Expats angry at huge concessions in latest Thai visa announcements
kwilco replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
THat shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how things work in Thailand - If you are a person "of influence" in Thailand you can to all intents and purposes by above the law - a humble farang may not find that so easy. - without a load of cash to spend. -
You appear to be joining a discussion to which you either don't know the answer or don't understand. I don't know the owners name or his staff - they may have opened and not got on Google yet as they are new or it's equally possible they have started under a different name I'm really not prepared to receive such facile answers. Could you not think around the topic a bit more to help you realise that you can't be of any help?

I'm not - I'm asking if the restaurant has reopened elsewhere - It requires someone with up to date knowledge of Pattaya "Does anyone know if they are planning to re-open? .. or have they already doe so? Maybe somewhere else in Pattaya?" Why do you think I'm asking how to Google?
-
I'd they say are both wrong then. Look at the dates? - the tripadvisor reviews are all rre-Covid Google maps says permanently closed. - WWHH+Q8R, Noen Plubwan Rd, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150, Thailand I drove past in March and it looked derelict. Do you have a link for the ones claiming it to be open?

TH Vientiane restaurant was always pone of the best eateries in Pattaya - the last one on the "Dark side" - is now closed. Does anyone know if they are planning to re-open? .. or have they already doe so? Maybe somewhere else in Pattaya?

British Driver Arrested in Wichit for Reckless Driving- VIDEO
kwilco replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Breaks the law and then complains - like a kid saying "his burger is bigger than mine!" I would say that what he did and said on being stopped had more to do with the fine than any racial profiling. After over 20 years of extensive driving in Thailand, I've seen no evidence of police chasing foreigners more than Thais - in fact many avoid it as it's too much hassle (see bove). It's only personal observation and critical thinking rather than blind prejudice and confirmation bias, but there are no stats to back this up. When foreign drivers are stopped they seem to get everything wrong and make matters worse for themselves. Cultural insensitivity. THey seem to think that their home motoring laws operate in Thailand and have a racist sense of entitlement that won't endear them to any RTP ..Drivers in Thailand need to educate themsleves and adapt to driving in THailand - yelling and blamoing others usually means it it YOU that's fundamentally at fault. -

I think this will change too.... let's face it most "new measures" in Thailand are not fully thought out. What worries me is they will just cancel the whole thing.Tourists like to use Thailand as a hub for touring neighbouring countries in the region and this can involve several land border crossings - if tat is lost, it would be a great shome. -

Irish footballer fights for his life after bike crash in Thailand

It doesn't cover a lot and there are restrictions on what it's for. he scheme provides up to 500,000 baht (US\$14,000) in medical coverage and up to 1 million baht (US\$28,000) in the event of death. The scheme ran from January 1 to August 31, 2024, to help tourists feel safe while visiting the country. I think it's been extended beyond that. -

I'm well aware of the situation - but re you aware that there already have been moves by the authorities to address the problem. THe main problem is that the businesses themselves don't want to comply and also visitors are totally uneducated about the risks of riding uninsured etc etc. In some tourist areas police are in fact clamping down on unlicensed riders. It's actually impossible to get accurate figures of the number of tourists killed or injured on Thai roads as thos numbers include huge groups of immigrant workers etc. In places like Samui and Phuket there are certainly unacceptable numbers of tourists ending up injured or dead because of motorcycling -if they become more aware the the urge to rent a step-through may reduce regardless of what the rental companies think. It's wroking for elephants so maybe it'll work for step -hroughs. -

Rental companies need to be more vigilant when renting out bikes. It may mean more expensie rentals and even less business, but it also means less deaths and injuries -

Bangkok Hotel Deaths: Vietnamese Guide Admits to Supplying Snake Poison

That correct. There is no point in dribbling info. The public may want to know but at this stage the police should shut up until they know the truth, which is what the public are entitled to. This gross mismanagement and speculation will eventually lead to any evidence in court being worthless. -

THis further suggests that the current government is mismanaging tourism's recovery across the country. THe new visa exempt and visa deals are leading to high concentrations of tourists in a few tourism hotspots. THis means that the benefits to the nation are regional and for the few, there will be further increased damage to the very environment that Thailand sells to tourists and some areas damaged by Covid are not seeing the benefits. -
Thai PM Denies Terrorism Link to Hotel Deaths, FBI Sends Team

People can be dim....dim people love conspiracy theories. This story is fertile ground for every conspiracy theory in the book. The problem is that as per usual, the Thai authorities are unable to manage the situation properly. Rather than investigate the police have issued theory after theory... they couldn't even get the nationality right.... the sad thing is that due to all this bluster and blunder, we will probably never know for sure what happened ... -
