More than 5M Chinese Visitors expected in Thailand next year
mikeymike100 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-64102176 Looks like they have started to prepare already? "Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and South Korea were the most popular destinations" Well at least TAT will be happy????? -
You make some very valid points. The problem is Thailand and TAT may not see it as everyone else does? They seem to want the money first and worry about potential risks later? In this case if the floodgates are opened and 5million Chinese come to Thailand, will it overwhelm the hospitals in Thailand, will the authorities be taking any responsibility for checking incoming passengers from China, PCR tests etc? Who knows?

The Thai Government and TAT are seemingly only concerned about money and not any potential risks that come with opening the floodgates to the Chinese? -

Visa agent not responding to calls
mikeymike100 replied to Guderian's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There might be some simple explanation? It might be wise to exhaust all possibilities first? There was a backlog in Jomtien immigration? Going to immigration and asking if they know what happened might be a good idea, if the OP has a picture of her and obviously knows her name. Problem now is the IO is closed for a few days. -

Do you have a picture of her, if you have her Line account? It would certainly help if you did ask at immigration? -
Pattaya New Year Countdown to go ahead with spectacular fireworks
mikeymike100 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
"It seems that Pattaya authorities have changed their mind and will go ahead with the firework display at the New Year countdown celebration on December 31st." They must have realized how much money they would lose? I bet TAT is pleased with the decision? -
Chinese businessman Tuhao’s Thai wife and business partner arrested
mikeymike100 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Apparently hr didn't get the memo????? -
Surely its a personal decision, some use an agent, pay for a service and get peace of mind, don't go to immigration and have to deal with sometimes difficult officers? Some folks decide to go to immigration with their paperwork and take their chance? Now most folk that do the latter have everything in order and things go well, but I have seen reports on AN where they haven't, possible ill prepared paperwork or a difficult officer, I don't know? If you live close to the IO, its usually not a problem, but some folks do live 4 hours plus away, then its a problem, if you need to get something? Not all IO's are the same, there is inconsistency not just in the individual offices, but even individual officers?

Chinese illicit influence scandals in Thailand
mikeymike100 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Problem is, is it just a few? Last few weeks on AN alone there have been around a dozen reports of Chinese mafia/gangsters posing as businessmen? Of course some of the RTP were no doubt involved, but i think its considerably more than a few? They are into illegal casinos, ED visas, property etc
