  1. How risk averse/lucky is he normally? Yes, he can pay on the way out without much, if any, repercussions. That said, if caught beforehand, and given the recent crackdown which is hopefully over with, not necessarily as remote a possibility as it used to be, he'd be up for a 5 year ban.
  2. Well I hope your history teacher was fired for regurgitating that myth. "Only 12 per cent of the convicts transported to Australia were Irish. Yet people often automatically associate the Irish with transportation." https://www.nma.gov.au/exhibitions/not-just-ned/family-history/irish/convicts The first fleet wasn't even purely British let alone Irish, it included a mix including French, American and African. "The convicts of the First Fleet included both men and women. Most were British, but a few were American, French, and even African. Their crimes ranged from theft to assault. Most convicts were sentenced to seven years’ “transportation” (the term for the sending of prisoners to a usually far-off penal colony)." https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/first-fleet-sets-sail-australia The vast majority of early Irish came as "free men" but it's more "romantic" nowadays to claim they where shipped out as convicts by those Brit bastards.

  4. The 52% and 38% testing positive on two flights into Milan where false positives I suppose or is Thailand special?
  5. Thanks, so built into the ticket, I thought he was talking about an extra $60 tax payable on departure.
  6. I've seen "thanks" posts on their FB page from people further off the beaten track, seems like they pack the items well too, still frozen. Prices for a lot of things seem on par with Macro, Lotus's etc. too.
  7. I wasn't either 555 having never overstayed I wasn't 100% sure, just based on the reports I'd read. Does seem a bit pointless but if audited (I'll wait for you to finish laughing before I continue) I suppose there would be a record that the IO had done his job.
  8. Ta, that's not bad if stacking up on a few harder to get items I reckon.
  9. I thought they always stamped it but waived the fine for just one day? Along with the info already given, if you have a Samsung phone there is Bixby (basically the same as Lens), or if you are using Chrome on PC: right click image > search image with google > select "Translate" at the bottom of the image in the panel that opens.
  10. Interesting world we live in when facts and science are increasingly ignored ????
  11. Damn, I was just off to the storage locker to dust off the RPG, was also thinking of getting the Abrams out of the garage in case of limited parking or possibly the Apache to get a birds eye view of the festivities. Talk about "the fun police" ????
  12. Wonder if he ever wore the fake uniform while being driven around in the fake motorcade while flashing his fake ID and saying "Don't you know who I am!" 555
  13. This is a follow on from this I believe: https://www.chiangraitimes.com/news/chinese-man-with-fake-id-arrested/
  14. Would you like a bubble to be wrapped in? It's a mental health issue not a safety issue or are you suggesting there was no barrier he had to climb over?
  15. No worries, enjoy your trip. Remember the rule re funds (highly unlikely to be asked but it does happen now and then) 10,000 Baht in cash (or equivalent in foreign currency). You'll often see this quoted as 20,000 Baht, which is for a family - as far as I'm aware the rules haven't changed but I may well have missed it. Never concerned me as I've always got more than 20K on me anyway (either fully in Baht or a mixture of various other currencies from travelling) and if you check various Thai embassy sites you get conflicting details.
