Getting a better idea of what it what up there, It's the THAI side of the bridge that's not letting people back in. 😖 People yesterday stamped out of thailand, went to Lao, bought the visa on arrival, stamped in stamped out, took the bus back across and the thai side turned them back 😮 They had to go back to lao get their exit stamps cancelled and be let back in. AND as much as it pains me to say this, the announcement from the border bounce company is 100% correct, the Thai side is saying you have to stay OUT of thailand two nights They said they will pick up the "stranded" people tomorrow morning when they're allowed back in

As I said, the agencies that bounce people to the borders in Chiang Rai province are not full service providers like the agencies in Bangkok or Pattaya They are just transportation to the border and back. They don't have a prearranged system in place to get people out back like a "real" border bounce company. The report I got from last night was customers of the bounce companies and people who showed up on their own to Chiang Khong all got stuck coming back. Also at this time I don't know which side (Thai or Lao) implemented the policy, but I couldn't fault Lao for wanting people stay at least a night in their country to "spread the wealth" some .

We got quite a few reports yesterday of people up in Chiang Rai trying to bounce out/back at the Chiang Khong/Huay Xai border that they have to spend the night IN Lao before they can come back. It appears at this time it's limited to Chiang Khong; as in there were no reports from Chiang Saen where you cross by boat or Nong Khai & Mukdahan/Savannakhet was stamping people out/back like normal. Just a heads up people IF you're trying to bounce out/back to get a new free entry stamp at the Chiang Khong border pack a change of clothes and tooth brush The thing is with those companies they are not like the bounce companies in Bangkok/Pattaya where you pay a price and everything is included getting out or thailand in and out of Cambodia and then back in to thailand. The bounce companies in Chiang Mai are more like glorified taxi services. They pretty much just take you there and cut you loose, you get across on your own, buy the Lao visa on arrival, pay your way across friendship bridge and back etc. Anyway just wanted to let the people know up in that area of thailand how the border bouncing is working as of yesterday afternoon. this is an announcement from one of the border bounce companies in Chiang Mai.

Visa run to Chom Chong question
Tod Daniels replied to speerbob's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That is 100% total b/s, she shows her US passport to get OUT of the US and she could have shown her thai passport to get IN to thailand no issue at all. THOUSANDS of thaiz who hold US nationality do that every time they come to thailand They don't look for stamps from other countries when she comes back to the US, they KNOW she's thai and holds a thai passport No she shouldn't do that at all really There's no need to bounce her out and back That's exactly what she should do, GO to the immigration office in the area where you live, show her thai passport, thai i/d and house book listing and get a one year extension for 1900baht It's the easiest extension the immigration office issues for ANY reason. Also you can get a 60 day "visit thai family" extension at the immigration office too for 1900baht as well -
Marriage Visa - Proof of Income
Tod Daniels replied to Aussie999's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That you did not hear it, does not negate the fact that it is true at more than a few offices when it comes to extensions based on marriage to a thai trying to use 40,000 baht income method by transfer -
Marriage Visa - Proof of Income
Tod Daniels replied to Aussie999's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
2 MONTHS date to date before you apply for the extension (except for the month of Feb when they add 2 days 😮) So if you show up April 17th to apply for an extension you needed to have the money in the bank before Feb 15th -
EU is not a country 😕 and entry to thailand is controlled by country of passport origin. You do know that 90+ countries are on the new "free stamp" 60 day visa exempt entry program right? Maybe your nationality is on it That would mean you could come in visa exempt, get 60 days, and take one 30 day extension If you're from a country that is not on the list then go ahead and buy a single entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in your country before you wing your way here

