  1. I keep seeing a Honda Rs driving around as though its just trying to annoy me.

I went to Big C and it was parked next to me when i went to leave

And as soon as we sort out a few house renovations i will be ordering hopefully in the next fortnight

That's me, Kwak. I know where you live (just kidding) wink.png . Let us know when you order.

  2. In God's care now. crying.gif

How horrible for god to let it happen in the first place. After all he is all powerful and omnipresent, right? So why didn't he stop it? Maybe because he doesn't exist. Perhaps they are in the care of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Back to reality - horrible event. RIP little ones.

Saying "RIP" is equally dismissive and belittles the tragedy. It's a terrible learned habit just like god. They are not resting peacefully. That's false comfort to avoid the painful reality. They were burned alive. There must be accountability.

Fair comment. Although not as bad as a belief in god, if I may say. But your point is a good one.

  3. All new cars I have bought had a free service at 1 month or 1000 km.

I have never had a Honda before and the dealer says the first service is 6 months or 10000 km - not 1 month/ 1000km

Is that correct? The book says 10000km or 6 months.

If that's what the book says then go for it. There's no way you can invalidate the warranty by following the book. You can always pop it in for a once over and/or a quick oil change after 1,000km if you want, but I guess you'd have to pay something. I'm not 100% sure on this though. Best ask again.

  4. So asking for less = faster delivery :-) You did well though Wiggy even though you have to wait a while for it

Not necessarily, inventor wai.gif I could have had it next month with all the extras. However, I'm off to the UK for my annual pilgrimage in early July, so I couldn't see the point in taking delivery just before leaving. Plus, it gives me something to look forward to on the way back wink.png

  5. I've just returned from Honda Sukhumvit (Ekamai) in a state of shock. I went in to put a deposit on a Civic RS Turbo and to ask for free insurance, stainless exhaust ends, mats and stainless scuff plates. I got the exhaust ends, mats (included as standard), scuff plates and 3M film. The only think I didn't get was the insurance, but she offered me 30% off (from 27,000 to 19,000 with Viriyah) and she added the following freebies without me even asking:

    Boot tray

Window shades (the plastic visors at the top of the window)

    500 baht worth of fuel

    Free registration (worth 4,000 baht)

Wax 20 times over 5 years

    Number plate frame

    Anti-rust

No hesitation in putting down a deposit, obviously. Pick it up in early August as I'm taking a trip home soon, but could have had it next month.

The staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I'm delighted biggrin.pngbiggrin.png

  6. If not the battery as suggested, the answer could be in the "near empty" part of your post. When a tank gets really low it can collect 'sludge' (flakes of rust and/or small debris from years of use) from the bottom of the tank. This in turn maybe blocking the filter a little and restricting the flow of fuel to the engine. Or, some has made it past the filter and is blocking the needle valve in your carburetor (assuming it's not fuel injected) or an injector. This would cause the sluggishness and stalling as the engine is being starved of fuel. You may need to have the fuel system cleaned (start with the carburetor) if you can't find out what else it might be. Also, check the colour of the fuel if you can. I understand each type is a different colour, although I'm not sure what they are. This might tell you what was put in.

  7. Ford have had a nightmare with this transmission. So much so they've abandoned it on the new Focus for a regular automatic, which launches later this year. Just search Australian Ford forums for the issues they've had.

I have a 2013 2.0 Focus PowerShift. My transmission has been, for the most part, absolutely fine. I have noticed some sporadic problems, mainly when the engine/gearbox are very hot (in heavy traffic). The problems range from slow kick down to revs slow to decrease after lifting off the throttle. Nothing dangerous, just annoying. However, the more I think of it as a manual, the more 'normal' it seems, if that makes sense. After all, it is a manual 'box that shifts automatically. That said, it's still not quite right. Overall, I like it as when it does perform it's epic. Gear changes are fast, smooth and efficient. It's such a pity they released it before it was 100% ready, in my opinion. My understanding is that fluid can leak onto the plates causing the clutch to shudder. I can't see how a software update can fix this though. Mine too has just been recalled and I'm trying to book it in now at my dealer. I'm not sure what this update will 'fix', but I guess it can't be any worse and they've been releasing updates for years now, so they should be getting close, one would think.

  8. JTB is right. The only stat I could find was, "under 9s" for the Focus on a UK site (the RAC). 10.4 seconds from the RS seems a bit lacking to me. I have read on here somewhere though that the boost for Thailand is being set a little lower though, so that is almost certainly the reason.

The boost in Thailand is set for 1.0 bar, the US version is 1.13 bar. I'm also holding off my decision now as those numbers are a bit worrisome for me. Had planned to test my 8th generation Civic 2.0 to see what its performance is once I find a clear spot. If the 0-100 is equal or worse on the 2.0 than I'll be happy with the 1.5T as the Civic 2.0 gives me very descent acceleration when needed.

I've seen several reports for the Thailand 1.5 to be 9+ for 0-100, now this 10+ figure even worse. The US version at 6.6-6.8, would be great.

We have some staff testing the export version of the RS soon, which will be in conditions much more favorable for best-case 0-100 times - more favorable than a high 30's day in the middle of Isaan anyway, where all the Thai-quoted times have come from so far.

I'm sure that Ford will also give us a Focus 1.5 ecoboost to compare with too ;)

Thanks for this, IMHO. It'll be interesting to see the figures.

Agreed, Tywais. My Focus 2.0 gives me plenty to work with, so as long as the Civic isn't below that I'll be a happy camper.
