  1. Yeah I came with my wife and they gave her his wife and I got him. 😭 The daughter was busy on another person too. This was my first trip to Hua Hin and was about 20k south from the city. Maybe that's how the they roll there but I'm not down.
  2. We're screwed they're going to keep burning and won't stop until the rains.
  3. Last night I'm rode out to my house in Samoeng (the 226 number sitting alone on the east of the map) and I counted no less than 5 forest fires and multiple smaller fire in various places. I can't prove it but this seems coordinated. My guess is that they started burning in anticipation of the summer storm that was supposed to come on the 3rd-5th. This is why the air is so horrible today, stupid selfish people. I mostly blame the Hmong people but there's probably others involved too. So it doesn't matter how much the city of Chiang Mai does to reduce pollution because all it takes is a handful of these bleeps to start fires and the whole city will be wrecked.
  4. The only thing really deplorable was harass that poor guy on the airline for wearing a mask. Regardless of what you think about COVID that was hard to watch. I didn't know about the scamming thing until now. His channel was entraining and his crusade against the libtards and women in Pai was good fun to watch. But he's clearly got emotional problems and should have kept his antics to himself.
  5. Exactly. They're going to fail so hard they may give up. That's why many of us are waiting to see what happens. Remember Thailand is a country which builds new roads then digs them up the next day for utilities because they can't manage basic communication between departments.
  6. but isn't the amount of tax paid in Thailand dependent on the amount paid in the US? Given that I don't see how one can apply towards the other.
  7. One of my uncles lives there for some of the year. I'd like some more Mexican food in my life too.
  8. Agreed all good points. We can make a list of things that are nice the US too. It's not so black and white for me.
  9. Colorado in the summer is heaps better than Chiang Mai. Great weather and everyone is out kicking ass keeping fit and healthy. You can even go sit under a tree at a park and not be all sweaty. Amazing! That's why I go back 2 months a year but I would ideally stay March-September if I could.
  10. I got a massage from a man this year. I didn't want to refuse his service which they seemed to run as a family with his wife and daughter. Such is life.
  11. It'll be back. The conditions are ripe for a revolution. It could be very interesting in the coming years.
  12. Just a picture I found on Google. It's that bad??
  13. Wait and see what happens then pay any fines if you need to. I already pay 25%+ on my US income. If they want up to 10% I will tolerate that and remit no more than 30,000/month. Any extra I need I'll sneak through my wife's account which is how I transfer all my money anyways. I was going to build a small house next year for about 1.5 mil baht but I will be sitting on my newly purchased land until I know more. If they want more than that I'll take this is a cue to find a way to live less time in Thailand, something I've wanted to do for a long time anyways but was never motivated enough to do.
  14. People aren't being honest with themselves. Just admit it if you had infinite money you would have a nice house back home and you would be spending less time in Thailand complaining about things on internet forums. Maybe you wouldn't even be in Thailand at all.
  15. The newscasters agree people already know this but they don't say it! That's why Thailand gets the corrupt police they have. It's their "culture" to ignore corruption and keep their heads down. Serves them right. Ironically the reason he's in trouble is probably because one of his enemies knew the head police in Pai and leveraged that. No way they would make a national story out of it otherwise.
  16. I refuse to believe UK is as bad as expats make it sound. I've never been before but I'm certain of this. Sure if you're broke and retired maybe it sucks but if you're secure and have a good home in a good area it looks pretty nice to me. Chiang Mai looks like an industrial hellscape right now. That's better than Glasgow?
  17. Those newscasters watched a propaganda video with out of context clips made by one of the many enemies he made in Pai. What they don't know is there was a Thai woman helping him build the house which he called "mama June". Shocking for a country that calls everyone mom, dad, uncle regardless of actual family relations. What they also didn't didn't see was his endless gushing over Thailand and how great it is, how grateful he is etc... Lesson is before you make enemies in Thailand make sure you're squeaky clean on social media. For many of us here if we made enemies and they found what we said on this forum then reported it to the media we would be deported too. I can think of some members in particular that are ruthless critics of the Thai government, 100x more than Tom and with a years of records as proof.
  18. the owner of that house must have been trying really hard to get rid of it. He could very well get deported before he can pay it off.
  19. nope. Just being a baby and crying because he got hurt. Shameful behavior if you ask me.
  20. You think I care enough to research on the history of Pai? No thank you. The less I know the better.
  21. someone else posted this but it got buried I guess. Here's the reel one of his enemies made. Nothing worse than what's said on this forum everyday but it's really about that. He also gushed about how much he loved Thailand constantly and that was the mass majority of his opinion on Thailand. Also not shown is his ranting against the UK. He's clearly on team Thailand and always has been.
  22. He had some very vulgar stuff about gay sex mixed in to his videos. He crashed his bike and the nurses had to clean the wounds weekly so he called the nurse a <deleted> once for hurting him. Very pathetic way to behave but he did apologize eventually. This guy has emotional problems for sure.
  23. I started watching him because I wanted to see if that business is going to work. He's paying like 150k/month for the mortgage but i don't see how you can make that up selling weed. He didn't even know about the low season and how dead it gets. To spend 5 mil on a house in a country you haven't lived in one year is crazy.
  24. how so? It's a tourist ghetto for a particular type of person. My brother had a business there for nearly 10 years and says the police are corrupt and do favors for cash. Politicians are corrupt too and do favors also. Stupid place to live imo.
  25. He just needs to leave Pai. He's totally angered them and made lots of enemies. Impressive work for being in Thailand less than 1 year. For people asking what he said it's not about that. He made enemies and they dug up dirt on him. The police are probably corrupt too and doing favors for their friends.
