  1. A lot of people have been dying at home because of full hospitals so thats an option for you. No resources used by the nanny state. Don't recommend it though!
  2. Some people have families to look after and prefer to keep safe so their children will continue having their parent
  3. Yes you are lucky as that is not the case with many of us. It has touched me and friends extensively, fortunately some were vaccinated, others before vaccinations came along who did pay the ultimate price.
  4. Advising someone to take a covid vaccine is not fear mongering buddy,
  5. Your statement, "They rushed with vaccinations in Israel" Just because of two recent studies, one being from Israel that said natural infection provides a greater degree of immunity from delta, does not mean they were saying that everyone should get infected with delta to protect themselves from catching delta! Vaccinations are always preferable and implemented as soon as possible. Its utter nonsense that they rushed vaccinations in Israel and really says it all about your outlook. Recent studies also say 36% of COVID+ patients turned out negative for antibodies after the end of symptoms. We still have little data about post-infection immunity.
  6. Again, I've seen no predictions, more to do with your own perceptions, just because the pandemic is seemingly declining does not make past interpretations a doom and gloom predictor. Perhaps we like to bunker down if we see a hurricane coming and prepare for the worst, if it misses us then we are all happy.
  7. Never saw those doom and gloom predictions, did see some predictions made by CCSA Daily infections could reach 70,000 unless strict lockdown measures are employed in late August, Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman of the governments Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, warned on Friday.
  8. With todays high case count in Phuket its shot to the 5th most infected Province per capita https://aseannow.com/topic/1221220-information-about-new-covid-19-cases-per-province/?do=findComment&comment=16786814
  9. Its important to put that in context of what was actually stated which was: @ 6:47 "there were good reasons to only count the mrna Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the initial stages of their vaccination program because of the efficacy, when most of population was not vaccinated it was important to get them inoculated with the most effective vaccines available, but as our vaccination coverage increased to 70%, we are collectively more resilient so our considerations have changed and what is more important now is the difference between those who are vaccinated and not vaccinated, so less so between different vaccine brands. So from 10th Aug we will be more inclusive.
  10. Ivermectin: Horse deworming tablets dangerous for humans and not approved COVID-19 treatment After a recent resurgence in several states, health officials are warning residents to be aware of a dangerous of an unauthorized “treatment” for COVID-19 — often being taken with dangerous consequences. It’s called ivermectin and it’s used to treat and prevent parasites in animals, the Food and Drug Administration explains. The tablets are not FDA approved for treatment of COVID-19 in humans and isn’t even an anti-viral drug — meaning it has no impact on the coronavirus. And because the large-concentration tablets are intended for large animals, these can be treacherous for humans. On Friday, the Mississippi Department of Health was forced to send out a warning to residents about the dangers of the drug after several poisonings. https://kfor.com/news/ivermectin-horse-deworming-tablets-dangerous-for-humans-and-not-approved-covid-19-treatment/
  11. Thanks for the update as you know it certainly used to be the case. Singapore omits Sinovac shots from COVID-19 vaccination tally
  12. Shameless, facilitated by a chaotic government priority roll out that continues today
  13. In spite of numerous suggestions to buy something else while waiting for locally produced AstraZeneca, the Thai government insisted on buying only Sinovac at the beginning of the year and it had led to the lack of options, said Pheu Thai's Prasert Jantararuangtong. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1432566882318491651
  14. Phuket's numbers may go down sooner than we think, the governor said they had finished their budget for ATK tests and had asked central government for more money, lets see. I note ATK was only 10 positive cases yesterday, a clear sign not much testing had been done with them.
