessarily agree here as some tourists perpetually travel around but they dont see it like that so we must work with what we got. -
Will the 45 day visa waiver continue after March 31?

I am assuming these people dont actually study? Good luck with that, thai authorities usually come around eventually. -

How soon can I get a visa extension.

There is no set rule on this , depends on the office, time of year, mood of officer, etc. -
first time border run, via plane, vietnam?
at15 replied to dj230's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
WOW, very very likely denied entry in the way your talking about. Now if you spend 1 month in vietnam and get a thai tourist visa your chances are much better but not 100%. I was similar to you and barely got in with a tourist visa after being out for 1 month in two different countries. -

HCMC TV denial: try to get Visa Exempt at CNX?
at15 replied to Hal65's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good news man, and glad you got a good officer. I was denied once with a tourist visa by a female officer as they thought i didnt have enough money to support myself in thailand which was total bs. -
Welcome to modern chiang mai, the glory days passed long ago. Now its an overrun tourist ghetto that mainly extracts money from foreigners. Also keep in mind most hotels do not have kitchens. You want a kitchen you'll need an airbnb but expect to pay 20-30k per month for a shoe box. Also dont forget about 1000-2000 baht for an air purifier in your room so you dont feel ill everyday.

HCMC TV denial: try to get Visa Exempt at CNX?
at15 replied to Hal65's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'll be interested to see how it goes with the tourist visa, its a good thing but not a guarantee for entry. I would bet you still get grilled with questions but if you keep your cool you should be able to enter. Please do come back and update us as to what happens. -
