  1. If its anything like the last 'party' don't expect too much, my experience was along the lines of 'couldn't organise a piss up at a wedding'.

    :o

You must have been the sad bloke in the corner without any mates hhper? If you give your personality a chance I am sure people will warm to it.

  2. Great news that a young Thai woman has a dream and the guts and work ethic to pursue it. I wish her the very best of luck.

My advice would be to contact a couple of the executive head chefs in the top hotels - perhaps the Chedi and the Dhara Devi and ask their advice. Although they will likely be westerners trained abroad they will have extremely good Thai chefs working under them who will have had some training locally.

In my experience top professionals are always willing to give advice and assistance to aspiring people. I am sure she will get some great advice and probably a tour of a professional kitchen.

I will keep my ears open for contacts that may be useful and pass them on by PM if anything comes up.

  3. All Dutch men and women are invited to join us at Tuskers on Thursday to celebrate Koninginnedag.

We have a full line up of party entertainment including -

Drinks promotion - 25% off Heineken and gin all night plus a

    which should be rather exciting.

Food - All the Dutch favourites including bitterballen, patat met and hagelslag

Games - I shall be defending my Spijkerpoepen Chiang Mai title and I believe Hill16 will be putting his undefeated run as Chiang Mai Koekhappen Champion to the test against all comers.

If it's anything like the last Dutch party it should be quite a wild night.

Of course as always party animals of all nationalities are welcome to join in but the wearing of orange is obligatory.

  4. We love the train - something always happens.

Tried First Class once but it is way too cramped we now go for 2nd class sleeper normally fan and find it perfectly comfortable.

First thing to do after departure is head for the 'buffet' car where one should stay camped out until chucking out time. Always order a selection of single dishes never off the Farang rip off 'set menu'. Wash dinner down with lakes of beer and enjoy the scenery and action in the carriage. Often the buffet car turns into a mobile disco with Thai music blaring and flashing disco lights. The drunker you get the more fun it is.

I never cease to be amazed at the number of different uniforms and positions staff have on Thai trains - so many different jobs and most of them seem to entail drinking Sang Som in the buffet disco car .

Bloody marvellous - thank GPD for bringing back so many happy memories

  5. Note that that only applies to Rimping at Nim City but the bread is nice and crusty. Carrefour has very nice bread too as does the bake shop at the Dhara Dhevi Hotel.

The River Rim Ping also has a bakery now with the same products as Nim City. I am a big fan of their bread :o

  6. st%20george%20web%20banner.jpg

St George is often most closely associated with England but as you can see from the thread title he is the patron saint of many other places as well as sufferers of syphilis, farmers, shepherds, the Brazilian football club Corinthians and scouts.

This Thursday, 23rd April, we shall be celebrating St George's Day at Tuskers with a bangers, mash and onion gravy supper. There will also be a promotion on large bottles of Leo and gin and tonics.

Everyone who celebrates St George, indeed anyone who celebrates anything is welcome to join us.

If you would like a bangers and mash dinner please fill in the form at the link above to help us cater for the right numbers.

Hope to see you there. :o

  7. After 51 long weeks of waiting the Chiang Mai Sixes starts at the Gymkhana Club this Sunday.

For me this is the best week of the year with hundreds of fun loving people in town some of whom are actually exceptional cricketers (although none in my team, the very flawed Stuffed Beavers CC :D ).

This is the 22nd year of the Chiang Mai Sixes and it is the world's foremost Sixes tournament with 34 teams from 14 countries. Sixes cricket is short, fast and furious and spectators will see some big hitting batting and first class bowlers. It is also great fun.

Whether or not you like or understand cricket I urge you to pop into the Gymkhana Club sometime next week (entry is free :D ) and see for yourselves.

    :o:D

  8. If it is Friday I can offer you an even better discount for your unveiling.

I always thought your avatar was this fellow

    Apologies for the profanity

  9. Will there be a formal unveiling ceremony at the Tuskers do?

Will you be keeping the superhero avatar or will that be changing too?

There's more to this changing of identity than meets the eye.

  10. May I suggest Reynard the Fox? I think it highly suitable for such a master of subtlety.

You haven't answered my question about the membership card :o

Yes yopu can have a card in the name of Reynard Le Fox terms and conditions apply :D )
