It's generally rather trivial (with a few exceptions) to change the internal hard drive and just swap things around. Almost certain to be faster, especially with an SSD. The only time I ever met any challenge was with an all-in-one.

It could be welded. It's probably stainless steel. Might be hard to find someone who's truly qualified. In all likelihood there are many spots on the verge of breaking through, but sometimes not. You have to patch it on the inside assuming that's accessible. I'd first try something like Flex Tape. I see it on Lazada and Shopee (4 inch). Clean the area with something like hand sanitizer and some sandpaper if it's rough. The best option is replacement, but always more costly.

I have noticed that some of the newer antiperspirants are sticky and more difficult to wash of than they used to be. Perhaps they are effective for longer.

Abnormal heat in Thailand - how do you cope?
tuktuktuk replied to Dario's topic in Health and Medicine
We keep two rooms (occasionally three) at 22 C all day. Late afternoon the inside temperature will climb to 27 and maybe a little higher. At night one room 22 all night another 25 but for just a few hours. Electric rates here are almost exactly what we pay back home in Tennessee. About 0.16USD/kwh. The maximum bill here (~12k THB/month) is about 50% more than home, but it's not a fair comparison. Tennessee has plenty of 37 C days in July and August but cooler nights and good insulation. I always say I'm never going to stay for April and May again, but here I am. -
Are you still out there socially at your age ?
tuktuktuk replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
None for me. Stopped all of that when I left grad school, got married, started a career and a family. Never really developed any friendships outside of work and never mixed that with family time. If I wanted to do that here the nearest bar is 30 minutes away. About the same for our home in Tennessee. I’m 65 now. Best I can tell most expats aren’t interested in socializing. Most avoid even eye contact. -
Washington set to become 10th state to ban assault weapons sales

I didn’t miss it, I just didn’t choose to address it. Truth be told I have no idea what intentions people have for the weapons they own. -
Washington set to become 10th state to ban assault weapons sales

My first response was deleted for not quoting your entire comment. I don’t really understand why that’s okay sometimes and not okay other times. There are huge wilderness areas in Washington State where you can hunt big game with a license. -

I have to admit, I saw that very sign in front of the gate to a huge mansion just outside Princeton, New Jersey. On the other side of the gate was a BLM flag. No doubt their security was fully armed. -

That’s nonsense. It’s the primary rifle for pig and coyote eradication. It’s fine for deer under 100 yds. Right around 1000 ft-lbs. Where I live in west Tennessee many deer are taken with an AR-15. It’s far easier to shoot and far easier to become proficient without a scope. In the woods it’s almost impossible to have a clear shot at an identifiable animal at more than 50 yards. -
Doesn’t work for me. I can spray forever and still have evidence in my underwear at the end of the day. I suspect my history of hemorrhoids contributes to that problem. After 25 years in the USA my wife has no use for them either. They’ve been removed from all but one of our four bathrooms in Thailand. Visitors have to use the guest house bathroom if they prefer that. Bathrooms stay clean when nobody can spray dirty water around.

Accelerating melt of ice sheets now 'unmistakable'
tuktuktuk replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Don’t expect any change soon. To meet IPCC targets would require the entire planet to be net zero by 2030 and vastly net negative by 2050. Even then temperatures growth relative to pre industrial conditions would likely exceed +4 C with some chance of cooling it down to +1.5 C by the end of the century. It simply won’t happen. Anybody that tells you it will is feeding you propaganda. Globally we’re still increasing our carbon output every year and almost certainly will continue beyond 2030. This year new oil and gas development expenditures will exceed $100 billion. Projects that will be profitable for the next 20 to 50 years. Believing that we’ll somehow reverse climate change is like believing the naked emperor is actually wearing fine new silk clothes. -

I was responding to your tomorrow assertion. Sure, it could happen in a few years. That’s the only likely way to succeed. Nobody has even tried. I think there are far too many states opposed. -
Thailand’s Som Tam voted 6th best salad in the world
tuktuktuk replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I love a good Greek salad and Japanese seaweed salad is awesome too. I removed Som tam from my approved foods list years ago. Not only is it boring, but tends to cause gastric distress.- 76 replies

It’s not quite that easy. The process to amend the constitution is slow. -
Transferring subtitle files to program files.
tuktuktuk replied to giddyup's topic in IT and Computers
I do it with Handbrake and convert them to Apple format at the same time for network sharing to several Apple TV’s. Handbrake is really slow. I’d like a better free solution, but haven’t found one. -
I was just about to say whatever you do don’t go to a chiropractor. You need to be examined and probably X-rayed first. I wouldn’t want it manipulated without knowing why there’s a sudden change.

Hard to beat a good pork steak. Definitely a viable substitute beef that’s just not affordable. Just cruised through a Tops. A nice looking Australian ribeye was 2900 baht/kg. Needless to say I passed that up to see if they have any California Red Wine. A Berlinger Cabernet was 3499 baht. That’s probably $12 back home. Back home the Piggly Wiggly has locally produced Black Angus ribeyes for $7.99/pound.

Looks great to me. I'm gonna ask for Blue when I go home. I've probably cooked it that way myself before. We've given up trying to find a good steak here in Chaiyaphum. The flavor is there, but tough is always part of the description. Better Australian steaks can be bought for a relatively decent price at some of the chain stores, but grass fed doesn't make it. I like my steak well marbled like me.

Thailand’s diesel price to drop to 33 baht per litre on Friday
tuktuktuk replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
That's $3.45/gal in USD. Right now it's about $3.85/gal in West Tennessee. Keep your tank full. It's headed up. -
Those aren't steps. That's an integral part of the seawall meant to dissipate incoming wave energy. If somebody intended for people to access the beach there would be an access point or multiple ones. Preventing algae growth would be an around the clock pressure washing job. Parts of the Galveston seawall used to look like this. It was eventually rebuilt with a curved design that few people will try to traverse. The Lake Pontchartrain seawall still looks like this. If you go to the lake on a Sunday you can watch people slip and fall on it all day long.
