Having a car (i've owned 2 pickups and 2 motorcycle since 2003) is the best thing ever! I've travelled all over the country and visited places most foreigners don't even know exist. - I also used it for work extensively every day. In BKK you don't need a car for getting around town but you do for getting OUT of town. In BKK you just need a place to keep a car when not using it. Car ownership in Thailand is also relatively cheap - repairs and fuel costs are very low - and road tax and insurance are also reasonable compared to Europe.

I've been camping in Thailand since 2003. This list seems a bit random - all National parks have campsites which rent out equipment - of varying quality. You don't discuss getting there or taking you own stuff. there is also the controversial charging of foreigners and even possibly by the day. you could also have given more informative photos of the actual camping facilities

Like any national park anywhere in the world, dogs are banned.

Elephant owners are required to register DNA of their animals with - I don't know - but there is a registration n system that allegedly has over 90% of countries captive population. Not sure it actually says where they are. (I could tell you stories of real estate on Samui that would make you hair curl!)

OK - Nruchai Ninnad deputy director-general of the Department of Consular Affairs at Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the 60 day is "permanent" and that IMMIGRATION has set no limit - he expounded that so long as you wait 1 day, you can come back as a tourist and will receive another 60days (plus extension).Final decision is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Looks like the visa-run companies are back in business!

I've contacted 5 or 6 camps - some have got back. Some also don't want you to know how many as they probably don't have the right paperowrk.THere should be official figures but I can't get the Tessaban to reply.
-
How daft can you get? Why do I have to have a "reason" - I"m just asking for a factual answer - that doesn't change regardless of my reason. Do you know the answer? Are you withholding it because you want a reason??? a "sensible" answer would be "63" (but why do you want to know?) but you obviously don't have an answer do you?
-
how would you read "unlimited"? We are all aware of the various announcements by embassies - some have been tere for years, some are brand new - they are representatives of the Thai government and therefore immigration - but wee are all aware of how inaccurate they can be you post says nothing new - unless you have an opinion on how many entries will be allowed and for how long?

It's not just the SETV, a lot of other visas could also be redundant if unlimited visa runs every 90 days are feasible.. I think it might take a bit longer - someone would have to do more than 2 long trips of over 60 days (+extension) before they were refused. In theory you can now stay for up to 90day as many times as you want.Even the DTV doesn't allow that at intial O and B visas are for 90 ans then need extending.

I always seem to have this problem when I ask for inormation on this site - people who simply can't help decide to post thinking they are very funny. If you don't know please don't post, it just obfuscates the sensible answrs.

Has anyone got a reliable answer to this?I'm trying to find out EXACTLY how many elephants there are on Samui? I've tried to contact the council offices but no reply.

Elderly woman killed at zebra crossing in Pathum Thani
kwilco replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Police aren't trained to do this. When it comes to pedestrian crossings though there is a lot more to it than than. It would appear that in Thailand there is no such thing as a road traffic engineer. This means that the overall design and positioning of pedestrian crossings is highly questionable - the idea is that they should have good visibility and no parking in both directions clear signs approaching and a standard format of road markings. (v.The UK system)THis should then allow easy enforcement of the regulations and publicity by the government.none of this happens in Thailand .THe place whre this unfortunate woman was killed has a new design - which itself seems to vary form location to location - is hardly intuitive or self explanatory and it seems that the woman may not actually have been on the crossing part. -

and you call that a crash report? Was she even one the pedestrian crossing? -

I don't think you can say that - the problem is it is impossible to say what happened without a proper crash report which is a very rare breed in Thailand. Should also be noted that the black vehicle in the picture seems to stopped some 25 or so metres beyond the pedestrian crossing. -

THis is such a fatuous comment - other countries? Why has that got to do with it? there are a load of factors involved here It is how the law in Thailand is enforced and how both drivers and pedestrians are educated it is also how pedestrian crossings are positioned and designed. Remember it was already described as a blacksopt.
