  1. Here's similar up to date statistics from the US on hospitalizations of vaccinated + booster and unvaccinated. Reduction of hospitalizations for vaccination and a booster vs unvaccinated, US data sources, vs Delta and Omicron Age 65+ 98% Age 50-64 97% All ages,18+ 96% https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/covid-net/purpose-methods.html https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7105e1.htm?s_cid=mm7105e1_w
  2. PCR test positive cases, total of 8,587 official new infections. 22 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests positive cases, 2,649 bringing the total of PCR and ATK results to 11,236 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ Rolling 7 day average chart from 31st Jan https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  3. Interesting graphic here on the effectiveness of boosters to reduce hospitalizations in the UK, tweeted by a Senior epidemiologist at UKHSA. "Great thread combining international data (including our VE estimates) to illustrate the importance of boosters to prevent severe disease. This graph is the stand-out for me. Without boosters, the number of patients hospitalised this winter would have exceeded last year's peak." https://twitter.com/freja_kirsebom/status/1488099972935528450
  4. Yep, from the article: "For over a year, the Thai vocational students have been spotted participating in multiple street rallies in tandem with the rise of Thailand’s pro-democracy movement."
  5. Yes it does however I see reading it you fail to understand so here you are in easy steps from a clearer statement from experts. You could also have had a look at the deaths rates dramatically falling after boosters were deployed in Israel in the fourth wave due to the waning. There have been warnings from doctors and the UK's Health Security Agency that waning immunity is leading to deaths even of people who have had two doses of a Covid vaccine. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-59260294 Real-world data from diagnostic-testing records and hospital databases suggest that this might be the case. In Israel, for example, elderly people who got their shots at the beginning of the year seemed to have almost double the risk of severe illness during a July outbreak compared with similar individuals who were immunized more recently7. As researchers reported this week, older individuals given a third dose of vaccine were less likely to become infected and much less likely to develop severe disease than those who had not received the boosters. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02532-4
  6. The quote refers to the fourth wave which included deaths and severe cases but then you knew that already as you read the headline. Like I said, dozens of studies that a booster is needed because of vaccine waning and they help reduce deaths and severe cases on this so I'll leave this one here as its just groundhog day with you. Booster Shots Drastically Reduce Delta Variant Hospitalizations And Deaths In Israel "These results show convincingly that the third dose of the vaccine is highly effective against severe COVID-19-related outcomes in different age groups and population subgroups, one week after the third dose,” said senior author Professor Ran Balicer of the Clalit Research Institute in a statement. The big question the study cannot answer is whether protection from the booster is more enduring than from the original two doses, which is known to wane after six months. https://www.iflscience.com/health-and-medicine/booster-shots-drastically-reduce-delta-hospitalizations-and-deaths-in-israel/
  7. You are kidding right, there have been dozens of studies on vaccine waning and the need for a booster even before Omicron Israel booster jabs cutting severe Covid even as cases surge: experts But weeks after the third jab rollout began, the severe case count -- which shot up from more than 70 in late July to 600 by mid-August -- has stabilised, currently standing below 700. Infections also remain very low among the triple jabbed. Those factors, Barbash said, make it clear that "waning immunity is what caused the fourth wave." https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20210915-israel-booster-jabs-cutting-severe-covid-even-as-cases-surge-experts
  8. Plenty of evidence for that actually, you just need to look at how Israel reduced its death rates and hospitalizations in July last year with the introduction of booster shots
  9. The other factor that cannot be overlooked on this flexible 98-99 percent figure is vaccine waning, I know the T and B cells still kick in to reduce risk however waning is a problem. Then we also need to know what is classed as fully vaccinated as most countries are now saying this is three jabs.
  10. I don't know about the deaths although they are shooting up but in Israel 100% of emergency cases in hospital are unvaccinated. 14% of Israeli Adults Are Unvaxxed. They Account for 100% of ECMO Patients
