Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
Bkk Brian replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
All over twitter, more drone attacks happening now in Kyiv. Time for the west to step up with longer range missile systems, further sanctions against Iran are not enough. How about introducing ATACMS to take out the launch sites? Its obvious Putin has forged a close relationship with Iran. His visit there in July was only his second international visit since the invasion. At the meeting Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Tehran and Moscow should strengthen their ties, and suggested that the West was to blame for the war in Ukraine. "If you did not take the initiative, the other side would have caused the war with its own initiative," Mr Khamenei told Mr Putin. Ukraine war: US says Iranian drones breach sanctions The US agrees with the French and British assessment that the drones violate UN Security Council Resolution 2231, the US State Department said. That resolution, linked to Iran's nuclear accord, bars Iranian transfers of certain military technologies. Ukraine has identified the drones - or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) - as Iranian Shahed-136 weapons. They are called kamikaze drones after the Japanese fighter pilots who flew suicide missions in World War Two. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63294698 strikes against Ukraine are being framed in context of "retaliation" for its strikes in Belgorod, as though poor "tormented" Russia is simply defending itself. State TV host says Russia will spare no missiles or drones in the run-up to US midterms. -

Another home goal for Russia. Russian tower block in flames after deadly warplane crash A military aircraft has crashed in a residential area of the southern Russian town of Yeysk, killing at least four people and injuring up to 25. An apartment block was set on fire and emergency services called in. A nearby school was evacuated, reports say. Russia's Investigative Committee said it had opened a criminal case and sent investigators to the site of the crash, without giving any reasons. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63292320 -
U.S. to penalize Iran, third parties for missile sales to Russia “We’ve been we’ve been very public warning people about coming sales, including the UAV sales since the summer,” the official said. “Iran has just lied about them, and they’re being caught in their lies.” “Are we going to do more about Iranian military sales to Russia? Absolutely, yes,” the U.S. official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject. “For anybody in the world who is either selling material to Iran that could be used for [unmanned aerial vehicles] or ballistic missiles, or who is involved in flights between Iran and Russia: Do your due diligence, because we are absolutely going to sanction anybody who’s helping Iranians help Russians kill Ukrainians.” https://www.politico.com/news/2022/10/17/iran-russia-missile-sales-00062075

Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital

Ukraine asked for help, looks like Russia has now asked Iran an official state sponsor of terrorism to do the same. After all Iran is well known for sponsoring proxy terrorists, Russia seems to be their current choice. -

Oh the irony...lol Indeed they did, mostly Russian apologists and Russian officials, even the Russian embassy's were sending out the same message. Looks like its come back to bite them. If you'd have clicked on the link provided you would have got the full tweet along with the replies. I honestly didn't think I needed to point that out but obviously that irony was lost on some. I doubt we'll be seeing any more Russian officials using now. -
For many, Thailand’s UN vote on Russia still a puzzle

The implication of my post is as stated in the quote I took from it: "Horrific allegations of sexual violence against Ukrainian communities - including children - were also found to be based in fact." Nothing more, nothing less. The quote you are taking from Pramila Patten which was made just a couple of days ago does not form part of the report, its a quote from her based on interviews with female victims who had testified. The UN report was released nearly a month ago. Here's a few more extracts of the UN report I was referring to: Commission chairperson Erik Møse said that investigators visited 27 towns and settlements and interviewed more than 150 victims and witnesses. They also inspected “sites of destruction, graves, places of detention and torture”, as well as remnants of weapons. Other key findings from the report include the surprisingly “large number of executions” in 16 towns and settlements, where “common elements” of the crimes included “visible signs of executions on bodies, such as hands tied behind backs, gunshot wounds to the head, and slit throats”. -

If you'd like the facts then these are what they are taken from a UN report that was issued on 27th Jan 2022. pdf download source "Conflict-related civilian casualties in Ukraine" and which is the source of wiki data "10,900 victims were soldiers, of which 4,400 were Ukrainians and 6,500 pro-Russian combatants of or on behalf of the separatist pseudo-republics, civilian victims were between 3,400 and 3,500, the latter were in turn not all victims of attacks and of drones and rockets launched by Ukraine against the pseudo-republics, in fact, a part died in the portions of the oblasts of Luhansk and Donetsk that remained under Ukrainian control during attacks by separatists, 1,589+ killed in Kyiv & at least 55 of the war-related child deaths were from the Kyiv area and another 34 were from Kharkiv. The U.N. report also notes that 8.8% of all civilian victims come from a single incident, which happened on July 17, 2014, when Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot by a missile." In addition most deaths occurred within the first 2 years of the war, in 2021 the amount of civilian causalities was 110: 25 killed (16 men, two women, three boys, one girl and three adults whose sex is not yet known) and 85 injured (56 men, 21 women, six boys and two girls), a 26.2 per cent decrease compared with 2020 (149: 26 killed and 123 injured), and the lowest annual civilian casualties for the entire conflict period. -

