Thailand reports declining COVID-19 cases for the 4th consecutive day
ourmanflint replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Hurrah! Thailand has proven that lockdowns do slow down rate of infection. So what next? The instant rules are relaxed infections will start climbing and there is not a thing anyone can do about it -

SURVEY: Sandbox -- the way to go or just a failing PR stunt?

That's the problem though isn't it? No booster, no travel. At one point does it stop? -
SURVEY: Sandbox -- the way to go or just a failing PR stunt?

Vaccine passport? Countries are now setting expiry dates even for those. Austria and Croatia will not accept passports older than 210 days. If Thailand did same that would mean neither myself nor my Thai wife could visit after January 29th 2022. Like I said earlier this nonsense will never stop -

By the time Thailand is ready to open up even those fully vaccinated will still have to quarantine. Western countries vaccinated early on and everyone will be outside the "vaccinated in past 6 months" window stipulation for getting a stupid certificate. It will never end -
I've said this quite a lot before but lots of fantastically dense people here still refuse to understand it. This virus will not stop until everyone has either had it or is vaccinated, that's how it works. There is no other way, so talk of peaks now is utter garbage, all that is happening is a slow down in infection rates because of lockdown, the second it is lifted, cases will rocket once more until everyone has been infected or is vaccinated

Does Thailand’s deal for 8.5 million ATKs pass the corruption test?

So available on Alibaba for 33 baht but bid to supply is 70 baht. Shouldn't the bid to supply be much lower than the alibaba price, bulk buying etc -
Wouldn't really work, it didn't elsewhere. Cases will rocket, people will die in far greater numbers. Thailands hedging their bets lockdown version 9.0, made things much worse than they had to be. Thailand made the wrong choice over and over trying to keep the economy going as long as possible, when what was needed was a total lockdown as strict as that in 2020. By having a light touch approach over a longer period, they inflicted far more damage on the economy than any hard lockdown ever would

Thailand reports daily record of 235 new coronavirus deaths
ourmanflint replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I suspect the meagre lockdown rules have resulted in a meagre drop in the rate of increase of new cases. Unfortunately for Thailand it is just a pause in the eventual return to rapid increases, as the vaccination programme is far too slow to impact things and pressures to end even the current minimal lockdown rules will increase quickly as loss of earnings impact lives more than the chance of catching and spreading the virus. Enjoy it while it lasts -
Thailand reports 19,983 new COVID-19 cases, 138 deaths
ourmanflint replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
The mind boggles to why they are not targeting the elderly before giving anyone else vaccinations if "74% of those who died were older than 60 years old" And even now some idiots are talking about vaccinating children -