Thailand overstay 32 Days
Tod Daniels replied to Dande's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Okay, how about you tell us the date you stamped IN to thailand and the date you're allowed to be here because your post is sure screwy BOY I SURE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO READ 😮 My apologies to @Dande If you showed up July 12th you should have been stamped in until Aug 10th (which was a Saturday) and IF you'd gone to the immigration office yesterday (the first day they were open after the weekend and holiday on Monday you could have gotten your 30 day extension WITHOUT paying an overstay fine You can still go to the immigration office pay the 500baht a day fine and get your 30 day extension like normal 🙂 Can you post an image of your red entry stamp so people can get to the bottom of this -
Mai Sai border run
Tod Daniels replied to thirsty21's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Up in Chiang Rai the only borders open are the ones with the Lao border Chiang Khong/Huay Xai Chiang Saen/SEZ (Special Economic Zone) The ONLY border with burma that's open for foreigners to bounce out and back at is the one in Ranong at the pier where you bounce by boat to Kawthaung Burma These are the CLOSED borders Mae Sai/Tachileik Chiang Rai Mae Sot/Myawaddy Tak Phu Nam Ron/Htee Khee Kanchanaburi -
Marriage Visa - Proof of Income
Tod Daniels replied to Aussie999's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Umm the Auzzie embassy here in thailand hasn't provided the stat dec for income from abroad since Dec 2018 😮 so this is not a new issue (although it might be new for you) You put 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the year extension at your immigration office Some offices won't even accept 40K baht by monthly income for marriage visa/extensions anymore unless you get that money by legally working inside thailand So even transferring in 40K baht a month each month every month for the previous year won't get you a visa/extension at some offices anymore -
Visa run to Chom Chong question
Tod Daniels replied to speerbob's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
you are indeed at least a little mixed up 😉 YES you can bounce out and back to get a 60 day free entry stamp at that border, yes you can do an out/in without issue at that border (meaning you don't need to stay IN cambodia overnight) As people said you will BUY a visa on arrival to cambodia when you get to the border, they'll put it in your passport, mark it used, then stamp you in to cambodia, you turn around, stamp out and come right back to thailand -
right your report was rejected because the first 90 day report after returning from abroad now has to be made in person. AFAIK there aren't any services that do door to door 90 day reporting, 😕 You can slog on over to Bumrungrad Hospital 10th floor business center, they'll do a 90 day report for you for 650 baht and then you pick up your passport from them a few days later

Get Non-O visa 3month at Savannakhet
Tod Daniels replied to asia123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You certainly would be able to get a 60 day visa exempt entry (if you're one of the 90+ countries on the list) at a land border as long as you picked the correct border to bounce out and back at As in DO NOT try to bounce out/back at the Aranyaprathet/Poipet border 🙂 -
Non-Immigrant Visa(O-A) Renewal
Tod Daniels replied to Koala123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
yep, you should get stamped in until the current insurance you have expires (just like it says on your PDF eVisa) and when you get the new policy you EXIT/RE-ENTER the country to get a new year entry stamp (or as long as your new insurance is valid for up to a year) -
DTV after non-O marriage visa.
Tod Daniels replied to Bobajob's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
They most likely won't say a single thing to you about being on a DTV now I mean worst case you tell the truth you went back to the UK for an emergency and you got the DTV instead of a Non-O Come on in and enjoy the 5 year visa 👍 -
Is this plan of action ok.
Tod Daniels replied to Issanraider's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Unless you come from a country whose embassy here issues the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter ( which the UK, the US, and Australia no longer do) you cannot use monthly income to get the 90 day Non-O visa or get the first year extension 2 months after that you can only use the monthly income by 65k baht a month transfers for the SECOND year of your yearly extension. The rule is you need to transfer in 65K baht a month, each month, every month for the previous 12 months. -
Is this plan of action ok.
Tod Daniels replied to Issanraider's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Totally good plan of attack 👍 Make sure once you're here to go over to Khon Kaen and get the hand out listing the requirements for the in country 90 day Non-O visa (which costs 2000baht). THEN Once you get the Non-O and new 90 day stamp inked in get the hand out listing the requirements for the in country year extension of stay (which costs 1900baht) That way you know the documentation, copies, bank letter, bank book updating, TM30, map etc you need for what you're doing -
NO, if you buy a 90 day single entry, you get stamped in ONE time for 90 days. A re-entry permit does not ADD time to that 90 days, just lets you exit/re-enter DURING that time and still get the 90 day expiration date on the stamp. You need to buy the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa which is unlimited entry during the whole year the visa is valid for

It's 20 baht to get a Kor Ror 2 printed at ANY amphur in the country. (as long as you were married AFTER the started digitizing the data 😛 ) I had one person married 20 years ago and their info was not in the data base, so they had to go back to the Amphur in Nakhon Nowhere where they were married, have the clerk find the actual hard copy, upload it and then it was in the data base 😛

go to Vientiane or Savannakhet and get the 90 day single entry Non-O based on marriage to a thai. There are no proof of funds to get that visa THEN come back in, get the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the yearly extension at the immigration office There's no way around banking the funds here if you're going for a year extension and you come from a country whose embassy doesn't issue the affidavit of income notary (which the brit consulate here does NOT do)
-
I looked and looked and couldn't find a single confirmed report of anyone going to the HCMC thai consulate to get a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai since the covid sh*t-show ended and the countries opened back up 😕 In fact I could only find ONE confirmed report of someone getting a 90 day single entry there I'd say CALL them (they speak english just fine) and ask OR resign yourself to slogging to Savannakhet <- remember they now require you show 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the year/multi Non-O