  15. Thailand making vaccine deals with partner countries to combat Covid-19, says Foreign Ministry The Foreign Ministry has been using diplomatic channels to procure Covid-19 vaccines and other aid from partner countries, ministry spokesperson Thani Saengrat said on Monday. “The ministry has been strengthening ties with the US, China, Japan, India, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Russia, who in turn have been providing Covid-19 vaccines and other necessities to help us combat the pandemic,” he said. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40005508
  16. PCR tests, total of 14,666 official new infections, with 304 of those from prison and 14,362 from community (lowest since 27th July). 190 official covid deaths, good to see those declining. Positive signs with this continued decline for those on ventilators 1,042 and 5,003 in ICU. Rapid tests positive cases, 866 bringing the unofficial total to 15,228 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ 47,850 official pcr tests carried out yesterday. The lowest for weeks. Rolling 7 day average (up to 29th Aug) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases from daily official announcements. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  17. No idea, but the highest number in ICU on ventilators was on the 15th Aug when there was 1,172
  18. Over 31,000 children in Thailand infected with COVID-19 in past 4 months, 9 dead More than 31,000 children in the country, aged from under one to five years, have been infected with COVID-19 in the past four months. Most were infected by close relatives or other caretakers and, of these, nine have died, said Dr. Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai, director-general of Thailand’s Department of Health, today (Monday). Citing data released on August 21st, he said that, within a week, 5,298 additional infections among young children, including 4,773 Thais and 525 foreigners, were recorded, representing an increase of 33% over the previous week. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/over-31000-children-in-thailand-infected-with-covid-19-in-past-4-months-9-dead/
  19. Gloating about a friend who has been to Phuket and breaks the rules by drinking beer in restaurants daily and visiting girlie bars that should be closed is not something to be proud about.
  20. Where did I say that? Try reading the thread of this discussion. Phuket by the way has more cases per capita than Bangkok and many other provinces.
  21. Suggest you read my posts again, faulty on many levels is only your opinion but thats no surprise from you. Having Phuket open to international tourists yet having schools and businesses closed is not my idea as a model for the opening of Thailand. The tourists are also complaining of being misled into thinking that Phuket was really open when in reality it was not.
  22. Chula mRNA vaccine in line for April rollout after Delta success Chulalongkorn University researchers have launched the second human trial of Chula-Cov19 mRNA vaccine, after the Phase 1 trial greatly boosted volunteers’ antibodies against the Covid virus. The vaccine proved effective against all four variants of the virus in Phase 1 and is expected to be registered by the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April next year, said Chula. The vaccine “can induce a very strong antibody response, [which is] as good as Pfizer”, said Dr Kiat Ruxrungtham, director of the Chula-Cov19 mRNA development programme and founder of the Chula Vaccine Research Centre behind ChulaCov-19. https://www.nationthailand.com/life/40005469
  23. "Roadmap for Thailand’s reopening and recovery" The Public Health Ministry has come up with a roadmap to help boost Thailand’s economy and reopen the country safely. The aim is to have 70 per cent of the population fully vaccinated by December this year. https://twitter.com/Thenationth/status/1432250182255595520
  24. There you have proof of the complete mismanagement of the vaccine plan, 13m to general population and only 7.4m to those who needed it most.
  25. Lets hope Thailand keeps this new potential worst variant out. Unfortunately Thailand does not do enough sequencing so if it does come in it will be too late before they discover it. NEW VARIANT—a new #SARSCoV2 variant C.1.2 just identified in South Africa & several countries, with concerns it could be more infectious and evade vaccines. #C12 also has mutation rate that is nearly **twice as fast** as the rate of the other variants. https://twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/1432200392776028162 New COVID variant detected in South Africa, most mutated variant so far More than half (about 52%) of the mutations in the spike region of the C.1.2 sequences have previously been seen in other VOCs and VOIs. The mutations N440K and Y449H, which have been associated with escape from certain antibodies, have also been noticed in C.1.2 sequences. The scientists stressed that the combination of these mutations, as well as changes in other parts of the virus, likely help the virus evade antibodies and immune responses, including in patients who have already been infected with the Alpha or Beta variants. The study found consistent increases in the number of C.1.2 genomes in South Africa on a monthly basis, rising from 0.2% of genomes sequenced in May to 1.6% in June and then to 2% in July, similar to the increases seen with the Beta and Delta variants there. https://www.jpost.com/health-science/new-covid-variant-detected-in-south-africa-most-mutated-variant-so-far-678011
