  1. Too busy trying to get rid of the opposition.
  2. You're correct. There is of course another level of power at play within Thailand. I'm not sure if these people care at all about the west and repercussions. This may well be a move towards China. Just an educated thought.
  3. Do you think voting for a megalomaniac general is better? One who changed the constitution to remain in power? One who stacked the senate by buying off his military croneys is better? A person who dissolves oppostion parties? A person who may be behind the disappearances of opposition individuals? This guy is hated by everybody except his moron conservative fanboys. Are you're one of them? Or am I wrong and you think change is needed? A pitiful confused or sad anonomized emoji won't do. Be brave and tell us all by responding to my post. No deflection that Thaksin is a criminal tell us all what you think about Prayut.
  4. This is exactly what my Thai friend told me. It won't happen before the election but after. People are watching. I said to him it's happened in Myanmar but no countries seem to care. Will it be the same here? Interesting question he said but nevertheless Thailand needs to move forward. My conspiracy theory if you like is China is backing this all the way. They want Thailand to be a military dictatorship. Big call I know but not out of the realms of possibility.
  5. Tis a shame. I remember being told as a kid religion and politics shouldn't be discussed at at the dinner table, parties etc. This is only because of 'don't rock the boat'. Don't ask questions. Don't challenge the percieved norm. Well it's too late now. The world has moved on considerably since those days. The sad or frightening thing is some people haven't.
  6. Indeed. My daughter 13 is telling her mum not to vote Phue Thai. Vote Orange. Vote 31. My friend I mentioned above is in his late 40's. Same thing. Get rid of the old guard.
  7. When you say group you are correct. A very, very, very high powered group at that. Specifics can not be mentioned.
  8. Beer Lao prices Cj MORE. Almost double the price from what it is in Loas.
  9. I have just a good chat with a Thai friend. Smart person. I told him about this dissolution rumour. He said good. The people will fight. The people want change. I know this is only one persons opinion but I reckon it's indicative of the majority of the population. His vote is going to MFP. He also said that any dissolution moves will come post election.
  10. I said years ago that at the nxt election a people's revolution may well be on the cards because this maniac general will not give up his power and will keep it by whatever means necessary. If these 'rumors' of dissolution come to pass or he remains in power by his paid off lackeys in the senate and not the people's will then a people's revolution is well on thre cards. Times may very well change very quickly here. If and I say if this happens then I would expect a reaction from Prayut not dissimilar to what happened in Myanmar. There is of course someone else in the mix (I'm not talking Thaksin here) but what will the reaction from there be? This country may be on the verge of something very big. I really hope this will not be the case but sometimes change only happens through force be it peaceful or violent.
  11. They do tend to do things the Thai way when it comes to stock. Instead of stock taking to see what needs to be restocked before it sells out in they wait until it's sold out and then order more. Anyhow next time you go to Kalasin you could check Cj there or the bottle shop in town.
  12. What's the white IPA like? I like the 6% aspect. I bought a large can of this Indonesian stout: Can't remember but I think Bt166. 12.4% of pure camel's piss. Absolutely horrible.
  13. Indeed more choice in no way would mean more drinking. Just a rediculous notion. What it does mean is less profits for the oligarchs which in turn would mean less backhanders for the politicians maintaining said oligarchy.
  14. Indeed. It's a good little alcohol and cigs place. Kalasin also has a Cj More.
  15. For future reference: A monopoly market is where there [is] one seller and a large number of buyers. A duopoly market is where there are two sellers and a large number of buyers ..... . An oligopoly market is where there are [a] few sellers and a large number of buyers. https://data-flair.training/blogs/market-structure/ The beer market in Thailand is therefore an oligopoly.
  16. Yep. If his paid off cronies get him back in the chances of seeing this again are high.
  17. Thai beers also use rice and not wanting to be picky but it's an oligopoly not a duopoly as there are 3 companies. Use to be two. Thai Asia Pacific Breweries was registered in 1993 and began operations in 1995. Doesn't really matter if it's 2 or 3 they control the market, the control govt decisions in regards to maintaining control and all 3 produce cat's piss.
  18. Did you ask? Maybe they were out of stock. I'm not sure if individual managers have a choice or maybe it wasn't selling so they pulled it from that store. Might be worth another look?
  19. Then he'll stage a coup against himself. Is that even possible?
  20. Cj More (previously Cj Express). If you've got one of these in town they sell it. Bt58 I think. This group is reasonably new to Issan. I would check google maps as there might be one in your neibourhood. I think Tops also sell it.
  21. Not yet but that's because it's still the hot season. We'll have to wait and see how much wet we get when the season arrives.
  22. I like Lao Dark but it's around the Bt60 mark for a small bottle. I can easily down 2 rather rapidly but not something I can afford to buy all the time. It's an oligopoly and that's the way they want to keep it. Must be hundreds of breweries/micro breweries in Australia with thousands of labels.
  23. Is freedom of speach on any of the parties platforms and exactly who is it that determines what is and isn't misinformation? Will the word corruption now show up on their algorithm and be flagged as misinformation?
  24. This means 93% of all Thai beer is rubbish. No argument from me. Anything half decent in the other 7% is expensive.
  25. I find it interesting that in this 'energy crisis' energy companies are making their biggest profits ever.