  11. I was pointing out the factcheck to another poster in agreement with his statement, simple enough for you?
  12. I was confirming with the other poster that he was correct, as in the fact check I linked to. “Consider the hypothetical world where absolutely everyone had received a less than perfect vaccine. Although the death rate would be low, everyone who died would have been fully vaccinated,”
  13. Your absolutely right on this: "Epidemiologists and biostatistics experts have been cautioning that as more and more of a population gets vaccinated, we’ll likely see more deaths from COVID-19 among the vaccinated. It’s simply math. The vaccines aren’t 100% effective — no vaccine is — so some deaths are expected. And if there are relatively few people still unvaccinated, the raw numbers of deaths are likely to show more deaths among the vaccinated. “Consider the hypothetical world where absolutely everyone had received a less than perfect vaccine. Although the death rate would be low, everyone who died would have been fully vaccinated,” David Spiegelhalter, chair of the Winton Centre for Risk and Evidence Communication at the University of Cambridge, and Anthony Masters, statistical ambassador for the Royal Statistical Society, wrote in late June for a story published in the London-based Guardian." https://www.factcheck.org/2021/11/scicheck-why-its-easy-to-misinterpret-numbers-of-deaths-among-the-vaccinated/
  14. The virus carries the high mortality rate of MERS-CoV (where one in three infected people die on average) and the high transmission rate of the current COVID-19 virus. It also can't be neutralised by antibodies that target the Covid virus. However Anutin will be out soon to confirm that Thailand's doctors can handle it no problem.
  15. "The data show large pockets of unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people in the US have placed more pressure on hospitals during the Omicron wave than in European nations with higher immunisation rates. The analysis supports the findings of scientists and accounts of frontline medics who say lower vaccination levels are perpetuating the pandemic in the US." Top-line: if US had matched vaccination coverage of leading European countries, it would have *halved* its Covid hospitalisations https://twitter.com/jburnmurdoch/status/1488084513829924867 https://www.ft.com/content/03aa46e2-ac3a-4c16-82be-431ea4c43e58
  16. We don't get to hear about it because your claim is simply untrue.
  17. PCR test positive cases, total of 7,422 official new infections. 12 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests positive cases, 2,014 bringing the total of PCR and ATK results to 9,436 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ Rolling 7 day average chart from 30th Jan https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  18. They do every season, however as we all know enforcing rules here is not Thailand's forte. Also published in a new OP today: Korat governor bans the burning of stubble in fields to stem dust pollution - but it's being ignored The governor of Nakhon Ratchasima province has issued an anti-burning order that should be music to the ears of spluttering residents in the north eastern Thai province.
  19. Road deaths are reported and announced each day in Thailand. Air quality from pollution is also measured and reported daily. Believe it or not Covid is still a worldwide pandemic that has an effective solution to serious illness and death via vaccines and all countries report daily figures to monitor the situation. New OP published today that you may want to go and comment on: Latest accident stats: 21 dead Saturday as drunk driver kills road worker Daily News continued their campaign to raise awareness about the appalling carnage on Thailand's deadly roads. They reported that 21 people died in accidents on Saturday cautioning that the figure was low because agencies do not report death much at the weekend preferring to wait until Monday or Tuesday.
  20. Great place for 90 day report for me is Bluetree in Cherng Talay, never busy and good parking.
  21. I agree with countries such as Denmark and the UK who are deciding that this can be handled without all of the familiar restrictions, I just hope it pays off. In comparison to flu, here's a good chart and tweet: "Even if thanks to vaccination, the infection fatality rate of SARS-CoV2 now gets close to that of influenza, the big question remains of how many more will get infected by SARS-CoV2 compared to influenza in a single year, and whether we will have 1 or 2 Covid waves per year..." https://twitter.com/TWenseleers/status/1487559782118604802
  22. I read a few weeks ago that because of the expense of PCR testing they were relying on the ATK's which so happens to suit them very well in terms of numbers as they don't officially recognize them in official totals plus we just don't know how many really test positive with those or even if the unofficial positives count they share on the dashboard are real. All hand in hand with the effort to lure back tourists who believe the numbers from official sites and end up testing positive after a few days in Thailand and forcibly quarantined. We all know this variant is less virulent and with the added benefit of vaccine and previous infection immunity it is far less of a worry. However living with it means that those who are most vulnerable still need to be aware and keep safe from it, how can they do that if the real numbers are not shared?
  23. You may have something with tropical high humidity countries. Agree official covid deaths are harder to fudge but not impossible, excess deaths however are much harder to manipulate: https://ourworldindata.org/excess-mortality-covid
  24. PCR test positive cases, total of 8,008 official new infections. 16 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests positive cases, 2,065 bringing the total of PCR and ATK results to 10,073 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ Rolling 7 day average chart from 28th Jan https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/
