Looked at th HB today ...nice but the RS is more suitable for us. Much bigger boot plus it has built builtin gps and lanewatch. Anyway the EV has a flat bed if needs be.

    Rear view is more restricted.

It looks like Honda saved all the Yoko's for the HB ...RS's are now coming on Bridgestones ...somewhat of a shame to say the least!!

    Hi JAS,

I have an RS. What's the fundamental difference between Yokohamas and Bridgestones? I do get some road noise from the Bs, but is that all? Thanks in advance.

Look at the picture.......... the point of impact was before where the body is now. You will see a circle of blood where she was hit and then dragged forward to where the body is now.

It seems she was hit in full view of the driver.

    Am I overthinking this???

Could well be. Or, he completely reversed the rear wheels over her, and then pulled forward with her trapped between the underside of the car and the rear wheels (look how low it is), thus dragging her and leaving the blood trail. Both are plausible. Sad.

Pleased that you like it...yes it has many +'s.

After having a second demo in both the Focus and the RS Civic, Mrs J confirmed that the RS is way first choice. Delivery is Friday week.

At least it will keep her out of the EV which is a huge plus ...

It surprising how one's opinion can change the second time ...mine ... Mrs J was up for the RS before she had even completed the first test drive...

Congrats. I've had both the Focus (2.0, 2012) and I now have a Civic RS. The Focus was good, but the Civic is better IMO. She'll love the RS.

there is of course the possibility that foreigners holding a licence from certain approved countries who already have driving credentials will avoid any of this as is the case right now

This would make complete sense, which is probably why it won't happen. Lol. That said, this is how I got my Thai licence in the first place, by simply producing my UK one and undergoing a colour blindness test. That was it. Fingers crossed this will carry over to renewals.

what they are proposing is not a 15hr video for those renewing their licence, it is a full retake of the written test and taking mandatory driving lessons from a private company and doing a driving test each time you renew

I realise that, and I still think as a one-off (bar the lessons as it's easy to tell during a test whether someone can drive or not) isn't such a bad idea. I would suggest doing the test first though, followed by lessons if necessary. That all said, it has to be done cleanly and fairly.

Not ridiculous. They are simply acknowledging the real state of affair - that presently, a large % of those holding driving licenses paid bribes for them and are actually not qualified to drive.

I can see the value of doing this as a one-off for those renewing to identify the bad drivers but, again, only if it's a clean system could it work. I'm not holding my breath though. Even during my last renewal people were asleep or playing with their phone during the 'safety;' video.

Who then should teach the children now when the adults are a lost cause?

    The babies?

Ridiculous question......but a very valid and poignant one at the same time. This is why Thailand is where it is. It's almost a lost cause as I feel that nobody really wants change. If they did, they could, and would. The whole system is broken, hence your question. The whole police force needs firing, and then rehiring with good people without preconceptions of what a police office is/does.

    Easy to counter.

Those drivers caught driving badly would be retested and the finances of the tester who signed and passed them the first time would be scrutinized.

But that's just it.......those who are currently caught behaving badly grease a palm and are waved on their way - often with a smile. Strict enforcement is the answer, I agree with you, but corruption has to be eliminated first, surely.

No need to take the car in, Ace! Lol. It's easy to program the Honda (Garmin) GPS. I would prefer to use CarPlay so I can enter the route at home, as you do. That's all.

If only Apple Thailand would allow navigation to be used with apple carplay...I was told by Honda that it would be available from June this year.

Takes away the need for a build in navigation system...

This would be great. I'm really irked that I can't use Apple Maps with Apple CarPlay. Fingers crossed it'll happen. Do you know if it would it be a simple job of just taking it to Honda to be installed? Any more information you have would be welcome. I have a 2016 Civic RS. Thanks in advance.

  12. I've bought a Toyota, Ford and Honda on finance in the past 13 years. Even though the Honda was the third car (when one would think my credit history was sound after 25 years here, not one missed/late payment on the previous two cars and with 50% down) the financing was the most complicated and thorough. In fact it was a pain in the backside. It would appear that Honda are far more careful than other manufacturers. No idea why though. Also, no guarantor was required with the Ford as it was 50% down. But Honda insisted on a guarantor regardless. They said I'd need to put 75% down to do it solo. Not a problem as my wife works, but more paperwork required.

The blue pickup driver did nothing illegal, he had right of way. It was the taxi driver that made the illegal manouvre and caused the accident

Nothing illegal, technically (unless he was speeding). But any sane driver would've anticipated what the taxi was about to do - merge, but I agree the taxi is not blameless, as he should've used his mirrors more, observed the pick-up's speed, and acted accordingly.

They sat through the court case they chose to make their own mind up instead of listening to convicted criminal Andy Hall and his bunch of activists and journalist who were only willing to report one side of the story.

Oh, that's right. The fact that the DNA on the murder weapon didn't belong to the Burmese lads is irrelevant, obviously. That one thing, right there, shows that conviction "beyond a reasonable doubt" shouldn't have been possible. And the Miller family are obviously all fluent in Thai.

Closure - no such thing. It never leaves. And how could someone being convicted of the death of a loved one make any difference ?

    http://hopehospice.com/our-services/helpful-information/does-closure-end-the-grief-process/

OK, perhaps the thought of someone being found guilty of the crime helps their "healing" (as per the linked article). The article does state that there is something called closure, but that it doesn't necessarily mean you will ever forget the loss of a loved one. That's not what I meant either. I was implying that this (injustice) might help them move on, but of course they'll never forget.