Couldn't put it better than this............................ President Zelensky has described Iran's supply of attack drones to Russia as "collaboration with evil". Apparently there's more: Iran has secretly agreed to send surface-to-surface missiles intended for use against Ukrainian cities and troop positions. President Zelensky's reaction to this morning's attacks: "All night and all morning, the enemy terrorises the civilian population. Kamikaze drones and missiles are attacking all of Ukraine. The enemy can attack our cities, but it won't be able to break us." 'Kamikaze drones' pictured flying over Kyiv moments before city struck - as Iran 'planning to supply Putin with ballistic missiles' “Iran must stop waging its proxy war in Ukraine. Iran seems willing to wage its war to the last Russian soldier.” “Iran providing Russia with weapons will only prolong the war” -

I guess the Russian industrial military complex wasn't as strong as they said it was. However they're doing a great job at supplying Ukraine for free, Moscow is by far the largest supplier of heavy weapons for Ukraine, well ahead of the U.S. or other allies in sheer numbers https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/ukraine-s-new-offensive-is-fueled-by-captured-russian-weapons/ar-AA12CIDc -
Alleged by who that "Putin would have been satisfied with a cessation of hostilities based upon Ukrainian agreement not to join NATO"? Surely you're not referring to Pepe Escobar the Brazilian journalist who serves Russian propaganda on RT regularly as well as the infamous Russian state run "strategic-culture.org" He's so prolific a warning was put out by the US gov on him. https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Pillars-of-Russia’s-Disinformation-and-Propaganda-Ecosystem_08-04-20.pdf Article from before the invasion 17th Dec 2021: Putin actually wanted NATO to roll back almost a quarter-century of expansion by withdrawing forces from eastern Europe and halt further growth, an unprecedented challenge to the U.S. and its allies that could derail efforts to end a standoff over Ukraine. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-17/russia-demands-nato-return-to-1997-in-security-treaty-proposals Your reference to Boris Johnson "Boris Johnson went to Ukraine and informed that nation it wasn't going to happen. They were going to fight till the last Ukrainian for Russian regime change." Is equally full of misinformation and lacking context, a couple of weeks before Boris went to Ukraine Putin had already publicly stated that peace talks were dead: Putin says peace talks with Ukraine are at dead end, goads the West https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putin-flies-into-russian-far-east-ukraine-talks-with-belarusian-leader-2022-04-12/ Here's some added facts for you: As war began, Putin rejected a Ukraine peace deal recommended by aide But, despite earlier backing the negotiations, Putin made it clear when presented with Kozak's deal that the concessions negotiated by his aide did not go far enough and that he had expanded his objectives to include annexing swathes of Ukrainian territory, the sources said. The upshot: the deal was dropped. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/exclusive-war-began-putin-rejected-ukraine-peace-deal-recommended-by-his-aide-2022-09-14/ President Zelensky: 'Ukraine won't join NATO to stop the war with Russia' In order to find peace with Russia, president Zelensky is willing to reject NATO https://www.marca.com/en/lifestyle/world-news/2022/03/23/623a883fca47418c4d8b45f6.html The rest of your post being an off topic rant that again is fueled with your own homophobia

Don't need this.............. Washington Post: Iran plans to send ballistic missiles, drones to Russia The Washington Post reported, citing unnamed U.S. and allied security officials, that Iran is preparing the first shipment of Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles for Russia. Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar are Iranian short-range ballistic missiles capable of striking targets at distances of 300 and 700 kilometers, respectively. https://kyivindependent.com/news-feed/washington-post-iran-plans-to-send-ballistic-missiles-drones-to-russia Iran used this missile to strike Kurdish dissidents in Iraq in 2018 and to carry out the attacks on US military bases in Iraq after Soleimani's death in 2020 If Iran can provide Russia with ballistic missiles, surely the West must be able to provide Ukraine with ATACMS? -
That's exactly what I did, read my post again Did I mention it being a major issue? I was giving one example in response to a similar post, if I had wanted to make it a larger issue I could have given many more. No, do you? Whats that got to do with my post and double menus?

Never been to Pattaya. Last 15 years in Phuket https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-restaurant-caught-charging-foreigner-prices-83818.php

The problem was 2 separate menus as I described and as experienced by many others in Phuket. Plenty of links around to prove that

Maybe Trump was listening to his advisor Roger Stone who said '<deleted> the voting, let's get right to the violence': CNN obtains documentary clips of Trump ally A Danish documentary film crew has shared multiple pieces of footage with CNN and the House select committee investigating the January 6 attacks at the US Capitol that show Roger Stone leading up to Election Day. -
I've experienced this personally, first time many years ago in a Thai/Korean barbeque restaurant here in Phuket that had dual menu's, one for local Thai's and one for foreigners. Went in there with my wife and young daughter, were given the local menu first but the waitress quickly came back and changed it for the alternative and more expensive foreigner menu. My Thai wife complained but to no avail, in the end we just decided to walk out as it was just so blatant.
