  1. Thaksin Shinawatra’s Influence Revives Political Cynicism in Thailand Another rediculous headline. For something to be revived it must have at one time or another stopped. If and I say IF anyone wasn't cynical of Thai politics before the last election they sure are now. Let's face it cynicism is a synonym for Thai politics and always has been. So no rivival. Continuence is the term.
  2. Ok you are right and the following info is obviously wrong. Please pay close attention to point 1 in the 5 differences. Myocardial infarction (MI), colloquially known as "heart attack," is caused by decreased or complete cessation of blood flow to a portion of the myocardium. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK537076/#:~:text=Myocardial infarction (MI)%2C colloquially, hemodynamic deterioration and sudden death. https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/medical/heart-attack-and-cardiac-arrest 5 differences between a heart attack and a cardiac arrest: (Remember a heart attack is technically known as a myocardial infarction) A heart attack is not the same as a cardiac arrest. A heart attack is when one of the coronary arteries becomes blocked. The heart muscle is robbed of its vital blood supply and, if left untreated, will begin to die because it is not getting enough oxygen. A cardiac arrest is when a person’s heart stops pumping blood around their body and they stop breathing normally. Many cardiac arrests in adults happen because of a heart attack. This is because a person who is having a heart attack may develop a dangerous heart rhythm, which can cause a cardiac arrest. A heart attack and a cardiac arrest are both emergency situations. Call 999 straight away.
  3. Conjecture but likely. This is what autopsies are for. Expert analysis on cause of death.
  4. The actual cause of death has not been released so if it was his heart then it could've been heart failure, a cardiac arrest or a myocardial infarction (heart attack). Three seperate conditions.
  5. If you think going with authoritarianism and fundementalist theocracies is the way to go then you have a right to that opinion. I think many on here would like to know your reasoning behind this though.
  6. Yes and Axis of Evil applies to George W. Bush's reference to Iran, Iraq and North Korea. So what's your point?
  7. People got disappeared under Prayut. People were jailed for protesting under the weaponised Section 112. Absolutely no bragging rights when it comes to Prayut.
  8. The difficult time in Iran is for the people who hate the fanatical religious government and it's morality police and it's fundementalists laws. I'll guarantee there's some celebrating going on. The problem is of course when one fundementalist dies (got knocked off????) another madman will replace him.
  9. This is a person behind the execution of people protesting or the barbarian religious morality police that are widely acknoweledged of beating Mahsa Amini so severely she died because she wasn't wearing her hijab up to governmen standards. The people at the top of Iran are complete monsters and Thailand puts flags at half mast. Absolutely disgusting.
  10. Lot's of Thais I talk to call him a traitor for getting into bed with the enemy something PTP said would never happen.
  11. Long haul flights are different but not by much. A bit of a walk around to get the circulation going, getting up to order a drink is my preference, then sit down, belt-up and booze on.
  12. A heart attack is different to cardiac arrest. A heart attack is a myocardial infarction which is caused by a blockage to the heart so oxygenated blood can't get to the heart and a cardiac arrest is more of an electronic failing leading to the heart muscles failing to beat properly or stop beating altogether.
  13. How do you go to the toilet? Walking around is recommended to avoid deep vein thrombosis especially on long haul flight. It's obviously not pratical to stay belted up all the time. When seated certainly though.
  14. Maybe time to stop posting. If this is an effort at humour it's not a good one. If it isn't then maybe you shouldn't start .......... so early in the day.
  15. Nothing will ever happen as long as the 200+ billion baht budget gets syphoned off into pockets all the way down the line to directors and sub-directors. Of course there are other issues. Too many students per class, not enough teachers, complete lack of effective discipline, anachronistic cultural norms, lack of or complete absence of technology, teacher attitudes, student attitudes, way too much useless paperwork for teachers to do, too many stupid out of class activities etc, etc, etc. Not a bad article and interestingly attributed to Thai PBS. I wonder if TheThaigerChatGPT/AN have had their hands slapped for direct, unattributed lifts from other sites?
  16. Thaksin Advised Against Exerting Excess Behind-The-Scenes Power Shinawatra has been cautioned to limit his political influence from behind the scenes So as long as he limits it to somewhere less than excessive it's ok then? Cabinet reshuffle? Less than excessive? It would seem so. Absurd.
  17. Yep. Meals on long haul flights do not always align with what some consider to be a particular time or there abouts for a particular meal. SQ321 departed Heathrow at 22.10 GMT. Plane landed BKK 08:45GMT/15:45 Thai time. Meal served was breakfast. Breakfast: Break the fast. The flight would have had a dinner meal sometime after takeoff after reaching cruising altitude and speed. For most people this will be very easy to understand.
  18. "Chuck a hearty" is @Ralf001 showing his complete lack of empathy and compassion for someone who appears to have died from a myocardial infarction aka heart attack brought on by the mid-air incident.
  19. The flight was heading to Singapore so more than two hours. BKK as correctly stated in the article (they got this right) was the emergency landing airport.
  20. I'm sorry you're upset and have to lash out calling me an idiot. Sadly it would seem you didn't read or didn't understand the definition of clear air turbulence posted above. Pilots fly above, around and between storms. You know where there air is clear and where clear air turbulence can be encountered. It's not a difficult concept to understand. I've copied this from @Georgealbert (cheers hope you don't mind) and it clearly shows an area which is ..... well ....clear!
  21. Not "nobody" wearing seatbelts. Those buckled up would have been basically unaffected (scared shtless for sure) but those not buckled up would have been airborne.
  22. If it keeps up every or almost every day then I agree but will this once again be the false start to the wet. May is often this way then the rain basically stops for a month of more with hot humid days and occasional storms until it finally breaks into the real wet season.
  23. Rediculous comment and clearly shows your lack of knowledge about turbulence and doppler radar. It is absolutely evident that this particular patch of turbulence was very much unexpected. It happens.
  24. From what I've read yes so please stop you're puerile baiting attemps. Being that you obviously have no idea what clear air turbulence is here's a definition. Clear Air Turbulence (CAT) Clear Air Turbulence (CAT) is defined as sudden severe turbulence occurring in cloudless regions that causes violent buffeting of aircraft. This term is commonly applied to higher altitude turbulence associated with wind shear. The most comprehensive definition is high-altitude turbulence encountered outside of convective clouds. This includes turbulence in cirrus clouds, within and in the vicinity of standing lenticular clouds and, in some cases, in clear air in the vicinity of thunderstorms. Generally, though, CAT definitions exclude turbulence caused by thunderstorms, low-altitude temperature inversions, thermals, strong surface winds, or local terrain features [source: FAA AC 00-30C]. https://skybrary.aero/articles/clear-air-turbulence-cat
  25. Mumbai is Bombay but thanks, made me look up the new names. As for telling me where I landed that's just incredibly arogant. I think I know where I landed thank you very much and it wasn't Mumbai previously Bombay as I sateted. My mistake. It was Chenai previously Madras and it was a DC 10. Indeed it was a Malaysian Airlines DC 10.
