  1. Absolutely, it seems, as the Swiss guy is well off, she is after some form of compensation = money?
  2. JK Rowling has challenged Scotland's new hate crime law in a series of social media posts - inviting police to arrest her if they believe she has committed an offence. The Harry Potter author, who lives in Edinburgh, described several transgender women as men, including convicted prisoners, trans activists and other public figures. She said "freedom of speech and belief" was at an end if accurate description of biological sex was outlawed. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c51j64lk2l8o
  3. Yes, when you pray for rain, you have to deal with the mud too!
  4. Well I recall after the first few protests in London, by the pro Palestine mob, shouting Jihad etc, the police were asked why they weren't arresting the people shouting pro Hamas names, which is illegal, the Chief of the Met said they were too scared and outnumbered to do anything!
  5. Absolutely correct, but it won't happen in the UK! The Government are too scared!
  6. To work in a bar, I thought the girls had to be 20 or over? So a tourist going into such a bar would expect the girls to be, well obviously over 18?
  7. That been said some of the balconies have very low guard rails and if you are above average height, it is quite possible!
  8. Exactly, why do people do this, they don't help the Op, they just cause more problems!!
  9. Quite so, the authorities only eye short term money coming into Thailand, not the after affects!
  10. The captain has the final say, it is his/her responsibility!
  11. Exactly, any other airline would have said something like 'we take safety very seriously and go to great lengths to ensure our customers are kept informed of any diversions, in this case the captain, who's decision it was, decided to divert because of weather etc...... We are sorry if this inconvenienced any passengers!' It's standard boilerplate stuff that all airlines use. But to sue the passenger is beyond ridiculous. They would need to prove they have lost business over this at least, plus which the passenger apologized!
  12. Wouldn't it be wiser to see if he is guilty first? That's why they have courts?
  13. Quite rightly this absurd ruling has reached the International Press, but I don't think it will make any difference! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-68151262 The Thai pro-democracy party which won the most votes at last year's election could now be forced to dissolve after a court ruled its key policy illegal. Move Forward is not in government but its promises to campaign on changing royal defamation laws violated the constitution, a Thai court has found. Such lese majeste laws have increasingly been used to stifle political criticism, activists say. It is possible Move Forward's leader could now be banned from politics. Pita Limjaroenrat, a young, Harvard-educated politician, had been viewed as a significant threat to Thailand's monarchy and military-aligned elite, winning over a majority of voters in 2023 with his party's promises to rein in their influence. His attempts to be nominated prime minister, however, were then blocked by the unelected Senate.
  14. Was that sarcasm, if it was......Good One!
  15. I fully agree, you 'should' know, but people do strange things when in an awkward situation, that they have never been in before and may turn to instinct.
  16. The problem is, no matter their background, you don't really know what will happen until you are in a situation that they may or may not use a sharp object?
  17. I see most of the posters have already decided the 'Brit' is guilty, but it seems he is counter claiming? According to Pattaya police, Mr. James has counter claimed that he suffered a fractured skull inflicted by Mr. Weeraphon and that the motorbike taxi driver allegedly stole 10,000 baht from him. Mr. James said all of his actions were in self-defense. He filed a complaint against both the unidentified motorcycle driver and Mr. Weeraphon, insisting he was the victim in the incident. Both Mr. James and Mr. Weeraphon were subsequently sent to Banglamung Hospital for treatment. Pattaya police are gathering evidence and will arrange further interrogations with all the parties involved to determine the facts in this particular situation. This would include identifying and interviewing the motorbike taxi driver and reviewing CCTV in the area. The matter could proceed to Thai court, notes TPN media, if the different parties involved continue to have opposite allegations and statements. Both parties are also reportedly seeking financial compensation for medical bills and damages from the incident. No taking any sides but surely it would be best to wait and see what transpires, this is Thailand and it is 'amazing'??
  18. Actually its 'The love of money is the root of all evil'
  19. Well I will go out on a limb and say probably nothing!
  20. Maybe they are trying to make up for Covid? I am being a little sarcastic!
  21. Agree, the alleged crimes are horrendous and if he is found guilty he should get the maximum sentence, but until he is found guilty why show his face.
  22. In the jungle, where they come from perhaps?
  23. Correct, but now can he come back? According to the BBC: "Police were also reportedly looking to charge the Sri Lankan man, who had kept the lion in his rented pool villa, but were unable to as he is no longer in Thailand. He was due to be charged with bringing a controlled wild animal into public places, which carries jail time of up to six months and a fine of 50,000 baht. " https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-68091153
