  1. Bless em. Thais always seem to be doing something harmful in the name of "good deeds". Feed the dangerous soi dogs (with food that rats probably eat most of), feed the disease spreading winged vermin, keep birds suffering in tiny cages and fish in small buckets thinking they'll get good karma by temporarily releasing them. I dread to think of the amount of negative karma that these Thais are actually building up.
  2. I don't think I've experienced much crime at all in Thailand, but I guess I'm not really in the demographic to be a victim of crime, same as most foreigners. There's plenty of crime going on, we just don't see it. Ask the same question to foreigners who have female children/young adults out there.
  3. I think you mean that there is very little violent crime and theft in Thailand. There is a ton of crime when it comes to tax, driving, corruption, sexual offenses, etc.
  4. Basically, there is the far left, then everyone else are far right Nazis.
  5. Sounds like he was sick of running but was too proud to just hand himself in.
  6. Thanks. I couldn't be bothered to read the whole thing and this is probably the most important point. Confidence, transparency, consistency, being warm to outsiders, are all important for attracting foreign investment.
  7. It isn't only British people that are violent. All countries have their violent groups. But there does seem like a propensity for young British men to want to live out some sort of "East End gangster" fantasy, LARping as a Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels character, when they get drunk. As someone said, Thailand is a place that attracts this kind of Brit, while you find "Bogans" more common in Bali. The thing with the British is more an issue with alcohol. They're wound pretty tight, and there are certain demographic for whom "drinking, f*cking and fighting" form the basis of their masculinity and pastimes. Brits are actually known as being very polite in most places around the world. There's just a few places that purposefully market themselves for the "Oi, Oi! Lads on tour!" types, who go out wearing football shirts with their names on and try to get as drunk as possible. (Eyebeefa, etc.)
  8. You think they'll just go on the fact that they have some kind of flower tattooed on their arm? Or, perhaps, they might use photos to confirm? Not many people will have the same bird and flower tattoos, in the same place, on the same arm.
  9. That this isn't an indication that there is any danger to them.
  10. Most of the time it's better not to give or buy. There's a huge chance that it's fake, be that part of a gang or an individual pretending. Give to people you know are genuine. Everyone else, just ignore.
  11. *grammar Nazis.
  12. Thai police work their best when there is a little "motivation" involved.
  13. Nooo. True love would be if the girl got stabbed or raped, or if someone offered a large sum of money in exchange for marriage.
  14. Nah, Goat's posts reeked of insecurity.
  15. Maybe to improve someone's image... 🤔
  16. What they hell do you mean "us"? Just because a few foreigners begave badly, doesn't mean that we are all collectively responsible. Also, the majority of these situations involve a Thai not being lovely. You sound incredibly naïve and very much in the "honey moon period", where you buy the tourist image of peaceful and kind Buddhists existing in harmony with each other.
  17. But Trump must be less old and frail than Biden, as they didn't see it as a reason not to try him.
  18. That reasoning behind the requirement seems pretty suspect. As if people need to be fluent so they can remember the Latin names of body parts. It's much more likely to be aimed at ensuring only the wealthy can get into the medical profession.
  19. I think the house can end up being mostly aimed at what the woman wants, so a bit of space for the man to call his own, along with the feeling that the man is not always in the woman's space, can really help the relationship.
  20. "Which is why it's the first thing I thought of when I read the OP, and also why I felt compelled to immediately comment about it." 🙄
  21. The projection is strong in this one... 🙄
  22. Super-woke Disney has actually invested in China?
  23. If you think that is what I said, you possibly have learning difficulties or are a liar. 🤷‍♂️
